I had deep cleaning sections and check ups, which would be cost a lot, but here it costed me about 90$ x 2 after my dental insurance. They were keen to check my insurance and give me a quote. Warning Lengthy Review! What an uncomfortable experience! I came in for the first time about a month ago for a cleaning and left regretting the entire experience. First, no one greets you when you walk in. The appointment was not on time, and when I was finally called back, no one introduced themselves. I was left sitting in the patient chair for what felt like hours. There is also very little privacy between patients. You can see other patients while you are receiving your cleaning, and the space itself did not look particularly clean. The biggest red flag was the man who took my X-rays. He was extremely rough, and he became visibly frustrated when the X-ray pieces kept moving. He is not the doctor, but he asked me personal questions about being postpartum and nursing. I understand that those questions may be relevant, but he then proceeded to ask how much milk I was producing and commented that other women can't produce any. I found those questions inappropriate and extremely uncomfortable. Looking back, I wish I had just left at that point. Lastly, when I was examined and cleaned by the doctor, it felt like very little was actually done. My teeth did not feel any cleaner afterward. She was rough and repeatedly yanked at the tartar. In my experience, other dentists have been much more careful because excessive force can potentially damage teeth. What concerned me even more was that, while using sharp dental instruments in my mouth, I noticed her looking over at and talking to a coworker a couple of times. I did not feel like she was fully focused on my care. At the end of the appointment, I was told that I had some cavities and should schedule treatment with them soon. Needless to say, I declined and immediately booked an appointment with my previous dentist in the East Bay. Overall, I left feeling uncomfortable, disappointed, and concerned about the level of care and professionalism. I will not be returning. read more

I went to this dentist because it was under an insurance plan and I could get cleanings and x-rays at no cost. After the first visit, I was told everything looked good. But on my next visit to get the cleaning, the dentist told me that I needed eight filings and at a very high cost! I haven't had a cavity that needed to be filled in decades, as far back as I can remember. So I went back to my old dentist and he told me that I didn't need any filings. I would not recommend this office. Let me start by saying the receptionist is as rude as can be. I don't understand why some people seem to hate what they do. First, I made an appointment, and they called me the same day to reschedule. Fine, things happen, and I tried to accommodate. I rescheduled my appointment for today at 12 PM. When I entered the office, I greeted the staff, but didn't even receive a "hi" back. I only heard, "I will check you in," without being asked for my name. After waiting 20 minutes without anyone acknowledging my presence or informing me that they were running behind, I stood up and expressed that waiting without any updates was unacceptable. The receptionist was dismissive, barely making eye contact. Finally, someone called my name. When I entered the room, the assistant said, "We are busy, you know." I responded that everyone is busy, but it's important to acknowledge the person waiting and at least say, "We're running late, we apologize." She didn't respond. When the doctor came in, she apologized and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know you were here; nobody told me." Clearly, there's a communication issue in this office. I have to say the doctor was very nice, but she needs to address these issues if she wants to keep her practice running smoothly. As a pregnant patient, I expected at least a bit of extra consideration, but that was lacking. One thing is for sure: I am NOT coming back and will be changing my dentist. I was a first-time patient at this practice today and had a terrible experience. Generally, my teeth are in fine condition. I expect to make one visit to the dentist to get x-rays and cleaning at the appropriate intervals. Today, I arrived, filled out the new patient intake forms, then waited 30 minutes after my appointment time to be seated. Then, it took another half hour to perform the following: 1. Panoramic x-ray 2. Full series of tradition x-rays 3. Several photos on the inside of my mouth Then, they told me that was all for today and I would need to make a second appointment to get the cleaning. By this time, I was already impatient because of the delay being seen and having all of these diagnostic images taken. I explained that I made an appointment for a regular cleaning and exam. I have never before had to split this totally routine care into two visits and was upset that they seemed to have little regard for wasting my time. I explained that I would not be back for a second visit and would like to take all of the x-rays and photos they had just taken with me. They said they would e-mail it to me. I explained that I would like to verify receipt of the e-mail and would wait while they did it. It took the front-office staff 10-15 minutes to send an e-mail after asking me to write down (again) my e-mail address, despite the fact that they had just created a new patient record for me. It contained only the x-rays from #2. I asked about the rest of the images. It took another 10-15 minutes, at which point I asked politely to the front-desk attendant who was reading something on her phone if there had been any progress. She said, "Oh, you should have received it already." They never told me to check my email again. This e-mail contained only the image from #1 above. I requested again to have the rest of the images sent to me, which required another 10-15 minutes. Finally, I received all the images and departed. By this point, it was almost 2 hours after the start of my scheduled appointment time. My suspicion is that this practice will bill my insurance for 3 sets of diagnostic images. If I had agreed to their two-visit process for a basic routine cleaning and exam, they would also probably charge my insurance for two separate office visits. Conclusion: If you would like to have your time wasted, receive twice the dose of x-ray radiation, and require two separate visits for a routine checkup and cleaning, probably so your insurance can be milked for extra services and visits, then by all means this is the practice for you. If you would prefer an efficient, professional, and competent dental experience, look elsewhere. Only positive: the staff were responsive and cheerful, despite having significant difficulty extracting the images they had just taken from their own computer system. Next stop: Lodging a formal complaint with the Dental Board of California. read more

My brother referred me to this dental because it s a filipino clinic. Thinking that its a great place to get my teeth checked. I had my filings done but was chipped after a couple months so I had to return and get it fixed. After 2 weeks my tooth was still sensitive so I returned again and Dr. Koa had to drill again into my tooth now its more sensitive especially to cold. Just to find out I will need a root canal. She messed up my tooth and wasted my time. She also does not explain the procedure that she will do and just digs in to your mouth. She is not focused on what she is doing and always rushing. She fits every patient in her schedule but forgets to be a real dentist and the goal for her patient. She just wants your insurance money. If you want to get your money and time worth and have a good teeth I advise you not to come here. Very disappointing read more

I'm in my 70s and a Kaiser Permanente Advantage Plus member. Includes dental insurance Delta Care USA. In mid-September I went to an A+ dental center named Dr. Annabel Koa chosen by my insurance company for my annual check-up. The first time I went to the clinic to take more than a dozen X-rays, and then it was Doctor A, I don't know his name. He said I had two teeth that I couldn't keep. Next time to come for a deep cleaning and to remove the two teeth that cannot be saved at the same time, then I received the first quote for a total cost of $1416, I have to pay $100 each time, the rest do not have to be paid by me I agree . Then schedule a second deep cleaning on 10/11/22 and 10/18/22 respectively. When I finished two deep washes, I never saw the male doctor again, only the female doctor who cleaned my teeth twice, she asked me to come back on another three-month appointment, and there is no need to pay for the ordinary tooth selection, which is covered. I didn't understand at the time. Follow me to make an appointment with Front office Adriana. She said to go back to the A+Dental Center for filling, and go to the office on 11/4/22. I knew first that I needed to fill three teeth. Adriana asked me to pay $258. When I got to the office, I had to pay. Before filling my teeth, I asked Dr. Memoracion what to do today. I took X-rays together with Dr. Memoracion. She told me that I needed to fill three teeth today, and then I asked her about me. A few more dental fillings. Dr.Memoracion speaks it more times than I hear it. But I haven't seen a doctor before after I finished the deep wash, and there is no one better than me. After this day's filling I asked Front office Adriana how much more needed treatment I needed to do with my teeth. Adriana told me that I would compare a detailed quotation sheet with the suggestion. Two days later, I received an email that asked me to fill ten more teeth and need two more teeth. The total fee is $15131:00. I think the A+Dental Center is so irresponsible, why not have a doctor explain everything in person. It's up to me to ask what Front office Adriana wants me to do with my teeth at the A+Dental Center. I think it's incredible. So I canceled the day I had to continue filling my teeth. Adriana accepts my cancellation and goes to the A+Dental Center to do the rest. On 11/8/22 I received an e-mail from Adriana asking me for another $107, she told me to have one more filling for Dr.Memoracion on 11/04/22, but I have absolutely no way of knowing that she was Nor did I see what she did or tell me what to do. Oh great experience at a plus dental in San Mateo. I had to change dentists because of insurance two years ago and have had nothing but problems since then. I decided to give A+ a try and they are amazing. Everyone I've worked with has been patient, professional, and very kind, the front desk actually read the paperwork I filled out and saw that I have a problem with anesthesia. They make sure the dentist was aware of it and everyone really worked hard to ensure that my anesthesia was handled correctly. That gave me such a sense of relief, and, I'm very impressed by their thoroughness my teeth haven't been clean for 2 1/2 years and they really needed a blow torch to get them up and running. Sandy handled the deep cleaning. She was so gentle and so thorough. She would stop to ensure that I wasn't experiencing pain and that the entire experience was everything I hoped for. I am looking forward to finishing my cleaning. I am just so very impressed with the whole team at A Plus. I haven't had to wait to see the dentist. They are great at scheduling appointments for your convenience not for the earth and he don't make you wait a month for your next appointment and they remind you with text messages and emails. Please read before coming here. I recently had the most traumatic dental experience and would highly advise anyone to go elsewhere if possible. First- the front desk manager tried to charge me extra. There were additional things on the bill that were added to my filling. I asked for an explanation and he had difficulties answering my questions. Tbh I don't mind paying what I owe- but don't try to scam me. He then told me that usually they charge extra for a resin composite filling (the white filling vs the metal) but since they were not charging me extra they added this a fee for a desensitizer. Again- I'll pay for it if you can explain when and what it's for. He couldn't. I then proceeded to tell him that he WAS charging me for the resin composite (which is what was stated on the bill)AND that the payment I owed was exactly what my insurance charges me. I pulled out my insurance policy to show. Again- he couldn't explain. He then said there were limitations and exceptions and would need to review my policy. 1. You should not be charging me extra and 2. It's a standard filling. The whole thing was outrageous and I should have left at that point. But I didn't. The dr who went to do my filling stated that I could probably try the filling without numbing my mouth. So we tried. And I had to stop him bc I could feel it. He then proceeded to numb my mouth. This happened FIVE more times. After the third time I stopped him he chuckled. Then the next time he said "I've already given you three shots- can you try to get through it?" No. I have never felt so shaken up and terrified. I asked for a break to compose myself. He finally gave me a shot in the back of my gums and proceeded with the filling. *****Do not go to this office if you can avoid it. If you can't- be sure to read everything they give you. Know your insurance policy and ask questions. If it sounds false- it likely is. I've already submitted my billing to my insurance office to have them review the fraudulent attempt and to make sure what they charged me was accurate. read more

Wow!! What a HORRIBLE experience! We went to see this dentist. She made us wait 1.5 HOURS in the tiny waiting room before she took us. Then another 30 minutes in the next room. She told us her fee for the dental procedure and presented a form to sign. I was hesitant, but she said "its okay just sign it to indicate that i explained the procedure to you." Before signing, though, i read the tiny font indicating that upon signing the form...we were agreeing to be charged 1300 dollars for the procedure!! I am a young women and new at handling dentist appointments on my own. Unfortunately I have had issues with (only) the front desk associates. First issue was every time I visited I was met with bad attitudes. When I asked them to break down my options for purchasing a crown for the front of my teeth. They failed to explain my three options. Instead I was only explained two options the cheapest one which is full metal (which I don't want in the front of my mouth) and two the most expensive one which is full porcelain. Of course I had to choose the full porcelain which was over 100 dollars too much money. As I am a independent student. They failed to tell me about the middle option which was porcelain on outside with metal inside and was over 100 cheaper. All in all I felt HUSTLED. I was looking for a general dentist as my dentist for 30 years retired, and someone recommended Annabel Koa from A+ Dental. Unfortunately, I live in the South Bay and their closest office is in San Mateo. After a while, I decided to give it a try. Whoa! What a great find. Annabel is not only very gentle, (I hate going to dentist), she was also very thorough. I had to have a crown done for my implant, and she had the lab redid it to make sure that it will fit properly. All through the entire procedure, it was totally painless. Even the tiny needle to slightly numb me during the procedure did not feel anything. I would totally trust Annabel Koa for taking care of my teeth. I don't understand the 2 one star reviews who were both from out of state. One from Washington D.C., and the other from Queens, N.Y. Were they referring to the dental office in their hometown with the same name? What a difference between the two out of state reviews and the reviews from local residents! read more

Do not go to this dentist. First, the customer service is abysmal. The woman behind the front desk is incredibly rude and unprofessional. She acts like you are bothering her by asking her to do her job. Second, they try to force you to come in for a "consultation " before they let you come in for a cleaning or service. I Changed insurance coverage last year and had to use a dentist on their list. A+Dental in San Mateo was on the list. I scheduled a check-up and cleaning in December 2018. I got a check-up and x-rays. I was told I would need a 'deep cleaning' and had a cavity; I would need to schedule three separate appointments for the treatment as the cleaning couldn't be done in one visit, then an appointment for the filling of the cavity. I was told to check with the receptionist who would also give me a printout on the cost. The cost for the cleaning and filling came to $1630.00 with my cost coming to $885.00. I was really skeptical of the need for this super-deep cleaning as I take very good care of my teeth, although I will admit it had been nearly 18 months since my last visit to my former dentist. I choose not to schedule the treatment and decided that if I was going to spend $885.00 I would rather go to my old dentist who I trusted very much. I scheduled an appointment 30 days later with my former dentist. I had a cleaning and check-up including x-rays. The dentist did not find a cavity. The cleaning was a normal cleaning. Hi, don't sent your kids to this dentist, my 6 year old little guy was traumatized after his visit, I was told to wait outside as they have to be careful with the virus, they checked my son's temperature & I filled out the form & off he went, about 28 minutes later my 6 year old came out crying as he was left on his own the whole time, he was so upset, then I asked if I'd fill out a form could I come in with him. Then then did ex-ray & sent him out, he was so quick, I asked my son to show me his teeth & noticed he'd still a bit of Cheerio on them, I asked the dentist if they cleaned them and he said yes, then I showed him he hadn't, then no comment from them, total neglect, I can't believe a business could take your money & not do the work & traumatizes a 6 year old. So be careful they are taking advantage of the COVID-19, Don't wait outside & let your child in on his own, that was my big mistake listening to them & trusting them, it's not ok what they did, a disgrace. They should apologize. I'd never go back again, I'm in shock that they did that to my child. Nobody else was in there so no need to bring my son in until the dentist was ready. Why would they do that to a little guy. They don't deserve to be in business for what they did. read more
