Great place, great location. Nice amenities -firepit, corn-hole, smores, good coffee, bottle water, apples (could skip those prepackaged muffins), infrared sauna, heated saltwater pool, bikes and umbrellas. Close to East Hampton, the beach and Amagansett. The cottage was nice, though the main room is lacking any real charm, very basic and minimal. Need to upgrade the art in the rooms and window treatments. Cindy was delightful, funny, warm, smart and engaging. The gentleman with the Jamaican accent and the caucasian woman with the shoulder length dark hair need some training in manners. She couldn't bare to get off the sofa for a simple check-out, asking us to wait... That's not great customer service. The funny part of our stay involves two other hotel guests... A couple in their thirties, very self involved and high maintenance (you could tell), driving a white mercedes SUV.. they enjoyed using the sauna and the pool every evening. So, on our second night, I decided to take a quick sauna,,, it was empty when I arrived. This dandy ran up claiming he'd reserved the sauna! I apologized, I hadn't read anything about making a reservation, and assumed I'd missed the memo on that. I politely and immediately excused myself and told them to enjoy. (BTW, in her defense, she had no idea that her bf / partner / husband was lying to me, and very sweet). Anyway, the next morning, still wanting to take a sauna, when I grabbed coffee, I asked at the front desk if I could reserve the sauna that evening. Turns out, there are NO RESERVATIONS FOR THE SAUNA. First come, first serve basis. So, this DB lied. All to suit his desires and time line, thinking nothing of my vacation.. or the fact that I was there first, and he might have to wait a few minutes. That would be such an inconvenience as apparently he thought he was the only guest in the resort. So, karma is a bitch, and he'll get his --- in a way he already has... that mug (face). LOL. He can pararde around and lie his way through life, blow drying his hair and showing his abs (which were kind of impressive, credit where credit is due) -- but that face. Around here we'd call him a double-bagger. Maybe with that face, you gotta tell some lies. read more

Despite the pandemic, I had a very good experience recently at this hotel. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bed was very comfy. Extra points for fancy gel pillows that are similar to what I have at home! While there were certain procedures in place for social distancing, I did not have any issues using the amenities when I happened to want to. They also made me feel safe in that they were taking precautions. The pool area was clean and not too busy. They even do a fire pit some evenings where you can roast marshmallows, which was a nice touch. I enjoyed making s'mores in what I thought of as the "backyard" area of the hotel. It is sort of hard to see the turn-in from the road, so don't miss your turn. Other than that, it was pretty much ideal! The location was very handy for spending some time quiet outside at the area beaches and nature preserves. read more

We cannot say enough positive things about our stay at the Journey East Hampton! After unexpectedly needing a hotel for the night, the staff was incredibly accommodating in getting us a room set up and ensuring we felt taken care of for check in even with the late notice. They ensured we felt comfortable both in the room as well as using the common areas in the lobby for relaxing or working when needed. The room's were very nice and clean, can tell the property is well taken care of. Cindy and Erika in particular were amazing in making sure our stay went smoothly and that we had everything we needed to feel settled. Would 100% recommend staying here! read more

We had a lovely stay here. The room was clean and the service was good. They had fruit, tea and coffee, and granola bars in the lobby. There was also a fire pit that they lit at night. We made s'mores one night which was a fun activity you don't usually see at hotels. My only complaint was that the shower didn't have hot water every day. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this hidden gem. The decor was lovely, the rooms were spotless and cozy, the beds were extremely comfortable. There is a stylish pool house attached to the heated pool and s'mores every evening by the fire pit. The weekend we were there, there was even a talented artist "in residence" featuring her work in the Garden Room. But as nice as all those things were, it was the people who made our stay so memorable. Cindy and Erica and everyone at Journey (we even met the lovely owner) went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. It would be a lovely hotel if it weren't so loud, you can hear the highway pass you by even with the windows and doors shut and the people above you walk around or worse doing something extra!!! The floor boards upstairs are super squeaky. There's literally no sound barrier between the rooms. When I went to take a shower there was no hot water either. I would advise them to invest in sound remediation such as sound proofing between the floor and ceiling and an exterior wall of some sorts to block the busy highway noise. Perhaps they can hold off on the Molten Brown to budget for a better heating system. Essentials first, flash for later. It's too bad because the place is nicely decorated and charming but not worth the money if you can't have your basic amenities met! Guy at the front desk was nice, and offered a sound machine so clearly I'm not the only guest to experience this and he's aware of what's going on. He told me that it was sold out this weekend and I couldn't exchange my room but the corridor said otherwise as it was pretty empty the hotel and you can look into every single unoccupied room as you pass by to the front desk. This is being marketed as a luxury stay in East Hampton with the price of a Ritz Carlton. I really wanted to give this place a try. Not worth the value if you decide to fork over 1k a night. Make sure you bring earbuds to block out the sounds as the front desk doesn't have any. Needless to say I will not be coming back to stay here. read more

The bikes are awesome. Ride them to the beach. The saltwater pool was well-maintained, and the social distancing rules only allow for up to 12 people in the pool area at a time. We never went to the pool and couldn't get in because of capacity issues, so we enjoyed the pool here. We took a $5 uber to Two Mile Hollow every morning and enjoyed that beach, so much. The customer service was top notch. Every question was answered with a smile. The rooms here were incredibly clean and the bathrooms were flawless. We even grabbed chinese food one night and ate out in the patio. There was a bonfire going and everything was absolutely beautiful there. They maintain the entire compound so well. Would highly recommend for families with small children and anyone who wishes to be SUPER close to the beach without renting a $10k a night mega mansion. read more

We accidentally booked the wrong date and when calling to have it cancelled and refunded, the staff was very rude and claimed we checked in when that never occurred. Don't waste your time or energy here, their customer service is severely lacking. read more

Wonderful Thanksgiving Getaway! First and foremost, Juan the GM is a true rockstar! I was communicating with him, before arrival. He was consistent and amazing from beginning to end. Also the team there is wonderful, I wish I caught her name, because she made the experience that much better. Silly, how we spoke so much and never caught it. She was fantastic with my baby and that can be a time, when you forget pleasantries. She offered wine upon check in, which is always a win in my book. Especially when it's good wine. I could have chatted with her for hours. We stayed in a cottage, which was exactly what we needed. The bedding, is amazing and definitely made it feel, like being at home. The cottage was also quiet, granted this is the off season. But still, very quiet. The pictures on their website are NOT misleading in any way. We can not wait to come back for a stay in the warmer weather! read more

I always take 1 star reviews with a grain of salt & that being said, I 100% agree with Daniel B.'s review of Journey East Hampton. For $600/night, this hotel was so far off the mark and I have to believe that the 4+ star ratings for Journey are fake and/or "paid for" reviews. Let's start: 1- Erika, manager or whatever her role is, who was at the desk when we arrived was incredibly rude and unhelpful. Definitely not up to the standards of a highly-priced hotel. 2- There is no daily room cleaning. Again...there is NO daily room cleaning. We ran out of all the toiletries provided before day 1 ended including toilet paper. 3- The location is fine and we knew that going in but the passes they provide for parking are not for any of East Hamptons best beaches. Again...not up to the standards of a 5-star hotel 4- the pool is tiny and I'm not entirely certain it's a salt water pool as they claim. 5- Jennifer was the sole highlight of this hotel. She was helpful, friendly and always greeted me with a smile. We go to the Hamptons often and have stayed in several hotels in East Hampton and the surrounding areas. Journey East Hampton is absolutely NOT worth your money or time. Will not be returning nor recommending. Shame on Goop for naming this as a top place to stay in the Hamptons. read more

This is basically a re-done motel , they put "paint on the pig". It's noisy from both other rooms and the highway. There's no elevator to second floor suites; you have to drag your stuff up rickety stairs. No service at all. Not romantic or elegant. Super basic for $1,100 per night in August. read more

Came to East Hampton for work from Los Angeles so very unfamiliar with the area. This hotel is super cute, super clean and new. Also, the beds and pillows are amazingly comfortable I wish a had more time to sleep in them! Finally, the staff is so sweet and accommodating (Juan is great! I can't remember the guys name who checked us in but we was great too!) - really makes the stay that much better. The weather wasn't great while here (early May) but I'm sure this hotel is even better when it's warm the outdoor space is cute. The only con I sort of have is I am always cold and the heater did not heat the entire space as much as I'd prefer but the sheets were warm enough to keep me cozy at night. I don't know if I'll be back to East Hampton but if I do and need a hotel, I'll definitely be back here! read more

Qualification: I went to the Cornell Hotel School. Know a thing or two about hotels and hospitality. We booked a room here last-minute and when we entered the lobby, we were glared at as if we were somehow lost. After informing the front desk we had a reservation, it somehow "hadn't come through yet" from Hotel Tonight, even though it should be instantaneous and the reservation was placed an hour prior. She proceeded to "finish something up" on her laptop for 10 minutes while we waited to check in. HELLO! Welcoming and checking-in your guests should be your #1 priority. We immediately felt unwelcome and unwanted. If there are such pressing matters that your guests need to wait in the lobby for 10 minutes before you attend to them, then hire more staff. Pretty basic stuff. After being shown our. room, we were happy with it overall. Quality bed, nice design, Molton Brown toiletries. It still very much had a "motel" feel, however, because that's exactly what this place is--a renovated motel. While a good amount of care was taken to renovate the property, it still does not escape the motel vibe it once was. We came back from a nice dinner around 10:30pm. Our keycard no longer worked...we saw the lobby was now closed at 9pm (another surprisingly bad feature for a $500/night property). Fortunately there was a number there posted to contact. I called and it was the same unwelcoming and arrogant woman that checked us in. After explaining our keycard wasn't working, she let out a long sigh and said the lobby closes at 9...but she will come and assist us. After waiting another 10 minutes (I assumed she was driving from nearby to assist), she came out of a door right next to the lobby. Another needless wait. She explained to us that keycards can become demagnetized if they're in a pocket next to a phone, implying this was somehow our fault. She then said we may have not pulled the door all the way shut. She tried our keycard and it did not work. With an insincere and begrudging apology she made a new room key. All in all, I would give the facility 3.5 stars, given the price point. If this were a $100-200/night property, it would be 5 stars. For service, it was so bad I was beyond the point of anger--it was literally astonishment. There is not a shred of hospitality to this property, and beyond that, a palpable condescension to the point where it is truly bizarre. I can only assume that there was either a recent family tragedy or the business is going bankrupt. read more

Stayed off season in January. Nicely done hotel, we'll appointed rooms and clean. Very nice stay but a few comments; not sure why with only 4- 5 guests they put two rooms next to each other. Came to the Hamptons for a little vacay and decided to stay at Journey East based on the great reviews it got. So glad we did!! This hotel was amazing! It's like an old 2 story motel converted into a boutique hotel with a rustic modern feel and it's super clean and cozy! The GM Juan was awesome- he welcomed us, gave us wine, s'mores and showed us how to use the fire pit. We had the best night hanging at the hotel.
