Front desk was friendly, the dental office/equipment looked modern, and the dentists were efficient. Each procedure was explained and front desk helped with scheduling and often notifying for upcoming appointments. So the reason why I stopped going... I had a filling redone due to it coming off. However, I had pain around the same tooth for months. I couldn't eat on that side at all. I went back in for checkups to see if they can figure out what's going on. The head dentist told me to consider getting a crown since there seems to be a cracking on the tooth. They offered to cover the costs however I thought it was a bit extreme to get a crown from a routine filling. Over the next couple months, I would go back multiple times since the pain didn't go away. This included shaving part of the filling, redoing the filling, and trying to figure out my bite. And the final time I went there for a checkup, I was just told it could just be a neurological thing and almost made it sound like it was my fault and they can't do anything about it. The only reason why I kept going back was to give them the opportunity to fix what they had messed up. I ended up looking for another dentist and I told them my issue. They were able to figure what was wrong, and redid my filling. Now I have no pain.

His expertise, attention to detail, and timely intervention made a tremendous difference in my recovery. The large fistula at my left post-molar extraction site put me at significant risk for continued infection. Dr. Khoury recognized the seriousness of the situation and successfully repaired the fistulas, helping prevent further complications. I am truly grateful to Dr. Khoury and his team for their skill, compassion, and dedication. Dr. Khoury didn't just repair a difficult problem--he gave me peace of mind and helped protect my health.

But tldr, it was a very…read moreexpensive service (pricier than other offices) for the basic treatment and to be treated poorly post-operation. First, there's a consultation which was only ~30 minutes talking to the surgeon about the plan and examining X-rays. $150 out of pocket (with insurance). Dr Tsang was good at explaining and provided different options, but be prepared with questions otherwise you won't be able to talk to him till surgery day. Very easy to schedule procedure. Had openings available less than a week out. Does that mean slow business? Other places are booked a month out. Anyways, the staff and surgeon were pretty efficient and friendly. Was fully awake and conscious during the procedure and there were a few things that threw me off during the procedure like hearing the surgeon say, "don't use that tool it's bent and messed up. Let's throw it away". After he uses it on me... And "not sure which screw to use, we'll see after we drill the hole". procedure was only 20-30 min. And generally painless bc of the numbing + local anesthesia. However once procedure was done, quality of service goes downhill. I take an x-ray, sit back at chair and the assistant provides minimal information on getting medication and gives me extra gauze. Then escorts me to the exit quickly. It felt like they wanted me out ASAP. Also, was not given an ice pack! (Which is crucial to reduce swelling. When talking to other friends, they thought it was weird how I didn't receive one). So pack an ice pack for yourself before your procedure! They also failed to mention of how to take care of myself post procedure. Just a half page information sheet and they called that "good enough". They should've gone over it with me!! Once I go to the pharmacy to pick up the prescriptions, they inform me that they don't have my insurance (which the doctor usually includes). So this was an additional hassle. And the day after I have my procedure, my neck and face were completely swollen. It feels like my neck got infected and I called the office during the working hours to ask about it. The receptionist answered, but informed the surgeons were busy and would call back with an answer. Never got this call back and I called a few times after too. What if it's a serious issue? They don't seem to care.

The problems here started years ago, with Dr. Benton frequently not practicing from the office. Instead, she leaned heavily on the hygienists and video assessments, with the hygienists using a camera to send her photos. I was not having issues beyond minor cavities and this didn't bother me at the time, especially during the pandemic. I then needed a cavity filled, which was done poorly by Dr. Benton. I couldn't floss properly between my teeth without catching on it, and the filling fell out quickly and had to be redone by another dentist who was temporarily at the practice. I continued to go for x-rays and cleanings three times a year, to keep on top of gum recession. At my last visit in December, a new hygienist there did a terrible job; she was dipping her fingers in my mouth and dragging my drool all over my face without seeming to notice, and forgot to put fluoride on my teeth even after having a conversation with me about how much I needed it. All the while, telling me what a mess my mouth is and pointing out problems left and right, including telling me my gum recession had worsened significantly and that my back molar was visibly decaying. I was very alarmed to hear about these sudden and severe escalations, after all my previous visits being fine. I questioned her suggestion that my back molar was decaying. After sending digital images and a quick phone call with Dr. Benton, the hygienist informed me that the back molar would need to be removed and they'd refer me to an oral surgeon. I was horrified to get this news without a dentist ever actually looking at my teeth, and said I would think about it. After going home from that visit, my gums were painfully inflamed for weeks; I thought maybe she was right and something was seriously wrong with my mouth, but it went away after a round of antibiotics for another issue. I decided to look for a second opinion and I'm glad I did. After a recent consultation with a new dentist, NONE of the issues that hygienist flagged were present. Dr. Benton had remotely recommended ORAL SURGERY on a tooth that turned out to be perfectly healthy! I trusted Dr. Benton with my teeth for many years, and I'm sad to now warn people away from this practice. The only upside I see at this point is that she still takes Delta Dental, or she did when I was last there a year ago. And in general, I appreciate her office's continued caution regarding the spread of illness. But I don't think that's worth it to see someone who quickly, casually, and virtually pushes unnecessary oral surgery.

I chose this office after reading the impressive professional profiles of the doctors. The physicians are Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons with notable achievements. Located at 901 Campus Drive in Daly City, a multi-tenant medical office building, there is plenty of free onsite parking for visitors. As you enter the office at Suite 303, you are greeted by a contemporary waiting room with comfortable seating and television, free wifi, and minimal clutter to help lower patient anxiety. The front desk staff are also amiable. On the day of V's oral surgery consultation, Tuesday, January 28, 2025, we met with Dr. Sy in a clean, professional space outfitted with digital display screens used to review scans, treatment plans, and imaging with patients. Dr. Sy provided us with a couple of informational sheets and explained to us the surgical procedure for the removal of V's complete boney impaction of his wisdom teeth. Deep sedation was recommended, which V was opting for. I was in tears, apprehensive of the deep sedation and had A LOT of questions (so many that the doctor asked if I worked in the medical field). Dr. Sy listened to my concerns and patiently answered all of my inquiries in detail, calming my fears and giving me a sense of relief. Following the consultation, we met with the friendly Office Assistant to go over the Treatment Plan Estimate. Surgery was scheduled for the morning of Wednesday, February 26, 2025. I was pleasantly surprised by how quick the procedure took to complete and was even more amazed that V was wide awake and coherent when I was brought back to the room where he was. He commented that he felt like he just woke up from a nap. Wow, are all surgical tooth extractions this easy peasy for patients?? Dental Assistant Adrian was extremely polite and wheelchaired V to the outdoor front entrance where I drove my car to pick him up. We were sent home with clear instructions and medicine times. Recovery was smooth, fast and easy, and the post-op check-up on Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 3:15 PM determined that all was good. Dr. Sy and his team turned a scary medical day into a surprisingly stress-free experience. V and I were so grateful for their care. I highly recommend this office and if faced with the need for oral surgery, myself, will not think twice to return to SF BAY ORAL SURGERY AND DENTAL IMPLANTS to be treated by Dr. Sy.
