What an absolute amazing time, visited this place during the Halloween Bar crawl. This was my absolute favorite spot. I plan to visit more often. The ambiance was amazing and the music was great.

I went to Joy district rooftop for a happy hour and had a great time! The DJ was a bit too loud/EDM-y for the 5 pm on a Friday time of day, but otherwise vibes were great and the drinks tasted awesome!

Rooftop has seen better days. For $1k per table, maybe get some new cushions that aren't stained. Didn't seem like place was packed and yet held a line outside. Bougie move!

Had a great time @joy district. Our server Taylor was amazing. She was very kind, attentive and thoughtful. Our night was surrounded by good drinks, house/hiphop/reggaeton music. Special shout out to Taylor she really made us feel welcome, and definitely made us feel at home! Her energy really kept us going through later hours of the night!

Sliders bring us Joy First time eating at Joy District and we got fried chicken sliders with herb fries and they were okay! Not bad, definitely bar food quality which was fine just to get something in us before drinking the night away, which were wonderful the service was fine honestly it's a club I could tell they just wanted to get their day started instead of having to come serve us but we had time to kill! And the ambiance is cute there are two floors and a rooftop! It was a good time once the music started!

We had a blast here! Fun music, lots of space, lots of drink options, sitting room, and fast service! Can't wait to come back!

I was just there for brunch and had a horrible experience. To start the table was dirty; the glasses were dirty, the bottle service was average below average. The server was OK, she was nice. The food was decent. There was no DJ, there was supposed to be a DJ. The restrooms were disgusting, no toilet paper, or towels They tried to charge us for a birthday shot that the server asked for us she said "let me get you a birthday shot" and she picked down julio 1947, and tried to charge us for it ($40 bucks). Overall -3 out of 10. Wouldn't go back.

Came in here after a musical downtown. After grabbing drinks in the area we stumbled across Joy District. Ended up heading inside because heard they have a great rooftop. Unfortunately we weren't able to see the rooftop because it was late...but ended up staying because the music was so good. Shout out to Ezell for telling us how fire the DJ and sound system was. Upon entering we headed to the second floor and grabbed drinks. Service was quick. We ended up hanging near VIP area, which got us close to the dance area but wasn't overwhelming. The crowd on a Thursday night was mixed. I would say mostly late 20s. That was fine for us but there were some mid 30 and early 40s inside. The DJ was so good. Never repeated a song. He also mixed up the genre: Hip Hop, Rap, Latin, Pop, R & B, Afropop and even Rock. It was a total vibe. Everyone was having a good time. Sound system was good. It wasn't overwhelmingly loud but you could feel the music. Oh...and then this guy comes out with an Acoustic Violin...let me tell you this hyped the crowd so much. Definitely gonna head back to Joy District...I danced all night. The lighting and decorations are hip and modern.

Had a blast yesterday. DJ Shaw was amazing. There were a lot of Indian crowd and he played a ton of Bollywood songs. American club music too. Drinks were a bit disappointing. Think the shots were over priced and stale. I had three shots on empty stomach but didn't feel much. Cover was $20 for women and $40 for men - so pricy. I enjoyed the light show, though

    Bill for two well drinks

What a scam. Ordered two well drinks and it came out to $45. When we questioned the charge (no prices shown before), the bartender said each alcohol had its price ($14) then the added drink fee ($3) even though we never specified which whiskey or vodka cause we were ordering well drinks. The bartender shrugged and said these were normal prices for river north as if that means anything. Apparently they think it makes them the Bellagio or something. 3% Covid charge, THEN another 20% mandatory service charge. Then like a true scam the tax was charged on top of all of that. The drinks unsurprising sucked. We were there for an event that was being held there so just thought to order drinks while waiting and it was a huge mistake. Also took 20 minutes because of slow service even though there were only two teams in front of us. Should have just left the bar and avoided this scam.

I was exhausted after 90 mins of driving in traffic, but then when we came over saw their valet service and was like that's perfect and then we were greeted by the bouncer who was funny :) We headed upstairs for the rooftop event and were amazed at the decor and the openness the place had. Enough space for the groups and we were thinking great location for a 50-60 people event. Huge bar with a friendly bar tender is always a plus. I also enjoyed their couple of appetizers and drinks which was made to perfection. Overall a positive experience Moving from a small city and visiting Chicago event was overall overwhelming so thank you Kate for accepting our invite to the event. Would definitely cherish the wines that we got.

    Gotta have joy!

It's a reasonably-priced busy dive bar in the heart of Chicago. I asked the bartender if she had a beer + shot deal and she said "no, but you can order a beer and shot." And so we did! Noise level is fairly high, thanks to a lively crowd plus a jukebox. They don't normally serve food but I think are fine with customers bringing in your own food, and you can also place an order from a nearby restaurant (I don't recall which one). And yes, it's cash only so bring some money if you don't want to pay ATM fees! 4 out of 5 Green Stars for social and environmental impact. I like bars that allow customers to bring (or order) their own food - it allows for all diets! The one thing I'd like to see is more beer on tap - even just one good rotating local beer (e.g., Goose Island). Draft beer has smaller environmental footprints compared to bottled or canned.

After a quick ID check at the door, the bouncer let us know it's cash only (thankfully we came prepared). From the moment we walked in, dim lighting, loud music, and shoulder-to-shoulder crowds gave the vibe of a full-on frat party, but not in a bad way. It's chaotic, energetic, and unapologetically no-frills. There's even a self-serve cooler with drink prices clearly listed underneath. I grabbed a Sapporo Premium, brought it to the counter, and our friendly bartender broke our change and offered a chilled glass to pour it into. Simple and efficient. That said, it was loud, so loud that even whispering-distance conversations were a struggle. The space is small, seating is limited, and since we couldn't snag a spot, we ended up leaving shortly after finishing our drinks. This feels like a better weekday hang than a packed weekend night. Still, if you're looking for a classic, gritty, no-frills dive experience, Rossi's delivers exactly that.

For parking you definitely should use Spothero or ParkWhiz, as it's in a very busy/lively part of River North. We loved meeting the owner who was chatting with and checking on guests in the dining room. The menu was really creative and sounded amazing, totally up my alley, so was super excited to try Ila's out for the first time. Unfortunately, and it pains me to say this, but the food itself was a miss for me, and the prices felt steep for the portions. We ordered the empanada duo, grilled scallops, birria lamb pierogis, and sweet corn agnolotti, then the Japanese cheesecake and drip coffee. The positives were that everything tasted fresh, and the flavors of the dishes were good ~ especially the empanadas, scallops, and agnolotti. The main issue was the texture of some of the foods. Other than the empanada (which had a great texture and flavor), the agnolotti and pierogi dough were not right ~ thick, rubbery, and dry, which was exacerbated by not having enough consommé for the pierogis. And the coffee - it honestly tasted like Folgers (though I'll give them the benefit of the doubt) - which took me aback as it was a $7 drip coffee. I'm not discounting Ila's and I truly wish them success. But I think there's some work to be done in terms of execution.
