Really had an enjoyble stay here. I came over from CT on Business and my wife met me the day after. Very pleasant room with nice amenities Its a quaint getaway spot close to the village and great to visit. Highly recommended for an inexpensive Hamptons spot... Dirty hotel with bad customer service. Dead bugs, dirt and mold every where. Smells of mold in the rooms. Attached patio with our bungalow was unusable due to being completely covered in dirt and leaves. We were told breakfast is included every morning but then when we went to the front desk for breakfast we were told there was a shortage at the farmers market so there wouldn't be any breakfast. We weren't offered apologies or any kind of compensation. A cheap motel but at high-end hotel prices. read more

Fresh back from my first (and likely last stay) at Forever Bungalows and I'll share I really wanted to like FB but the difference between the actual experience from the pitch is just too big to forgive. I'll acknowledge that I've done a lot of traveling for work and have high expectations. I'll also cede that I think I know what Forever Bungalows is aiming to be, which is a 'modern' shabby chic throwback to Catskills-era bungalows (but set in the Hamptons). I approached my stay expecting sparse but high quality furnishings with a boutique caliber of guest services. Before I get to the disappointments let's start with the positives. Given that it is off-season there are some really good deals to be had. My average daily rate was $90 for a twin room (via TravelZoo) so I really struggle between giving this place 3 stars versus 2 because I am very pleased with the price - BUT I know the standard rates are much higher and it's unimaginable to know what they're charging. For the same full priced rates you can get a fantastic experience in a real hotel and since many of the guests come from NYC they are expecting a certain standard of accommodation. **Reminding self this is the 'positive' portion of the review** I found the employees to be very helpful, friendly and agreeable. Both on the phone and in person I found them to be genuinely helpful and really nice! I appreciated that the young women came across more girlfriend-friendly than tourism-bot and it gave the place a genial warmth. I also found the room to be very clean and LOVED the woods surrounding the lot. My back window opened to a quaint scene of woods and flowers and I really enjoyed hearing the cicadas at night while seeing the cozy bonfire lit up in front. It would definitely be worthwhile to put more attention towards developing the wooded areas so it could truly feel like a retreat, especially since the front of the area is bordered by a moderately trafficked county road. You can tell FB is striving really hard to set the tone of camp-cozy-bungalow vibe and they are within reach I think. Unfortunately, the choice of furnishings and misleading amenities challenges you to be forgiving of its shortcomings. As mentioned in an earlier the choice of IKEA furnishing is a major let down. Unfortunately, IKEA is just too popular for its own good - it's everywhere. Too bad the owners fail to grasp that when people travel, especially to ritzy places like Sag Harbor and the Hamptons, guests want to be elevated and taken out of their quotidian lives. For the prices being charged everything in the unit should be high quality and present well. Instead, you're constantly recognizing, "Oh. This is from IKEA." As a guest, I shouldn't be distracted with recognizing the stores of the furnishings. I also felt it was chintzy to have miserly, plastic toiletry dispenser in the bathroom. It's conspicuous too that there wasn't a clock radio/MP3 player in the room nor is there a coffee maker. The office does offer free coffee but who wants to get out of their pajamas to cross a gravel courtyard to fetch coffee? Who??? Between the furnishings, toiletries, horrible wifi, and misleading cable this place sits closer to hostel than hotel. I don't know if I'm faulting the owner for not knowing the taste of his guests (savvy NYC'ers), not knowing how to pair high with low, or for being overall cheap but it resulted in him aiming too low. There are just too many instances of going cheap and inexpensive rather than high end and you feel like you're in the middle of someone's DIY project. Lastly, I have a major issue with the lack of consideration paid to guest safety. My door didn't offer a peep hole nor did it have a door bar for preventing break-ins. Accessing the room comes with a traditional key (not a door card) and if anyone were to gain access to the spare keys they could enter your room and nothing would prevent it. As a solo female traveler this is one of the big factors in my decision to not stay at FB again. Since FB is located on a main road, with a lots of traffic, and sits opposite from residential houses across the street that entertains young men watching the coming/goings of the guests, I would expect them to be more cognizant of safety for all its travelers. read more

Really disappointing experience. For $350/night, we stayed in a small motel room with very low-end CB2/Ikea furnishings that were barely comfortable or practical. That aside, a few more specific complaints: - Our non-bungalow room (#5) didn't have any wifi for our entire stay. Outside the room, a very low signal was apparent, but with the door closed the networks didn't even show up on our iPhones/iPads. We asked the staff about this twice and they quickly dismissed our concerns by saying "no one has ever had a problem", "it works just fine for me [they were sitting next to the router]", "it's probably your device" etc. They promised to reset the router but to no avail. The defensiveness was odd and made the complete lack of service more annoying. - only one of the electrical sockets out of the 6 in the room actually worked. - although it is advertised on both the website and the in-room guide, there is no HBO or other on-demand TV, just basic cable. I asked the staff why this was advertised and they said "sorry." - the sparse, eco-friendly slant here extends to the amenities in the room. Instead of the usually thoughtful bath products you expect to find in a "boutique" / "modern" hotel that would charge $350/night, there was a cheap institutional plastic dispenser in the shower that appeared to dispense shampoo and conditioner. Neither was labeled so it was hard to tell. The area is beautiful but next time I'm back, I won't stay here again. I'm a general believer in the idea that you get what you pay for, but Forever Bungalows is absurdly overpriced for both the quality of the lodging and the level of service. read more

All the reviews for Forever Bungalows are ridiculously old. Forever Bungalows was a perfect little getaway for my daughter and I to enjoy both Sag Harbor and the Hamptons. Perfectly located, a quick drive (through beautiful side roads) gets you anywhere. Just ask for a beach pass at the front desk and you're set for many South Hampton town beaches- perfect! Our room was extremely CLEAN and comfortable, with the decor giving off a cool/contemporary vibe. I must mention that the other guests in the Bentley that was parked next to my Toyota minivan were surely as comfy as I was, because they said they stay there most weekends from June through September! We were also happy with the smart tv after a full day/evening on the go- a perfect ending to watch some Netflix and doze off in our comfy beds. The manager, Adrian, at the front "bungalow" couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. He steered us in the right direction, this being our first time staying near Sag Harbor. I wish I could go back next weekend! read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Did a last minute booking and read reviews which didn't seem too bad. But with limited availability in the area figured give it a try. We pull up and the place is on a main road and ghost town! Walk into office which the office sign is written on a piece of cardboard. (Should have ran then) Asked if they had any upgrades as it was our anniversary and they offer us the penthouse. At no charge I think wow how nice! No.... it's because not 1 other soul was staying there! Literally NOBOdY was there. The parking lot and grounds looked like trash. The room was clean and decorated in ikea but just put lipstick on a pig. There was no deadbolt and I was told well sag harbor is a safe town.... we dropped bags and explored town a little bit and when we came back just got a creepy feeling. Grabbed our bags and left. We tried to get a refund or partial and were told no refunds within 30 days even though we booked less than 24 hours. The website and booking sites are deceiving. They should put more money in to make it a decent quality and they can charge more. As for now I would stay away! read more

We got so screwed over by this hotel it is insane. We drove 2 hours to stay at the hotel and paid 400 dollars to leave our family for the evening to have a date night and it's 8:30 in the evening and they don't have our room open and won't give us a discount and want us to change clothes in a random room.. Great place to stay in sag harbor. The owner was great. V warm and friendly. Had complimentary fruit and milk for us. came in handy as we have a 14 month old. kid friendly our lil one loved walking around and playing in the gravel. Gave us great meal and sightseeing suggestions in and around. Lovely establishment. Our room was beautiful so unexpected clean neat and immaculately decorated. I would definitely return on another visit to anywhere in the hamptons because it is super accessible if you are driving there. read more

Great place! Great staff! This location is a great find in Sag Harbor if you don't want to rent a house for some ridiculous price. The location is convenient to town. The rooms are clean, well decorated and quiet. The biggest selling point is the staff. Jennifer and team are unbelievable. Ritz Carlton service at a fraction of the price (and I pride myself on being a hotel snob). I will definitely stay at Forever Bungalows again. read more

My boyfriend and I recently stayed at Forever Bungalows with a Groupon in a Queen-sized suite. Room: Clean, quiet rooms, no street noise. Well- lit. Nicely sized. The shower was kinda weird --it had no sliding door but perhaps that's more eco-friendly? The TV only had basic cable and contrary to their website there was no HBO. The WI-Fi INTERNET WAS HORRIBLE (probably because only the Bungalows are close enough to the office to get it) plus both of our Sprint phones had pretty spotty service in the area to begin with. They definitely need a better router/ modem! Service: No maid service since we stayed less than 4 days, which was fine, even preferred. They definitely should offer extra trash bags. The main office service was disappointing, (ironically labeled "Hello") because every time we went in, whether to request a picnic lunch or rent bikes ($15 for the day), the one staff member was on the phone. It was nearly impossible to get her attention and the next time we saw her we didn't even get an apology. When we checked out she was too busy to give us a receipt... Maybe it's the Groupon effect or something, but it was certainly off-putting. Perhaps offering a "no phone" hour entirely devoted to guests would be a solution. In a nice turn of events we happened to run into the hotel owner in Sag Harbor (she spotted us on the hotel bikes) and she was overwhelmingly pleasant and helpful. Location: Sag Harbor is a quiet and beautiful area. The hotel gives you a nice restaurant guide (from bars to upscale bistros- you won't be disappointed) There is no beach near the marina! I'm convinced that you need a car if you want to see one. We are true (naive) Manhattan/ Brooklynites and thought public transportation would be sufficient- we were wrong. We wanted to ask the office for help, but you already know how that went. The hotel is conveniently located on the S92 bus route which is inconveniently never on time but that's another story. Be careful about the local taxis because they WILL overcharge you if you don't get a quote beforehand. All in all it was a pleasant stay. read more

Ugh. Got into bed after a long day and the sheets hadn't been changed - we found a pile of sand. Woman at the front desk said the manager was upset about it, "lives two minutes down the road," and would see us the next day at noon. He didn't show up. Then we were told he would call. He did not. They also charged a security fee - unheard of. You can do much better! read more

Last weekend we put the 4 kids in the car and headed to Sag Harbor. We were blown away by Forever Bungalows. We stayed there last year and it was very good but this year it was hopping! The staff arranged a barbeque on the beach which was low key, sandy and perfect just the way I remember summer as a kid - picking shells, skipping rocks and roasting marshmallows! The rooms have everything that we needed without all of the frivolous pricey extras that don't get used anyway. The rooms are impeccably clean which is the most important thing to us. The a/c was perfect, tv worked beautifully. We were able to put some yogurts and milk etc... in the minibar. It definitely felt as if we had our own little home there. Considering the price, we are thinking about renting a couple of rooms for a month or so this summer. Happy busy kids + happy parents + Forever Bungalows = Perfect Summer read more
