The absolute WORST experience I've EVER had traveling in my life...and I'm 60. I booked a cruise on…read moreMSC a few weeks in advance for my anniversary and wife's bday the following day. I explained to the agent (Deanna) that my passport had expired but I was going to the Bahamas and she said that as long as I was leaving from a US port, my military (real ID) would suffice to board. My wife, daughter and I left our home at 4am to take a 8am flight, hoping to avoid any problems with the gov't shutdowns and constant cancelled flights. Everything went as planned until we went all the way to Florida from PA to be told that I couldn't board because I didn't have my BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!! I have 7 forms of identification from State AND Federal sources and we were told it wouldn't suffice to board. At which my wife, 6yr old daughter and myself had to have a return flight home arriving almost midnight the following day! I called and spoke to that agent on 4 occasions after booking and paying for this trip just to SPECIFICALLY ASK if what I was taking as ID was enough. And each time she said it was. I insured the trip (thank God) but it was the most humiliating, embarrassing moment I've ever had traveling. The staff at the MSC embarkation terminal had a thrill turning myself and other passengers away. No care, no concern, even for elderly people. There were other people there with the same problem ironically. Needless to say I will NEVER use this agency again. The communication and obviously "TRAINING" is below standard and this stuff is too expensive to be treated this way. Steer clear of R5 travel agency in Maple Shade Nj, they're friendly as hell until you're payed and booked, than you're nothing and your trip is nothing. Beware.
