Excellent, fast, and efficient service at a one man shop! Call ahead for an appointment and respect for your time is ensured. If you receive an estimate via phone then clearly re-state to confirm. The garage is open to full view which provides a sense of honesty and transparency. Also, Josho is an auto enthusiast which makes for good conversation. read more

I was recomeded to go here by my neighbor. The shop is run by a nice man named Tomo. He is the only one who works on the cars and knows his stuff well. I have been going to him for 2 years now and is the best mechanic I have seen. Tomo is very honest and will tell you what needs to be done and not over charge. His shop is very clean and I get all work done here even new tires. read more

Tomo is the best! He has fair prices and is completely honest. Not to mention he is quicker than anybody else I have gone to. Good luck going to your dealership and overpaying for service and then waiting hours to get your car back. No thanks. I've been going to Josho Auto for years now and I would recommend this place above any other place. When I had my brakes fixed, Tomo even had the courtesy to call me months later to ensure my brakes were doing OK. That was thoughtful customer service and I really appreciated it. Thanks Tomo! read more

So, I've gone to mechanics all over Southern California. I've been to places in L.A. I've been to places in Riverside and I've never met a mechanic as diligent and honest as Tomo. This guy is just awesome. If you need your car to work and you need the job done right! This is where you bring the vehicle. There is no competition for this place, and i fear the day when he's going to be so busy that i won't be able to make an appointment a week in advance. Because seriously, this place should be backed up for years to come. Honest, reliable, diligent, communicative service. Does he cost more, sometimes. However, what you end up saving is the headache of something else "magically" breaking after he's done. It's fixed, it's fixed right the first time and there won't be any other problems with it. END OF STORY... If there is something else wrong, he'll find it and he'll tell you and for the, first time in my car owning life (18 years), I can trust that i'm not being up-sold, if he says there is a problem... it's there, and it was there before he laid a hand on your car. Thank god for this guy and his shop Josho Auto. Who would have thought that there is an actual honest mechanic still alive in the world. I should note I've brought my car here a couple of times before writing this review. Had to check and recheck when you find someone with integrity it's almost unbelievable. read more

Tomo is the best. Always reliable and honest. He takes the time to explain the situation to you. And if something is not broken he won't recommend replacing it. I highly recommend Josho for Japanese and European car repairs. Every time I come to the Josho garage there's always a few Porsche's, BMWs and Hondas. read more

This guy is probably the best mechanic you will find. I have taken my cars to many different mechanics in search of a good one, and I finally found Tom. He is not someone that simply bolts on new parts and hopes to see if that fixes the problem. He will update you with everything, it can be annoying, but this is exactly what a mechanic is supposed to do. I have had conversations with Tom while he worked on my car and apparently he was a chief mechanic for factory Mazda race team in Japan. Figures why hes so good at what he does. Im glad I found a permanent go-to mechanic. read more

Super honest and hardworking man!!! Ive been looking for an auto shop in orange county that I can trust and I've finally found it! Definitely recommend this shop to all my friends and family! read more

Tomo has been our family mechanic since I was a child. My parents always went to him for their car needs. Therefore, having my cars serviced by Tomo was a given. He is the definition of a true and honest mechanic. He won't recommend or try to up charge you for things you don't need. He'll always only recommend what needs to be done and when he changes out any parts on your car, he shows you the old parts! This is one of the main reasons why I trust him. If you go to any other mechanic shop they'll tell you that they did the work and you wouldn't really know if they did it or not. With Tomo since he's showing you the replaced parts you know 100% that the money you paid was for work that was done. My cars run like a dream and it's all because of Tomo and his care he puts into every customers car. I wouldn't trust anyone else and as long as he is in business my family will continue to go to him and no one else. read more

Compared to the dealer I saved $65 for a 30K service and tomo did a great job explaining the process and what was being done. There is something gratifying about giving a small business my money vs the dealerships that made my visit well worth the money. read more

Rotary engine Mazda owners in Orange County, rejoice! Tomo is awesome. He worked on my RX-8 a few months ago, on the referral of one of my rotary car club friends in San Diego. It is so hard to find rotary mechanics in any community. I am thrilled to have found Tomo. As others have said, he had the car ready when he said it would be and the price for the work was fair and reasonable. I'm set up with him for a 90K maintenance on my 2005 Shinka in mid-April. Arigato Tomo! read more

The place is called Josho, the mechanic is Tomo Hanzaki. His shop is awesome. Its clean, bright; its got personality. he's got a nice red couch for the customers. He's got pics of Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost on the walls. You can tell by the place that this is a man who loves what he does. I had a battery changed here at a very reasonable price. Tomo was very friendly and he took the extra minute or two to do the job right. He double checked if the battery was the right one (it turned out that the old battery was smaller than it should have been, hence the confusion). He sprayed the connections with protector, marked the date, checked and topped off the acid levels. All of these were things that had not been done the last time the battery was changed. Meticulous. People should take pride in their work like this man. read more

This shop is really excellent maintenance and repairing services for any Ferrari cars, as well as Porsche. It doesn't matter classic or new model. This guy has generous hands and fingers, and all new parts will be provided by Ferrari's and Porsche's factory made. And yet, he is really honest and his prices are more than reasonable. I believe no one can compete. I would put 5 more stars if I could. Many many thanks to Josho Auto read more

Tomo is very honest person. Everytime my car has a problem, he recommends the best way to fix the car. I higly recommend to stop by the Josho Auto, then you 'll feel you find out the best repair shop. read more

I have been going to Josho for 2 years now and couldn't be happier. I was going to a mechanic in Aliso Viejo for about a year until it was time for my 60K tune-up. The AV mechanic quoted me $600 on the spot without even checking if the usual parts needed to be replaced. I didn't have $600 to spend so I started asking around and found Josho. After checking my engine and showing me the parts that are usually replaced at that time, AND what they LOOK like when they need to replaced, he quoted me $300!!!!!!!!!!! I was sold. Tom is honest, friendly, and helps you understand your car. He doesn't jack up prices because he can, he does great work for a great price. True though, he is a one man shop - so it's good to call beforehand and make an appointment. read more

This review is for a service I had done on my car about a year ago (just made a yelp account). Took my Miata in for 30k mile service. Fair price and good service. Also there is a couch in the garage where you can sit and wait/watch him finish up your car. Will definitely be back. read more

I highly recommend Tomo and Josho Auto. The shop is incredibly clean and inviting, and the service is superb. He came at the recommendation of my boyfriend who had a battery replaced there about 8 months ago. When we showed up this morning Tomo welcomed us and asked my bf how the battery was running! I called on a yesterday (Tuesday) and made a horrible attempt to describe an idling problem with my Nissan 300ZX. My driver-side window was also stuck half-way down. He invited me in to check out the car and give me an estimate. I dropped the car off at 8am and he identified the problem within 2 hours. A few other places I called said I'd probably have to leave the car with them all day. Unfortunately for me, the problems were pricey in nature (fried power window motor and engine issues), but Tomo offered me a few alternatives to save money and really worked with me on the cost of labor. I picked up my car after work and it's no longer stalling! It's a nice feeling to walk into a auto repair shop and feel confident that you're not being ripped off. The man clearly knows what he's doing and I am so happy I found this place. read more

Tomo is simply the best mechanic you can find in OC. He just knows so much about Japanese and European cars. I have been going here nearly 10 years. Unlike any other places out there, He has never tried to do anything unnecessary just to get some extra $$$. You can trust this guy read more

i finally found a mechanic that's so amazing that i want him to get as much business as possible. i've had battery problems for years. i had my regular mechanic check it and he said the battery has a problem, but i just replaced it. he then said he doesn't see any problem with battery drain and he also said the alternator was fine. but i continued having a dead battery in the morning. my co worker recommended me to josho auto. the owner tomo said he must look at the car before he made any conclusions. he was able to find the my car was draining 10x more than normal. instead of charging me for a new battery or a new alternator, he found what was draining the battery and charged me 65 dollars total to diagnose and fix the problem! customer for life!! read more

Very very nice guy, honest, approachable, helpful and fair pricing. Would have given 4 stars but took one away only because the few times I've called to bring my car in (to check brakes, adjust brakes, etc) there was quite a long wait to bring it in, like days and in one case over a week just to get it fixed. I have been driving since 1991 and therefore have had many cars and gone to many shops over my lifetime and haven't ever had a shop where you have to wait over a week to have your car checked out. I understand it seems like he's a one-man operation, which is admirable, but it's just not very feasible for most critical issues that customers go through. read more

I have a 2003 camry that stalled everytime I am stopped. We went to a few mechanics/shops and was told that at cheapest it was the oxygen sensor and if changing the oxygen sensors dont work, then it could be this one part (sorry forgot the name) which was about $1000... We were ready to get the oxygen sensor replaced from the other mechanic (where I usually take my car before I found josho) when I decided to try to look for another auto repair shop on Yelp just to see if maybe there's a better (and cheaper) one where we can get the oxygen sensor replaced... Lo & behold, I found Josho Auto..after reading his website & his range of experience (he specializes in European & Japanese cars) I made the call & talked to Tomo & explained the situation & the first thing he said was that it's probably NOT the oxygen sensor since my engine light did not turn on... I dont want to bore you with the story but needless to say, i am glad we talked to Tomo because after he checked the car and made his diagnosis, it was definitely NOT the oxygen sensor and ended up being something simpler & CHEAPER repair. The car runs perfectly now.. I find him to be an honest and sincere guy and someone who values his customers. Also, his shop was clean and well-maintained. Finally!!! I found a mechanic whom I can trust! I will definitely be a repeat customer and my family will be his customers as well. read more

I fully recommend anyone to bring cars to Tomo, a mechanic and owner of Josho Auto. Since I've got to know him for twelve years ago when he still worked at another shop, I have never experienced any disappointment of his services. He is a reliable and skillful mechanic who worked as a chief mechanic at Mazda in Japan for ten years and Japanese, Ferrari, and German car companies here in the US for more than ten years. He knows car really, really well and he is a true expert of car. He can restore a car from the scratch. It means he can disassemble and assemble any car. Also, he is a very nice and approachable person. When my Honda Civic stopped at the parking lot at Wal-Mart with a minor problem, I called him and asked his advice. He took his time and gave me the right advice that I needed there at the moment and I could avoid a further damage on my car. Actually, this is not only one time. I still keep my Honda Civic 1998 in a good shape which has with more than 160K miles without any major problem. I totally trust him and his expertise and it is worth paying for his expertise. read more
