Haven't been here in about three years and nothing has changed - remembered why I did not like. No privacy sound wise as there are just curtains separating the treatment areas. Terrible communication gap - I asked three times for more oil - nope. Just very rudimentary massage skills and the same old trick - get near end of massage "you want 30 more minutes?" Funny the language barrier works for that question. If I wanted a 90 minute massage I would have booked one. I'm done with this place - don't understand the appeal. read more

My husband booked this as a birthday gift, so I had no expectations when I arrived. I've had massages in Thailand, Bali, Japan and all over the US, so I have a lot to compare to and therefore I will hold onto my 5, but the MASSAGE is a solid 4. While there is no spa ambience, the massage trumped all those bells and whistles you might get at a higher end spa. It resembles a physical therapy clinic more than a spa. So.... If you want to pick your scented oil and walk around in a complimentary robe, this is not the place. But if you want to get truly worked on and walk out feeling relaxed and reset, this is the place. Very expensive I don't like the wait 20 minutes I feel they should do better with customer service

Had my first massage on Saturday. I must admit I was a little bit skeptical at first. there was some confusion about the length of the massage I requested. However, it was sorted out. The masseuse was very nice. She did, have to leave me a few times, but I didn't mind much. She made good use of the time despite the interruptions. I work out a lot during the week, so when she found the problem areas and worked in to them without treating me like a dough ball it felt great. She understood that my joints didn't want to cooperate comes with age. I will just say I'll return so. Oh, and the price for the service was reasonable. Would recommend. read more

Do not expect a quality spa-like experience at Joy Foot Spa. Do not even expect a foot massage at Joy foot Spa. I purchased a 50/50 massage, half massage, half foot massage reflexology, and the foot massage was never done. She never even touched my feet. The person giving me my massage answered the phone a minimum of five times during my massage. So she probably was distracted and forgot, I know it was distracting to me as a client to have her talking on the phone while giving me a massage with one hand. Not a quality massage. Three men came in for massages during my Thursday morning massage, and had to be turned away. There are many reviews from Men on the website. And there's a very suspicious sign posted right in the massage room saying "acupressure only no sexual services." Not classy. read more

Bought 3 massages, one for me, two for friends. Went to appt, friend went in for hers, I had to wait 30 mins because the girl was "running late". The appointments were made weeks in advance. Although having to wait, my massage was nice. My friend on the other hand...the girl was constantly on her phone, she didn't even do her whole body, skipped one arm and one leg. After skipping these, asked if she would like more time? Made 3rd appt. for my other friend. He shows up for his appointment, the business is closed. He waits and finally leaves after them not bothering to show up, call or text that they were not coming or running late. Save your money and go somewhere where they value your time and you as a customer. read more

This massage wasn't great, it wasn't terrible this the rating. I'll give the good and bad and you can decide for yourselves. As those of you who get massages know, a lot depends on your therapist so I've tried to cover as many points as possible. Good: They speak decent English so setting up an appointment was easy and it was easy to understand the pricing. It's located in a nice area on the second floor, hard to see form the street as the entrance is in the back, but certainly plenty of parking. The also have table warmers which is a nice plus. Bad: The massage itself wasn't good. No real technique and since they use lotion instead of oil no long strokes, just kinda short ones mixed with elbows and knees. They also use a loud timer (which is a pet peeve, I'm there to relax not hear timers being set) since the walls don't go to the ceiling you can hear EVERYTHING which is another issue. If you happen to be unlucky enough to get the first "room" your therapist will step up 5-10 times to answer the phone, deal with customers or just to return phone calls to ensure people are coming after you - all on your time since the timer is still going strong! If your therapist has a question for another therapist, she'll just talk over the wall while doing the massage....super tranquil. read more

I went to this place yesterday without much expectation. I thought this would be an another spa that provides below par service. But to my surprise, I got one of the best massages in this local DMV area. My masseuse was Anna and she did an outstanding job. I booked for 60 minutes but during the session I decided to extend it by another 30 mins. I highly recommend this place and I've already scheduled my next session. read more

I would give a zero if I could, I went here and I wasted my money and the older Asian lady couldn't speak English really and kept calling me beautiful and stuff while she focused on massaging my butt... which I didn't ask for and the massage hurt and I felt worse when I left. You're supposed to be covered with a blanket or sheet during massages as I've had massage before but she came in WHILE I was changed liek she told me to and she came and saw me naked, mind you there's no door only a curtain, she came in without warning and stared at my breasts as she handed me a sheet to cover with. Then proceeded to come back and then take off the sheetz completely and massage me bare and they should only pull your underwear down a little bit and not off your butt but she pulled my underwear completely off down to my knees... as I've been through sexual trauma I didn't know what to do during all of this and froze I should've left and refuse to pay but I froze and cried after. In pain and felt assaulted. Completely unprofessional and inappropriate. I also heard the young girl that had to translate for the older lady I had, being flirted with by some old man she was massaging, and him asking to take her out to eat sometime. Such a sketchy place. I specifically asked for medium pressure and it felt as if the lady was just rubbing lotion on me. No rhythm or strategic plan to relieve knots in my neck and back. Waste of time, money, and lotion (on their part). Wouldn't go back. You can find better spots in Urbana. read more

I was visiting family from California and was in serious need of a massage after the flight that caused my stiff neck and shoulder aches. Found this place to be nearby and they were able to take me in right away. This was not like the foot spas I'm used to in Cali where it's $20/hour, you're in a big open room with several other ppl in a massage chair, and mostly clothed. This place was the real deal. At first I opted for a 1 hr massage and within 5 minutes of Jess's magic hands working her way through my aches, I asked to make it 1.5 hr. I get massages often and this would be in my top 3. I like strong massages and Jess had the perfect amount of strength in the right areas. Not only was she able to soothe away the aches in my shoulder and neck, she also fixed some problems that I didn't know I had. They even gave me a $10 discount for being a first time customer. I just got their 30 minute foot massage, and it was very nice! I walked in without an appointment and they were able to take me. The music they play is relaxing and, weirdly enough, it smells good.
