Just like many of the other reviews, this place was surprisingly good! At first glance, you might think it's just another fast-food Japanese restaurant. The ambiance isn't fancy, and the service is exactly what you'd expect from a casual counter-service spot where you order first and then find a seat. We ordered the family meal, which is advertised to serve four people. While everything was a bit on the pricey side, the portions were generous. There were eight of us, and we still had plenty of leftovers to take home. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor. One thing I really appreciated was that each item had its own distinct taste. Sometimes when multiple dishes are served at once, they all start to taste similar--but that definitely wasn't the case here. Even the simple side salad was delicious, especially with their house dressing. I was so caught up enjoying the conversation that I completely forgot to take photos! We ordered the family meal, which included chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, spicy pork, and katsu (we tried both the chicken and pork). It also came with white rice and salad, with the option to upgrade to fried rice for an additional $12. We left with happy, full stomachs and plenty of leftovers. The only downside? Our wallets were a little less happy. It was a great meal, but lunch for a large group added up quickly. Wow -- this place completely shocked me with how good it was. I honestly wasn't expecting much from the outside, but the food proved me wrong. We ordered a Chicken Teriyaki with white rice and a Chicken Breast Teriyaki with fried rice. It took about 15-20 minutes, and you can see in the back that they're making everything fresh. The plates are huge, so I ended up having enough for dinner or the next day. Everything was really flavorful, and I especially appreciated the char on the teriyaki -- seriously so good. The food is really good! Order at the counter and pick up your food. The restaurant is clean. The pan fried potstickers are yummy. You cannot beat the chicken teriyaki lunch special. I upgraded to fried rice. I got a huge portion of fried rice, veggies and chicken. The vegetable is mostly cabbage but I really enjoyed it. The teriyaki sauce is tasty. The food here is delicious. I got the yakisoba noodles with chicken and my brother got the chicken fried rice. It's definitely a little pricey but the portion size makes up for it. I couldn't finish it. I had leftovers for dinner. The teriyaki sauce is good and I like that it's not super sweet. I had some gyozas and egg rolls as the apps which were fine not extraordinary. The prices are a little higher ($17 for a chicken teriyaki plate), but to compensate they don't skimp on the protein. Every order comes with a little salad, rice, and your choice of meat. So far I've had the spicy chicken and spicy pork, both of which are great. You can also get your spicy sauce on the side, which I like to do so I can share my meal with my toddler. The teriyaki sauce isn't cloyingly sweet, and if you want more they have it at the tables. Even my grandma really liked this place when I brought her here, and she's normally very picky. Of course by that I mean she didn't touch her salad at all, but being Asian, having meat and rice was right up her alley. This eatery is at the strip mall by the Jewel on Roselle and Golf. It seems unassuming from the outside but it is a hidden gem. It is a counter service and you will be greeted by friendly staff. Their go-lunch menu is reasonably priced, and you get a lot of food. I ordered the Katsu Go Lunch set which came with two generous pieces of fried pork, stir fried vegetables and rice. The box seemed to weight about a pound! The fried pork was crispy, and juicy but not oily , and the stir fried vegetables was flavorful and al dente (still has crispness). One of my absolute favorite places to go to when I'm craving tonkatsu (pork cutlet)! Their salad dressing is insanely addicting, which you can actually buy a bottle of (I'm tempted to do so...) along with their special teriyaki sauce. I love eating at the restaraunt because they can give you a bottle of the salad dressing for you to add extra to your salad and food in general. The people that work there are so friendly and great to chat with! They even told me about their little hack of adding the salad dressing to the tonkatsu, which blew my mind. SO GOOD! I will continue doing that because it makes it creamier and balances out the tangy flavor from the teriyaki sauce. The katsu is nice and crispy without being oily! They give you, in my opinion, a large portion of both the cutlet and rice. In general, the food portions are great for the price (cutlet was about $14.99 before tax). They've been at this new location for a couple of years, but it was our first time ordering here since they moved. I'm happy to say that it is better than ever. One new thing on their menu is the option for chicken "breast only", so we all had that. Everyone gets the regular teriyaki, while I opted for the spicy, which to me is so flavorful. I didn't think about reviewing as much as I thought about eating, so I have no photos this time. I love that my grandsons and the whole family enjoy their food here. Serendipity. We we planning to go to the Ramen place a couple doors down but we got a late start and whem we arrived they had nearly an hour wait. I had skipped lunch and was too hungry to wait so we stopped into Joy Teriaki. They have a good number of options and a combo plate with 2 meats. We tried the katsu chicken, spicy teriaki beef, spicy port and teriaki chicken. It was difficult to choose a favorite but maybe the beef? The pork had a great smoky flavor from the grill. Gyoza were super crispy with tasty filling and the egg rolls were great. We had one fried rice and one white and both did the job. Next time we want to try the yaki soba noodles, and teriaki shrimp! The staff here are very nice, and the inside of the restaurant seems clean and organized. I ordered over the phone and picked it up. I miss the teriyaki place I frequented when I lived on Long Island, and I was hoping this would be similar. The chicken teriyaki here did not disappoint! I loved the slight grill char of the chicken, it's still moist not over cooked. I enjoyed the gyoza, and the side salad with the dressing was so refreshing. The salad dressing was absolutely delicious, and you can buy large quantities of the dressing or teriyaki sauce. I almost wish the teriyaki dishes came with steamed veggies to eat alongside everything. I wasn't a huge fan of the yakisoba noodles, I may just try them on their own next time with no veggies. Joy teriyaki little place behind Denny's, i ordered two plates of the teriyaki chicken with white rice. The white rice flavor was very nasty due to the water they make it with. The teriyaki chicken one plate was amazing the other I believe the charred it to much and it had a burnt nasty taste. The salad was fresh and the dressing is not bad but if your not used to it might take a bit to enjoy it after a few times of eating it.
