Updated review. Dr. Huang is THE MAN. I thought I was going to need a root canal for my tooth but Dr. Huang filled it and did it in 40 mins. Never going anywhere else again. I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are about but when I came here last weekend, the whole staff, including Dr. Huang, was really great. The front desk is nice, the lady who cleaned my teeth and created my dental plan was so patient and gentle, and Dr. Huang answered all of my questions very professionally. I've been to other offices where it feels like they're pushing you into doing procedures that aren't necessary and you kind of feel as if you're just a wad of cash to them, but I did not feel like that at all at Dr. Huang's office. They made me feel relaxed and did not go overboard on how many fillings, etc. I needed. I really enjoyed my visit and am looking forward to getting work done here. read more

Best Customer service ,my new favorite dental office.Everyone was very nice and accomodating.

Front desk is friendly, BUT TERRIBLE patient experience. Administration says they will call you back and reassures you they will, but they WON'T. In regards to fixing their billing mistakes or making appointments it was a TERRIBLE experience. They schedule me for a crowning and on the day they call an hour before saying they have to cancel because of overbooking. So it's a very frustrating and such an inconvenience. In regards to rescheduling they called me to let me know one of my appointment was cancelled, then later that day they called to tell me they moved it and then called again another day to tell me they can do part of the services one day and the other services another day so that was unpleasant and an inconvenience. The dental care part: I had a lady dentist (forgot her name!) but she sped through everything and it hurt. So patient care experience was very UNPLEASANT with her. I wanted to get out of there just as quickly as she wanted to get her job done. I had a filling with another male dentist in the same office because the lady was on leave and my patient care experience with him was a 360 flip. I gave 2 stars because of the staffs were so nice. The female dentist that work for my mother was not very patience (sorry for not getting her name). My mother doesn't speak English and she visited the first time without me (I was working at that time). They might have missed communication. The second time I went there with my mother for the consultation of what is going to be done for her, though the appointment was for the actual work, not consultation. I agree that we've made mistake due to mis-communication, but instead of being patience with us, the dentist get so upset regardless of how many time I apology for wasting her time. I made an appt approx 3 weeks ago for a teeth cleaning. I was called by them approx 1 week or more ago asking me if I could reschedule for later this week. I said, sure. I received a call earlier today from a receptionist who told me she needs to cancel my appointment because Dr Huang is retiring. I don't know why but I found the call suspiciously odd. I wonder if they canceled my appt because I told them I had Medi-Cal when I booked it. They told me that they accept medi-cal. And if I'm wrong...and the Dentist is indeed retiring then good luck to him. I just find it odd that they just found out their dentist is retiring. read more

This dental office has really nice front office staff. Dr Zhang was my dental hygienist. I don't feel she cleaned my teeth thoroughly. She said she didn't see any tarter so she didn't clean the back. Until i asked her to. Wth! Seems like she only spot checks instead of cleaning every tooth. She seems lazy quick & ready for me to be out the door in 30minutes. Im going back to Dr Kim. Dr Kim's hygienist cleans every single tooth before you leave. I wouldn't recommend this office to anyone & Dr Zhang doesn't seem very friendly either. The front office gets both stars! read more

I went there for a dental cleaning package. The service should be included the cleaning, X-ray and exam. They took the X-ray of my teeth. But never told me any info of my teeth, like how is my cavity? X-ray is for checking the healthiness of the teeth right? Why taking it if you are not gonna do it? (Just so you did the process ? ) Doctor Huang did the teeth cleaning for me, but that was way too fast compare my last time with another dentist. Maybe just half of the time. He didnot check my gums neither like my last dentist did. ( like those exams usually include in teeth cleaning) This is should be my first time and last time too. The low rating reviews are true. I called to schedule an appointment for my husband who is in EXCRUCIATING pain. He was able to get x-rays at a dental clinic that advised him to find a dentist that will do a root canal. We found this dentist on the Dentical website. Since he is between insurances he was trying to use his denti-cal. The woman answering my called actually told me they wouldn't take dentical because they have too much trouble getting paid. I then asked her how much would out of pocket be, and told her for the second time my husband is in a ton of pain. She told me she couldn't give me a price and actually wasn't even trying give us an appointment. She told me she didnt know what she could do. This is very discouraging, especially because the actual dentists seem great. Maybe you should redo your listing on the dentical website or re-educate your front desk. We were willing to pay out of pocket and STILL were being pushed away. Wow. read more

My parents are looking for a new dentist and I took them to try this office because they have good reviews and speak Chinese. Dr. Huang seemed like a decent doctor, judging from the little time my mom got to spend with him on the first visit. He did quick cleaning and recommended filling for a cavity for the next visit. His assistant Amy has been nice, so has Angela at the front desk. Unfortunately this other woman Holly, who appears to be the office manager, is a snob, a liar, only sees money and behaves as if she's the queen of the place. Although they supposedly take DentiCal, you really only get cleaning and exam with it. She'd charge you for everything else, including the tiny cavity which was barely necessary (for $200!). She has all this lecture about how bad DentiCal is, and blatantly treats you as lower citizens. If they don't like DentiCal, why false advertise, get patients in, then charge people as usual and treat them poorly?! She struck me as rude and condescending from the beginning, which got way worse the second time around, when my father and I had appointments as well (and she saw that I use DentiCal too, and probably can't fund full price procedures for my parents like wealthy and filial Chinese adult children can). We waited 3 weeks for these appointments to ask Dr. Huang some important questions, only to find out that "he is not in office" that day, and we were to be seen by a new dentist, a young graduate who had recently joined. There was no mention of this before the appointments at all, even on the reminder call the day before! Fortunately Dr. Ceng the new dentist is courteous, patient and honest. She couldn't find the cavity either physically or on the x-ray, and told my mom it was optional. This is when Holly claimed that we had to pay upfront, since insurance may or may not cover it. When asked whether she could try getting prior authorization first before we do the procedure, if it's not urgent, she changed her story to "insurance won't cover it, since x-ray doesn't show the cavity, but dentists can recommend the filling if they think necessary". Oh, really?! And now you tell us, after 3 weeks?! We had to go through our sessions with Dr. Ceng one after another, when Dr. Huang was actually IN the office and could have taken one of us at the same time (we noticed that he was just in the other room!). Obviously Holly didn't think we were worth his time. Worse, she denied the fact that he was there! When my mom went back to Dr. Ceng to ask a further question, Holly stopped her, claiming her time was up, and berated us for not following rules there. When I confronted her: "What is the priority here? Your rule or patients' legitimate needs?" She shamelessly answered: her rule. Unbelievable!!! Oh, and each appointment, including the cleaning, was only 30 minutes. Cleaning has been 60 minutes elsewhere. Needless to say we are not going back to this place, if we have to get past this tricky, nasty woman. You may get better treatment if you have private insurance. But for those on DentiCal, be forewarned: you maybe on bait to go there, but then be hit with unexpected charges, and be treated like dirt. First off the staff including the doctor are all super friendly and welcoming. I bought their Groupon and I liked that they treated me like a full paying patient and not someone with a discount. Their offices are nice, clean, and I was able to get an appointment next day. Will definitely be coming back once my insurance kicks in for dental. Highly recommend!! read more

Let me start off by saying that before I went to Dr. Huang, my teeth were in some pretty bad shape with no shortage of extreme pain. Within 3 visits Dr. Huang had me all fixed up ! The first visit he pulled 1 wisdom tooth and the molar next to it on the right side. On the next visit, he did the same thing on the left side. On the 3rd visit, he reconstructed a broken tooth that I did not want to have pulled if I could help it. Before any dental work had begun at the very beginning, I explained to Dr. Huang that I had been severely traumatized by other Dentists in the past which caused me not to go to the dentist for many years and that I was extremely nervous about this whole procedure. Not to mention the infection that I contracted due to bad teeth about 2-1/2 years ago that almost killed me and landed me in the hospital for a month, (Endocarditis, heart valve infection). Most Dentists don't even want to touch a patient with that history because they could be a high risk patient. After telling Dr Huang all that, He said, sit in the chair and just relax. And that is exactly what I did. On the first and second visit, from the very start of the procedure, all the way till after the Novocaine wore off, absolutely no pain, not later that night, not the next day, nothing, no pain (0). On the third visit, no pain at all during the procedure and about 6 hours of very minimal discomfort after the Novocaine wore off. When I woke up the next morning, I couldn't even tell that I had been to the dentist the day before. Dr. Huang is THE BEST, not one of the best, but THE BEST Dentist that I have ever went to. He is Absolutely Awesome, an absolute Master at his Profession ! ! ! I am so glad that I ran across Dr. Huang. Also, 85-90% of this work was paid for by DentiCal, I only had to pay a little bit toward one procedure. Also, Holly the receptionist, who is a very nice Lady, explained the cost that I would have to pay right up front so there was no misunderstanding. I really appreciated that ! She also has a a clear estimate waiting for me the next time I go in there, to tell me what it is going to take to get my mouth back into as close as possible original condition. I will have to pay for most of that because DentiCal does not pay for much, mostly extractions, exams and x-rays,and maybe a cleaning. But I don't mind because it will be money well spent, a little at a time ! Feeling safe, comfortable and no pain is PRICELESS ! ! ! read more

I've been to Dr. Huang for over 30 years and continue to receive excellent dental care from him. He's kind, patient and open to educating his patients on their dental health, and will offer treatment only when needed. Recently he took care of a severely cracked tooth and managed to save it by placing a crown that is comfortable and allows me to chew without pain. read more

I don't normally like writing reviews online, but for Dr. Huang, I'll make an exception. With his recent relocation from Sunnyvale to Millbrae, I felt the need to let the people of his new home know just how lucky they are to have someone as thorough and dependable as him set up shop in their neighborhood. I started seeing Dr. Huang about 8 years ago after he helped my dad out with some major dental health issues left unaddressed by our neglectful, now former, family dentist. My dad had been growing suspicious of all the work his former dentist kept performing on him and decided to get a second opinion from Dr. Huang, who was recommended to us by extended family. Dr. Huang immediately diagnosed a jawbone infection that had gone undetected and untreated in my dad for a long time. Worse yet, this infection had been responsible for a number of mysterious health issues my dad had been dealing with, but because his previous dentist had said nothing about it, my dad's GP was stumped and didn't know how to treat him. Once Dr. Huang cleared out the infection and replaced all the previous dentist's work, my dad's overall health improved significantly, and the entire family has been going to him ever since. Good oral health is no joke, folks. Choose your dentist wisely. Your life literally depends on it, which is why I can't recommend Dr. Huang more. read more

My family and I have been seeing Dr. Joseph Huang for almost 35 years. He has taken good care of us, fixed all our cavities, my children's crooked teeth, and taught us good oral hygiene. Dr. Huang is not kidding when he said his shots are painless. They really are! My children and I cannot appreciate Dr. Huang's painless shots enough! In addition, Dr. Huang is thorough and patient, and he is honest. He never tried to convince us to do unnecessary procedures. He is also a skilled orthodontist to boot. My family has seen Dr. Huang for years but I was living outside of the Bay Area. I was having ongoing problems with a crown from another dentist so I came home specifically to see Dr. Huang.
