Most importantly for a Poke place is fresh fish is without any sauce for starters. The salad greens are also very fresh. The rice is freshly made. The multiple number of add ins and toppings are also so fresh. Multiple combinations of sauces. Most importantly for a Poke place is the correct mixture of sauces for your Poke. The fish is not pre sauced so this provides a clean fresh taste of fish and allows you to customize the sauces you actually want. Good food, but I think it might be a touch overpriced? I got a medium bowl, which was very filling and had a variety of different toppings I could choose from. I think I'm biased because I've had very good poke elsewhere. I can't stress enough how absolutely GAS this place is. It's quite literally my favorite restaurant ever and their miso soup is unmatched. Joy Poke has been my regular weekend lunch for the past month now! I love their variety, the freshness of ingredients, friendly service and consistency. Each time I go the same guy is there since it's every Saturday, but the bowl is always packed with ingredients and he takes the time to make sure it looks and tastes delicious! At $15.99 for a large, it's not cheap but I think it's worth the size of the bowl and fresh ingredients. They have lots of mix-ins and sauce choices to go along with their proteins. Very kind attentive service at the front for a to-go order. The assembly process has six steps and even a small bowl was more than enough food for lunch. I've gotten delivery from here a couple times and finally got a chance to drop in to get some food to go. The place was clean and staff were efficient but friendly. I love the that they have a big variety of toppings that you can include and their portions are very generous for the price. A medium bowl is plenty of rice and fish to keep me very full - we probably would do just fine with the small bowls. My go to proteins here are the albacore, ahi, and salmon. All are pretty good quality, never had any problems. I also like that they let you pick the sauces for your poke and mix them to order, so you don't have to worry about overly salty or not sauced enough poke. I ordered a salad ahead online, a little taken aback by the pricing; but hey, I'm willing to pay for good fish. Salad: The mixed greens were perfectly fresh- no soggy leaves! Avocado was ripe and a decent amount for the $2 up charge. I was a little disappointed with the other veggies. Edamame were very small and a bit hard/grainy. Cucumber and cilantro were scarce- I'll order extra next time. Fish: Pretty impressed with the raw salmon and tuna. Good quality with nice texture and flavor. It came in really big chunks, which I didn't mind too much. Sauce: This will make or break a poke bowl! I took a chance on the spicy yuzu and it was really delicious. Not too much garlic or citrus, which can often be a problem in yuzu sauces. Just the right amount of spice (I'd say about the level of sriracha) with a good depth of flavor. This is my favorite poke place! The owner is super nice and patient with all his customers. Even when there's long lines, he greets everyone with a smile and does not rush anyone. This place is also very clean. The staff change out their gloves frequently which I appreciate so much. Their medium sized bowl is the perfect serving for me. I am not a fan of raw fish, so I usually get their shrimp and squid. The squid is sooo good! I don't know of any other poke spot that has that option. My boyfriend usually gets the salmon. They allow you to add things like corn, pineapple, cilantro, things that are not usually in poke. These should be called tuna bowls or tuna salads. Poke again should marinate, and therefore you get what you get, there's no customizing. Go to Uwajimaya 5 minutes away. Theirs is like getting poke from Foodland on Hawaii. read more
