I had total hysterectomy done in October of 2025. I was very nervous because this was my first surgery ever. I had a 6 to 7 cm fibroid and many smaller ones. My uterus was very large and was almost impossible to remove using laparoscopic procedure. But Dr. Joseph Khan managed to perform the laparoscopic procedure using only 3 holes instead of a large incision many inches long. Amazingly I have 2 very tiny scars and one done thru the navel which left almost no scar. My belly looks almost like I didn't have any surgery. So the result of my surgery was better than my expectations with minimal scarring. My recovery has been normal and I am back to work. Dr. Joseph Khan is an excellent surgeon who worked hard and went out of his way to avoid a large incisions. He is compassionate and caring. Dr. Khan himself called to follow up after the surgery and he listens to you if you have any issues or question. This made my recovery smooth and I felt the doctor is there for you. This Doctor Saved my Life!! I was dealing with abdominal cancer for a few years I had a huge tumor that was 13 pounds after seeing different doctors and getting the same results for surgery they all refused to do a 7 inch abdominal cut since they figured robotic would be best but I was the patient and I knew what I wanted after almost losing hope I found Dr Khan he cares so much for his patients he takes the time to listen unlike other doctors that only spends no more than 5 to 10 mins. The waiting room waiting period is worth it regardless if it's 30 mins to an hour during his procedure appointments he is very thorough. It took us 6 months to prepare for the surgery due to the fact that I had to schedule time off work choose the hospital I wanted to get admitted at create a power of attorney and his staff helped me fill out the disability paperwork. I got my surgery in October 2019 Dr Khan was fashionably late by 30 minutes I went into surgery at 8:30am took a few hours I remember him seeing me in recovery and a few more times through out the day he even slept overnight in a sleep room and monitored me this man did the 7 inch bikini cut he removed my tumor and I'm alive! I miss him so much it has been a while since I went to his office once my post ops were done I was referred back to my primary Dr. thank you so much Khan if it wasn't for you I would have not been alive today ! read more

The wait time is sooo long. I understand I didn't make an appointment for this location. At the other location the doctor was stuck in traffic due to a car accident. So I was told if I came to the Santa Ana location they would be able to see me right away. BULLSHIT it took 2 hours and it only took my 10 min to get to the Santa Ana location. On top of that they took me in and told me i can't take out my implant because I need a physical first when I had called at both locations and was told they would be able to remove the implant the same day as the appointment. After being with this clinic for a little over a year, having very mixed experiences, but predominantly negative, I decided to switch to a different pediatrician. So I called to get my children's medical records and I was on hold for 16 minutes because the receptionist that answered, was new and needed to go ask someone else for help. When she came back on the phone after 16 minutes, she told me I would need to pay $35 for each of my children's medical records. Or if I wanted to reach out to the new pediatrician, they could request the records at no charge. I want physical copies of my children's records to have, so I told the receptionist I wanted an explanation of the $35 charge for each record. I asked her if my children's records were each truly more than 100 pages? Because per California medical board law, practitioners are only allowed to charge $.25 per page and a clerical fee. Once I said that, the new receptionist once again, put me on hold for another 8 minutes and when she came back on, she said the person I needed to talk to was not there so they could call me back later. I then asked her whom she was talking and asking question too, who was answering her questions, that's who I want to talk to. So the new receptionist said oh okay, I can put her on the phone but instead of doing that, she hung up on me. At this point I'm obviously very irate so I proceed to go to the actual practitioners office to speak with them, face-to-face. When I get there and I identify who I am the new Receptionist apologizes for hanging up on me and assures me that she was going to call me back at some point. I just scoffed because instead of immediately calling me back, I believe they were just going to ignore my request and not call me back, but since I was there in person she had to fumble some sort of apology and excuse to try and right her wrong. At this point, she directs me to the other receptionist that was communicating with her while she was initially on the phone with me. I then asked this Receptionist for the breakdown of the $35 charge per medical record, once again, I state, the California law of medical records and appropriate charges, she then tells me she doesn't know, but she can see if her manager is available. After a few minutes, the manager comes out and she tells me there is nothing she can do about the charges, that is just the price for medical records that Dr. Kahn has established and if I want to dispute that I need to speak to him. I said okay, I would like to speak to him then and then the manager says he's not in. Very standoffish, very closed statements, I basically had to pry the information out of her. So I ask when will he be back and she gives me the time and I say fine I'll be back then and I let her know her staff needs better phone etiquette, and instead of being receptive and apologetic for the in adequate experience, she just says OK with an attitude. Requesting the medical records and them charging inappropriately is definitely the last straw. The front desk manager is always rude, when she calls to remind you of appointments she is very rude. One time she called me to remind me of my son's appointment and I couldn't really hear her so I asked her to repeat herself and what the appointment was for and her response was "I don't know I just know he has an appointment. Are you going to make it or not?" On top of the lack of respect, and rude attitude as a pediatricians office they are not inclusive at all. My eldest has autism and has a severe phobia of anything medical. They are not accommodating, instead of making the experience for him calm and sensory friendly , they seem bothered by him and bothered by the fact that the appointment may take longer, so they rush every aspect of the appointment, stressing my child even more. This pediatrician clinic is a joke, they care about the money, not the children. I still plan on speaking to the doctor about the medical records, and should his charges continue to not seem appropriate, I will report them to the California medical board. Edit 3/1/23 9pm I spoke to Dr.Khan and he was very respectful and friendly. He explained the charges and apologized for the way the staff behaved. Have ppd & ptsd from the treatment this md gave me. Don't think I can really trust doctors after my experience. He pushed pitocin late in labor, because I was taking too long. This caused fetal distress. So after trying vacuum with no success he just cut me with a scalpel. He didn't tell me he was going to do it. He just cut me. I had no epidural at this point because my nurse wanted me to walk, right after birth. I felt it all, unimaginable excruciating pain. More pain than any other part of labor. I am surprised I didn't pass out from the pain. I had to push the baby through the excruciating cut. I felt it all. When he stitched me up, I felt every bite he took with the needle and thread. He just patted my leg when he was done and said next time will be easier. He then only talked to my husband. "Well it was that or c section". When he left the room the inexperienced nurse botched my catheter leading to an infection that spread to my kidneys and eroded my stitches. I had night terrors for many months of this md torturing me. I can't drive in front of this hospital without wanting to throw up. I have to put a cream on my perineum or I get small tears in it when I walk. The missing piece of perineum still hurts on occasion years later and I have problems keeping poo in at times. I melt down crying when people ask me if I will have more children (3.5 yrs later). I never will. I don't know if I will ever trust a doctor to even give me a pap-smear. I understand why he did what he did but the way he did it, without telling me, was an assault. Doctors who practice this old school paternalistic version of medicine need to retire and make way for a more modern way of practicing medicine. read more

The reason this place gets a 5 star review is because of the Dr and his tenure staff. I have been coming here for over 4 years. He has delivered all 3 of my babies via C section and he has done my tubal ligation. He is absolutely amazing. The wait coming here usually takes an hour and a half after your appointment time to actually be seen but I always say it's because everyone comes here. The wait feels like a clinic but the Dr feels like he's in Beverly Hills! AMAZING!! His staff seem to come and go, and I can understand why. They don't really have much bedside manner. I went with Dr. Khan for the first prenatal visit on Tuesday and I had a great experience. He is a great Dr. and super friendly. I have insurance so i don't know anything about no insurance fee's? They have 2 locations one in Santa Ana and one in GG. I went to the Santa Ana location. Cons: Location and Parking Wait time is long so be prepared for it! I had read the reviews and initially disregarded them and now regret to have gone to Dr.Khans office at all. If I could give them 0 stars I would but yelp only allows for one. I am 22 weeks pregnant with my 1st child and having khan as my obgyn has been the worst experience. I literally left the office appointment in tears today after waiting 3+hours after my scheduled appointment in which I was promised an ultrasound and it never happened. I confronted the doctor and he claimed that he was going to eventually schedule one and did so after I confronted him one month from today. I had high hopes of seeing baby today and I just felt crushed. When I finally went got to see the doctor it was a 4 minute visit where he asked how I was, checked heartbeat, asked if I could feel baby, and then told me to schedule another appointment for 4 weeks. 1. An appointment means nothing at the office. They constantly overbook patients and the doctor usually only comes in after 10am even though they schedule people at 9am so expect to wait 3+ hours minimum per average of visit. They also take in walk-ins and prioritize those even though they claim not to. 2. The doctor won't give you the time of day. Appointments are very short and they show little interest in the patients. They aren't attentive and pay little attention to concerns. 3. The staff seemed polite but really clueless and when asked basic questions many seem lost. Half the time I felt like they had no idea what was going on. Again seem nice but inexperienced and lost and when having a baby reassurance is important. 4. Lastly, they are impossible to reach especially Dr.Khan, if you call between office hours you will likely get the runaround or just hung up on if they are taking calls at that time at all. Speaking to the doctor takes a miracle as he is near impossible to reach. I found a new OBGYN to continue my pregnancy as I left my appointment in literal tears. I don't feel like I can trust Dr.Khan to be there if god forbid something were to go wrong in my pregnancy. I wouldn't even be able to reach them and I am thankful to closely follow my pregnancy through the Ovia app as it has been more helpful than my doctor who never gives me the time of day. I am lucky to have a healthy low-risk pregnancy but especially to those women whom have high risk conditions please go elsewhere. It isn't worth sacrificing the health of your baby in a medical place that simply doesn't care about their patients. read more

Yes there are ridiculous wait times (he's a busy OB) and sometimes the office staff has been rude, or let me come in when they didnt have what was needed for my appt, but (for me) he's worth it. I have known Dr. Khan for many years. He's been my ob and my surgeon. He did an amazing job with both. He is very personable and always asked about family members when I was in the office. He saved my ovary during my surgery when most Dr's would have just removed it and been done with it. I had an abnormal Pap and it turned out it was worse than I Imagined I honestly thought I had cancer and I thought I was gonna lose my cervix, but she told me to not worry that there was a treatment that could help me. The Dr performed a procedure on me and thanks to that I am now happy to say that I no longer have to deal with abnormal pap smears. read more

If I could give ZERO stars I would! First, the wait in the exam room was horrible. Dr. Khan was unethical, unprofessional, and DISGUSTING! I waited for over an hour to see him, when Dr. Khan finally showed up, he was TEXTING on his phone (with the new gloves that he just put on) for 10 minutes and making PHONE CALLS in front of me (mind that I was naked from the bottom down ready to be examined). My fiance was with me and he could tell how frustrated I was, especially since I worked in healthcare and know the medical protocols. Dr. Khan then started scratching his oily and sweaty forehead with gloved hands... Then he TRIED to stick his fingers in my private to examine my cervix. I mentored nurses before and I interned as a CNA so I know how disgusting that is. I quickly CLOSED my legs and demanded he change gloves before sticking his fingers in me. He prescribed me medications but when asked the side effects of it, he said there were none (and I was prescribed 3 medications). Turned out, I had experience side effects and had to call my pharmacy to verify if everything was okay. One of the medication prescribed needed a prior authorization. I worked at a pharmacy and dealt with prior authorization and medical insurance so I know the ins and outs. My pharmacy had faxed the doctor's office several times the PA request and after 2 weeks have not heard anything back, and this all started 1/22/15. I called the doctor's office twice a week and they confirmed they received the PA request through fax and will get it done. It is now March and there were no PAs submitted to my insurance yet. Every time I call the doctor's office and spoke with the nurses and medical assistants, they did not understand what a PA was and thought it was a RX refill request. I had to explain to them what they SHOULD KNOW and they said they'll call me back. I DID NOT EVER RECEIVED A PHONE CALL BACK. I called this morning and they put me on hold for over 5 minutes then disconnected. I got frustrated and stressed and my sweet fiance had to contact them. They asked him to call back 3-5 times. After the constant hassle from my fiance, I was FINALLY able to get the PA through and get my medication. This place is so unprofessional and the people AND Dr. Khan have no clue what they are doing. I had informed my family doctor what had happened and she quickly referred me to another doctor. I cannot believe how unhygienic, unethical, unprofessional, and disgusting Dr. Khan was. I also can not believe how clueless the nurses and staffs in the office were either! DO NOT GO HERE, STAY FAR AWAY. The reason for this is because this man takes his time with you, and genuinely cares for his patients, he also takes time to educate you with what is going on with your body. I've always had good experiences here. I have been coming here since I found out I was pregnant (I am now 40 weeks) and have always been treated very nicely during my weekly to bi-weekly check ups. The ladies at the front desk are always friendly and willing to answer any questions I've ever had. Doctor Khan is great too and the nurse Linda (I hope I have her name right) is very sweet and makes it easy to feel comfortable to ask any questions I've had in regards to my pregnancy. Wait time is honestly hit or miss. I've been in and out of the office within 30 minutes but I've also waited over 2 hours a couple of times but it's worth being in good hands with friendly staff. read more

Terrible experience with Dr Khan, he gave me wrong test results saying everything is fine. and a week later the nurse tells me i have gestational diabetes,and the front office was supposed to schedule an appointment to another location for the same purpose . it took them a month to do it because they forgot until i went back for my follow up. same with my ultrasound appointments. If u call their office they leave you on hold for half an hr . If you need them to fill out any paper work it takes them a week. So if it's urgent you still have to wait. read more

I recently finished an OB rotation with Dr. Khan. This is an incredibly busy medical practice, as he sees an under-served population, mainly low income and medi-cal OB patients whom many Dr.s turn away for the higher paying insured patients. Dr. Khan has delivered over 10,000 babies in his years of service, and definitely is experienced. Yes, he is very busy, and yes you will probably wait, mainly because many times he is delivering a baby at the hospital. Trust me, when your turn comes you will be glad he is there for you as well. He lives, eats, breaths babies, and this is his passion and life work. Don't expect high end, fancy OB clinic, if you want that, you will have to look elsewhere. However, if you want a Dr. who truly cares about his patients and has years and years of experience, then this is your place. He accepts Medi-cal patients at a time when many OB doctors are leaving the field, or refusing new patients. He is very kind. I can honestly say Dr. Khan is very dedicated to his patients, many times working 16 hours or more and sacrificing his personal life. He definitely knows babies and while he is super busy, I can say that he definitely knows his stuff and has great care and compassion for his patients. . read more
