I'd I could give this a less than one star, I would. This contractor did work on a condo that I bought. Both the walls and the ceiling were not done to code, so they had to be redone. Since he had to redo the wall and ceiling, and didn't get paid to do redo the work, he didn't care what kind of job he did. He broke my closet door, scratched up my kitchen counters, and painted the walls 2 different colors. On top of that, he didn't pull the required permits and the city inspector came out to threaten me. The kitchen cabinets and microwave door don't even open all the way. He did a horrible job and refused to make it right. Avoid this contractor at all costs! read more

I give Janik and team as many stars as there are in the sky. We had just come off of two horrific experiences with contractors. Janik came in and saved the day. He was there twice a day!! Made sure everything was perfect. Did our floors with Plank and Stone (brilliant one stop shop for everything tile or floor related !!) he designed two bathrooms from scratch that are nothing short of divine. He did our roof out paint our floors ... everything. My husband is a tough man to please and he was bowing down at the end of a wonderful experience. We literally miss him and the team. I was trying to find the right bar table for my new apartment, one that had the right rustic look, and would match with my other furniture. I looked at many table stores online, and also in commercial stores, but none really caught my attention. One day I was walking back from the Pacific Design Center, and I passed by this restaurant called Huckleberry's Place. I stopped in my tracks when I saw their unique looking tables, and knew I wanted this exact look for my place. The tables looked beautifully distressed, and were paired with a handsome metal base, which really made the restaurant look stylish. I dined in the restaurant and inquired where the tables came from. Of course, while dining, I examined the tables and saw that they were very well built and designed. The owner, Naomi came out and told me her husband Janik built all the tables, he pretty much personally built & designed the whole look and feel of the restaurant. Naomi graciously arranged for me to meet Janik, to discuss if a custom table could built for me. He explained in detail how he crafted the tables, and showed me videos on how he painted and burned them to make them look distressed, also drilling metal bolts on the side, which make a very unique rustic look. You could really see he is passionate for what he does. He got some table dimensions from me, agreed on a price, and noted how many days he would take to build me a table. He then delivered and installed the table within the agreed timetable himself. I cannot wait to share many tasty meals and funny stories on this special table. What a wonderful experience! Janik Roskovani and his team were fantastic in the complete bathroom remodel that they did for my Spanish-style house in the mid-city area (Spring 2018). They completely gutted it, moved pipes and fixtures, and installed everything (including working with glass/mirror people and stone cutters for my custom vanity top/back splash). He and his team built the custom vanity (I picked the general design, sink, and fixtures), as well as the metal window. He worked with me on my design and gave recommendations based on his experience with other projects and available materials. He was flexible to accommodate my preferences and schedule and even went with me to go tile shopping and marble slab shopping (in the Valley). His team was responsible, friendly, and trustworthy. My bathroom passed all phases of inspection easily, helped by the fact that the inspectors were familiar with Janik and his work. Janik did a garage project where we turned a very big but basic 3 and a half car garage into a dream garage. This involved redoing the floors in a stunning finish, new garage doors, cabinets, hiding unsightly heaters and such and getting a tankless water heater- basically redoing the entire thing. Janik did the entire project for a fair price and not once complained about minor adjustments and changes. I always felt like he was concerned about how I felt and the quality of the work vs. his profit margin. We are very picky so there were a few things we wanted redone from OK to perfect and he redid them as we asked without issue- there was even one item that we complained about two years later and he came and fixed it- without charge. What makes it worse, is that I knew Janik, for years, from my gym. My 86 year old Mother and 84 year old Father trusted me when I told them about Janik. He met with my Mother. He talked a big game. We hired him to do a very simple job. The second story at our home needed to be finished. Flooring, Paint, Fireplace facelift, a butcher block table top, a shower glass divider, some hanging lights , and to connect the bath tub. The job was to take 3 to 4 weeks at most. The job was started towards the end of March 2016. Almost one year later, in January Janik and his ever changing crew just left. They also left about 20 bags of trash along the side of the house. For the first couple weeks Janik would show up every other day. Then he stopped. Leaving 2 or more often 1 worker. He quoted a price of 35,000. 3 to 4 weeks. We gave him a 6,000. Before he started. For "Supplies. He chose a cheap pine flooring. I came by one day, and his worker was drilling screws into the floor, because they were starting to raise. He said he was going to cover the screws with some wood putty. When he originally talked with my Mother about the flooring,he said he was going to personally sand, stain and make the floors look rustic. This never happened. Simply cheap Pine. Two women came to paint. They lasted one day. The stone fireplace came out well, but it was one of his rare hard workers. Although they covered the gas switch with stone. The glass shower divider was never purchased and the work never done. As the months went by, and we kept giving Janik checks for supplies , I asked him why he could not finish the job. I asked him why it was taking so long. I said , how about October. Can we finish by Halloween. He said yes. Did not happen. Then I thought surely, by Thanksgiving. A nice Thanksgiving. No. He could not finish. Ok. By Christmas. No. Did not happen. New Year. No. Could not handle it. One of the worst days ever was the day I came to the house and there was a bag of THC " Gummy Bears". I said " Mom. Where did you get this. She told me Janik had given them to her. He had seen the multiple bottles of medication my Mother had , and I guess he felt he needed to play Doctor and give her. T. H. C "Gummy Bears". This really should cost him his license. If he even has one. THC can cause the heartbeat to increase. Eating just one could have possibly caused a stroke or heart attack. After he was paid 28,000 dollars and not finished, he had the gall to tell me his "accountant " said he needed to get the remaining 7,000 to finish the job. Which would come to the 35,000. We kept asking. Janik where the butcher block table top was. He always said he was building it at his factory. Finally one day he was cutting a piece of wood in the driveway. This was the butcher block table, that he was supposedly working on in his "factory " It was thin and cheap. It split down the middle, in two weeks. As did the dresser top by the sink. We refused to pay the remaining 7,000. We had already been ripped off. I met with Janik 3 weeks ago, and asked him if he could just reimburse us for the butcher block table top and dresser. He said no. He said he would come in and put a granite top on. Nobody asked for that. This nightmare by Janik Roskovani. This 3 week job, that went almost a year, has caused aging and pain to elderly, good people. Run, don't walk. From the Janik Roskovani and Design Edge Builders. I'm sure the name will change again. I am amazed that my review from two years ago is no longer listed here. Hmmph. I will be the second person to go after Janik's contractors bond. He asked for too much more money upfront, then never purchased half the materials he said he would buy with that money. our contract was to be completed in one month. After 4 1/2,months, and he wasn't finished, I fired him. He didn't put any moisture barrier in the shower. On a 10 floor condo that could have been disastrous. He ruined another friend of mine's garage redo, i am only saying this because this man was destructive not constructive in building. He still owes me $24,000 from me reporting him to Contractor's Licensing Board, a decision which was found in my favor. I don't know where these positive reviews came from, maybe a few are true, but I am highly doubting it. Go ahead, take a chance, you will get burned.
