Bank was actually the first place I went suit shopping back in my early twenties, so coming back felt a bit nostalgic. Over the years I've gained some weight, and none of my old suits fit anymore. I'll admit I was feeling a little self-conscious walking in, but David's professionalism and calm demeanor immediately put me at ease. He took the time to walk me through my options and helped me decide between buying and renting, especially with a wedding just a week away. What really stood out was how supportive and knowledgeable he was. So genuinely helpful. Because of this experience, I'm not only set for the wedding, but I'm also seriously considering rebuilding my suit collection here. (This is really a 1 star review, but due to their GM being so nice and accommodating, I would feel terrible tanking their rating with such a score) Both some of the best treatment I've ever received (Dillon the GM) and some of the worst treatment I've ever received in my life (the two women who were working around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 4th.) Dillon the General Manager was probably the most professional, knowledgeable, and saintly human I've ever encountered during a shopping experience, from my fitting to the return date, no exaggeration. He was truly amazing--I made a mistake reading my tuxedo rental return date and due to my schedule + unfortunate timing with a separate trip + a surprise work trip--I was around 2 weeks late getting my suit back. Dillon was so incredible that he agreed to take 50% off of the exorbitant late return fee I was facing, which he did not have to do--I will never forget how gracious he was--that guy deserves as big of a raise as possible. Unfortunately for Dillon, his two colleagues (Dillon was not working at the time) could not have been more rude, snide, and dismissive towards me whenever I arrived to return the tuxedo. Dillon put in the system that I would be receiving a 50% reduction in the late fee after I explained my circumstances, so that other staff knew to reduce the price if he weren't there. I show up to return the tuxedo and before I can finish saying "Hi, I'm here to return a late rental" the older woman of the two annoyedly asked "...Are you (my name)" I said yes. Then she ANGRILY explained to the other sales associate how Dillon agreed to reduce the late fee, and (as if the money were coming from her own pocket) said, "I tried multiple times to tell Dillon no we aren't doing this but he insisted... so go ahead and ring him up I guess" this woman was so mean. Then, the other woman (Slavic sounding accent) decided to get angry as well--"so you don't have a receipt or anything?? How am I supposed to look you up?" At this point I'm pretty taken aback... (SHE SAID MY NAME WHEN I WALKED IN... she knew exactly who I was), so she proceeded to audibly scoff, then looked me up in 2 seconds with no issues. The entire time I am graciously apologizing--which after my 3rd apology, the older and meaner woman (not looking at me deliberately) said "No it's okay, Dillon is our GM and no matter what it's his decision so there's nothing I can do to stop it." Uhm I was apologizing for the lateness, not expressing sorrow that you weren't able to ruin Dillon's act of kindness in reducing my fee. This woman was reacting as if I had stolen money from her, or had committed a crime, ALL over a kind gesture by Dillon to help me out. I can't stress enough how mean she was--I never leave reviews and have always shrugged off past negative service at other businesses--but this was the worst ever, she was so hateful from the moment that I walked in. As I'm being rang up by the other woman (who was being nice at this point after seeing how taken aback and apologetic I was towards her and her incendiary bully of a co-worker) I apologized again, to which neither of the two women acknowledged me nor said a word. I then got my receipt and left the store. It's truly a shame Dillon has to have his store's reputation tarnished by these two individuals, because he was truly the greatest employee of any business I've been to in my entire life. After a long day of work and stressful traveling, it was jarring to say the least how I was treated. Luckily Dillon was such a saint that I will be back to this location in the future, and I can't wait to be as kind and courteous to these two women, something I was never shown as a paying customer. read more

When a logistical error occurred, the store manager personally got involved to ensure the suits, final fit, and adjustments could be done in two days. I walked in with only 15 minutes to find a suit, and had the best experience ever! Said immediately walked up to me, asked me what I needed, and had me fitted and out the door in ten minutes! We were in town for a wedding & delivery on my husband's tuxedo rental was delayed. We were already anxious about the rental as my husband is a large man and can be difficult to fit. Gerald jumped into action. He had a plan and went out of his way to make things right. Horrible service. Would not recommend at all. Rented a tux and they told me the wrong day to pick it up and when I finally did get it, which was already late, the fit was terrible. Seeing how I owe them a suit, I figured the least I could do is write them a good review. Long story short I took them up on the buy 1 get 3 suit deal in December. When I went to pick up my suits, I was in a rush and did not check if I got my order correct. 3 weeks later I finally try on my 4th suit and I'm drowning it in. Oops not mine. I go in and they quickly exchange it for mine despite the fact that I probably lost them a customer ( whosever suit I had taken). Great service! read more

The staff at Jos A Bank while unable to find what I needed took the time to try. I did end up buying a shirt that I later returned a couple hours later after I was unable to find a suit vest without issue. OK, so Saturday I walk in, cannot get a foot in the door before I am approached by a salesmen who rushes me to the size and suit he wants me to buy. Does not measure me, or even ask me if I have a color or style I am looking for. Never once did I feel like a customer that had a choice, but more like a customer being told what I am going to buy and that I will buy it now. I told him I do not need it until mid-December once I had a chance to get a word in, and the response was horrible. He said "just be sure to give us two weeks to make alterations" and after that I could not get anyone to come near me as if I had Ebola. The quality might be great, but for a $900 suit you better treat me like I am a person, and not treat me like I am going trick or treating in a suit store and I will be happy with what you decide I want / need. read more

They are extremely unorganized, terrible at communicating, and even worse at giving satisfactory service. A Bank has been like 85% positive, and they deserve to be recognized for the following: -Sarah there was great to work with, and was extremely helpful with my indecisiveness in putting together 6 matching suits for myself and my groomsmen for my wedding. She was patient, always available for contact, and honored deals that made the process fairly painless cost wise. If you need a suit, or better yet, a lot of suits, the team here was very helpful and willing to work to get you a deal The catch in the experience was: -A number of groomsmen who had suits shipped to them got incorrect sizes, and while they were able to exchange them easily enough at their local stores--make sure the size information is set in stone with your rep! Still, all of the staff was helpful in getting this correctly, and that can be the extra mile. In short: Sarah is great, go here and take advantage of a buy 1 get 2 free, and be specific when buying suits for others. read more

I made it into this store today. I have never been but was greeted by a mid aged gentleman in a suit, who after looking me up and down decided I wasn't worth his time. In addition as I looked around the store, he began to talk to the cashier said "if I see that lady again and her boyfriend I am going to punch her in the face". Do not have your suit tailored here. My sales rep, Steve, was great; knowledgeable and personable, he chose a great suit for me. However - the tailor is unprofessional; he mis-measured my suit, left it too loose in the waist, cut the legs too short, and did a shoddy job with the seat. When I asked for it to be fixed he kept saying "you look great. It looks great." The worst part is the pants pockets stick out like elephant ears which I asked another tailor is the result of the waist being improperly cut. This tailor LIED saying "it's the style; it's so you can find your pockets. I will not be shopping here again because of this tailor's actions. read more

Do yourself a favor and never, ever go to this store or do business with them online. Customer service is something they do not understand or practice. My forst experience with them was a little over a year ago. I walked into the store, it was empty, and none of the staff approached me. Not even a "Hello." i just walked out and went elsewhere to buy two suits. This past Christmas, I was given a gift card to Jos A. Bank. I figured a year past, so things had to of improved seeing they couldn't sink any lower. I was treated like I didn't deserve to lick their shoes. Absolute snobs. They had their noses so high, I could see their little, insignificant brains. So I walked out. Again. Time to try their online service seeing it's the only way to not have to deal with stuck-up idiots. The bulk of the order shipped... except for one item. It's on backorder and expected to ship on 1/6. January 7th rolls around with no word, so I email them. It takes two days for a reply, and I'm informed the date got pushed back to 1/13. On 1/17, I contact them again about the status. They replay the next day saying, "Our records indicate an error has occurred while processing your order and the order is currently on a held status." I am instructed to call customer service. At least I don't have to talk to anyone at the Congress store. After several attempts and who knows how long of holding, I finally get a person on the line. It turns out rudeness is a requirement for any position at this company. I'm told there is an address problem, and I'm transferred to the address verification team before I can even utter a word. I immediately get voice mail and leave a message. Four days later, I email them for the status of my order and instruct them to find someone who can do their job correctly. After another four days, I send another email letting them know that no one has responded to my email from eight days ago or from my email from days ago. I also informed them that Better Business Bureau is CC'd on the email. I get a response the next day, 1/28, that my order is shipping 1/29. Buyer beware! read more

The service I received here was outstanding. I've been a JAB customer for many years. Once or twice a year, they have a 65% off sale on almost everything. Seriously, probably 90% of their stock is marked down, and that is on top of the 20% code you can use at check out (online.) What a deal! (However, please note they are very clever marketing and pricing gurus. Their corporate strategy entails marking up their regular prices SIGNIFICANTLY and offering sales all of the time, therefore the customer sees a $750.00 suit marked down 50% to $375.00 and thinks the quality and value are probably better than they actually are. JAB is a middle of the road clothier, similar to Brooks Brothers, but in all honesty, maybe not even that good.) Wait until you can get at least 80% off EVERYTHING and you can grab a good deal on quality clothing. Most importantly, I always recommend spending the extra money to get everything you buy, anywhere, tailored. A tailored, middle of the road suit will look sharp, trust me. As a bit of an aside, JAB offers a more conservative wardrobe, so you might want to look elsewhere for double breasted, bright and bold colored/patterned type stuff. It's just well made, reasonably priced navy, gray, black, tans, and subtle pinstripe garments, for the most part. Well, once every other year or so I will buy a "nicer" whatever looks good and other items as needed. This year, I needed a few more things than usual. I ordered everything online and when it came, I was disappointed to realize I was no longer a 32 waist, yeah, little too snug. I took everything in to the store, expecting to have to send a few things back through the store, but no, the team really took care of me. They said they could tailor EVERYTHING I had brought in, and even charge me next to nothing for the two pairs of slacks I needed an inch or two taken out of, awesome! Now, I'm not sharing the following information trying to be hilariously self-deprecating, I just want to let future customers know what great tailoring JAB delivers. Right, so my height (6'0"), waist (32-34 depending) and arms (34 shirt) are about the only normal features of my body/frame. I have short legs (weird looking), a longer torso, as well as very pronounced shoulder, chest and buttocks areas. This has been the case since I was in high school and at least one tailor, in the past, found my frame a bit "odd" and "challenging." JAB dressed me right. Waists now fit comfortably with no pocket bowing, hems break perfectly on my shoe, and my jackets have a nice, subtle hourglass shape. Great customer service, tailoring, and price! Unless they maliciously hurt someone I love, I am a customer for life. read more

Outstanding service!! In April a buddy and I did not realize we needed tuxedos for an event we were attending the next day. Went to downtown Banks and were fortunate to be served by Guy Gum. Extremely knowledgeable and completely committed to outstanding customer service. He helped us with selections and made sure everything would be ready in less than 24 hours and charged a very fair price -- no excess service fees. Mr Gum is a consummate haberdasher. I was hesitant to go here based off the reviews but they were having a sale and it was very cold and I needed a sports coat. I walked in the door expecting to be ignored but instead I was personally greeted by 3 different reps. I chose to work with Sarah. She was polite, helpful, knowledgeable and actually complimented my shoes. I bought what I wanted at a fair price and was treated well. I also noticed a few other customers having a very good experience. Calling reps by name and shaking hands. You never know the way people engage or expect to be treated. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I was in here this afternoon and was treated like a vagrant. The employee who helped me claimed to be the manager. After I approached him for assistance and explained I needed to buy a sport coat today, he made several very rude comments to the effect of him not approving of my presence in the store and suggesting that he didn't have any stock available. Even after he had me try on multiple misfitting coats, he refused to take my measurements. He asked my name, and when I told him, he replied that he didn't care. I placed an online order 11/26/14 for 2 pairs of pants to be sent to my son in Seattle. I asked my son on December 8th, did you get the pants? Answer no. I go online to check the order and it says "status held". I call the 800 number and they say that they can see the order but it appears it has been cancelled even though the online status says held. She says she can't help me but she can transfer me to customer service. I speak with customer service and she says the order wasn't cancelled but the order was held--I said why didn't you people contact me and leave a voice mail message or send me an email message--she says "I don't know"---she also says "I can't help you--I have to transfer you to another department---the "AVS" department. I said what is that--I get an incomprehensible response. Then, I get the AVS department on the line and discover that they have been holding the order all this time because they had to "verify the shipping address because it was different from the billing address"--I said are you kidding me? That you haven't bothered to contact the customer and leave any messages in all this time when I don't even know there is any issue with the order placed. Nordstrom's wouldn't do this. Frontgate wouldn't do this. Amazon would never do this. Zappos doesn't do this. I place online orders to send to my out of state children all the time. I told the nice man that this would be my first and last order with Jos A Banks. The worst customer service experience I've ever had. You place and order and surprise you have no idea it never shipped!!!! Then you call the 800 number and have to speak to 3 different departments...Management must be completely inept and incompetent to run a business like this. read more

Used Jos A Bank for tuxes at my wedding. The first guy in the store wasn't helpful because he's not the "tux guy" and we made some choices we later decided were bad choices (i.e. Vests in the middle of summer). Went back to talk to the "tux guy" and updated our order. Apparently he never put the update in and we had the wrong tuxes for our wedding. That day when we realized and called them in a panic, they let us get black suspenders (ordered white) but wanted to charge us for getting the white pocket squares we ordered. They refused to recognize their mistake. Terrible service. I wouldn't recommend using them for tuxes. read more

This is the worst mens store I have ever been too. I have come into this store twice already and both times the customer service was horrible. I went in today during lunch and was dressed casually in jeans and a button up. Every time I step into this place they give you this look like you dont belong. I usually see very few if any people ever in there. So I was walking around for a bit before anybody decided to see if needed help. Three people working there doing really nothing. So finally this overwieght white man asked me ifI had been helped so I told him that I was looking for dress shirts. He started to tell me about the shirts they had. He said he would only let me try them on if I was going to buy. I said okay just cause I wanted to see how they would fit. The fit was okay but I just wasnt ready to buy then and there. When I told him this he looked at me like i was stupid.I apoligized to him if he had to refold the shirt but I dont like to be forced into anything. Now I understood he may have been trying to make a sale but its the overall experience this place gave me. I would never come back here and I hope no one else does. read more
