We were going to have lunch at Fifty9Fifty in Tierrasanta. Neither of us checked it out on Yelp or Goggle as we typically do. Upon arrival we found Fifty9Fifty to be permanently closed. We hopped back into the truck and headed down Santo Road. On the corner of Santo and Clairemont Mesa Blvd. tucked in the corner of a Vons anchored strip mall we spied JP's Pub. JP's offers food. We were hungry. We stopped. JP's looked like a typical no-windows, dark bar. And that's pretty much what we found. The place is big though. Large horseshow bar, pool tables, plenty of TVs. The obligatory regulars sitting at the end of the bar shootin' the shit. In other words; our kind of place! Our bartender Cynthia provided great service. The regs were welcoming and friendly. We weren't looking for a Michelin Star worthy meal, nor were we expecting one. What we found was some really good Pub Grub that was prepared with pride. The cook even came out and checked on us. He wanted to make sure our food was to our liking. Solid. Becky had the cheeseburger and I was intrigued by the fish sando, we shared some fries.. The burger was a good burger. It was a good ol' fashioned flat top burger, melted cheese, LTO, mayo, ketchup, mustard on a sesame seed bun. A pretty sweet deal for 12 bucks. The fish sando was really good. Was it a frozen Costco filet out of a bag? Probably. But it was seasoned nicely and fried perfectly. A tasty slaw covered the bottom bun, good tartar sauce up top. 8 bucks! This was definitely not a shitty Mickey D Filet O' Fish! Fries were really good. If we lived in the neighborhood we'd be JP's regulars shootin' the shit at the end of the bar.

Nestled in a TierraSanta strip with an unsuspecting outer appearance, JPs pub is a local gem just waiting to be discovered. With 2 pool tables, a jukebox, and ample bar seating, it is a traditional American dive bar that will make you feel right at home. They are open daily until 2am (kitchen open until 12pm-7pm Sunday/Monday, 12pm-10am Tues/Sat). The food is cooked fresh and absolutely hits the spot. Not to mention $2 tacos on Tuesdays and $0.75 wings on Thursdays! 5-stars all around for being about as local as it gets, fun, welcoming, and having a solid combination of food/drink. Definitely plan to be back.

Chili dog chicago dog $6 bucks and burger cheeseburger special $10 bucks with a cold draft !!!

This spot just gets it…read more I came through recently and was honestly excited before I even ordered food because they had a solid selection of NA mocktails. For a bar, that's not always a given, and as someone who doesn't drink as much these days, that immediately stood out to me. I grabbed a lavender leprechaun and it was super refreshing, light, and just a really nice change of pace from the usual soda-or-water options. It didn't feel like an afterthought, it actually felt intentional. For food, I went with the corned beef sandwich and it did not disappoint. Hearty, flavorful, and exactly what you'd want from a proper Irish pub. The whole place has that classic pub vibe but still feels welcoming whether you're drinking or not. That balance is rare, and I really appreciated it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to, especially knowing I've got solid non-alcoholic options to enjoy.

Stopped by The Field Irish Pub in downtown San Diego for a Guinness and a bite on St Patrick's Day,…read moreso as expected, it was absolutely packed. Despite the crowds, service was impressively fast. We grabbed seats at the bar and were taken care of right away, which was a pleasant surprise given how busy it was. Food-wise, the fish and chips were good, but not amazing--solid, but nothing to rave about. The sausage rolls, unfortunately, were a bit underwhelming for me. I was hoping for a crispier, flakier pastry, but they fell a little short in texture. One thing I really miss is the live music they used to have before Covid. It added so much to the atmosphere, and I'd love to see them bring that back. Outside of big events like St. Patrick's Day, the place can feel a bit quiet, so the music would definitely elevate the overall vibe. Overall, still a great spot for a pint and good service--especially impressive during peak crowds--but there's definitely room to bring back some of that old charm.

I hate leaving questionable reviews.. but also feel when we researched places we didn't get an accurate story. This is a true neighborhood pub.. the place you come so everybody knows your name. Which I love and can appreciate. But as an outsider it was kinda chaotic instead. A bartender came to clean a table for us. The largest grossest bugger hanging out of his nose, he had sweat marks so large there was no need to lift his arms to see them. He proceeded then to do shots at the bar with costumers. Which again... I totally can appreciate having a good time in a good neighborhood pub. The floors were so dirty around the booths. The menus dirty. Just over all couldn't stay and eat here. Did get some good laughs watching a few very inebriated customers, had some good drinks and went on our way. We personally wouldn't come back, but again if you live in the neighborhood and it's just that place you come to for your hang with friends, it's looks like it's a fun place.
