Using Yelp, and its star reviews, I selected family-owned Sandfield Air Systems. My wife and I are in our 80s and enjoying the quiet life of retirement. Brett was our service technician and after patiently listening to my telling him how to do his job, assured me our thermostat was not likely the problem, but just a symptom. He demonstrated how over time the system's humidity drain becomes blocked and in doing so, can trip it's overflow cutoff switch, thereby shutting the entire system down thereby avoiding flooding of the attic and everything below. Finally a technician that not only knows his business, but can educate customers about system operations well enough to minimize future occurrences. Equally important, he explained more about the functionality of our system and the optimum settings for ongoing creature comfort. Beautiful, I signed up for their semi-annual maintenance inspections and can now rest assured our home and it's largest mechanical system is in good hands. Thanks Brett, you did good. Now, what else can I fix?

This company was recently bought by Air Georgia. We have two separate systems, one which provides…read moreair conditioning/heat in the main area of the house which is a gas furnace/air conditioner and a heat pump which provides air conditioning/heat to the top floor and a room adjacent to the house. One week in August, the two rooms controlled by the heat pump, began to read in the high 80's. We notified Snellville Heating, Air & Plumbing as we had a maintenance contract with them. They responded promptly and told us something may have been jarred in the air handler zone control board. They only charged us the service fee of $79.95. When they were here the rooms became cooler, however, within hours the rooms returned to temperatures in the mid-eighties and we had to have them back that same day. They then told us refrigerant was needed and they added 1 1/2 pounds of refrigerant for a cost of $150. The next day the temperature in these two rooms again returned to the mid-eighties. Snellville Heating, Air and Plumbing returned that day and said they replaced an electric shut-off switch in the condenser and there was no charge. We thought the problem was fixed but the temperature rose to the mid-eighties the next day. Snellville Heating, Air and Plumbing returned that same day and then said the Condenser Computer Board was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced at a cost of $495. The part was unavailable until the next day at which time they replaced the Board. However, within 2 days, the temperatures again rose to the mid-eighties. A fifth visit was made and this technician told us the problem was a leaky heat pump in the condenser coil and said this needed to be replaced with just a part or a new system was recommended since our current system was ten years old. They quoted at a cost of over $13,000 for a new system. At this time they gave us complimentary refrigerant to keep the room cool while we made a final decision to replace the part or the whole system. We lost all confidence in Snellville's competence in diagnosing our HVAC issues as it took 5 TECHNICIANS coming out multiple days in a row before the correct assessment of the problem was made. We asked management for a cancellation and reimbursement for our second maintenance visit, which the did. However, they refused to reimburse us for the $495 fee for the Condenser Computer Board stating we approved the work to be done. REALLY!!! My response was that as 70+ year olds we TRUSTED the technician that was the issue but in reality we had a LEAK, only identified on the 5TH VISIT and we were due a reimbursement which they REPEATEDLY DENIED. We are not HVAC knowledgeable but in retrospect, shouldn't the need for refrigerant added on the second visit be a "sign" there might have been a leak? They said they were offering a 10% discount on a new system and an upgrade to a higher grade system at no additional charge and that was their compensation. My response was we had lost ALL CONFIDENCE with them and would NOT be using them for a new system. If it took 5 VISITS BEFORE the proper diagnosis was made how could we TRUST them to properly install a new system and maintain it. Additionally, that $495 Condenser Board was of no use to us since we bought a new system from another HVAC company who did CONFIRM on their initial visit there was a leak. This has been a most regrettable situation which has caused us much angst as senior citizens. As a side note, we were told the owner was aware of our dilemma but he never personally called us which we expected given our level of concern.

After five other companies/people looked at it, Hale's not only fixed the problem the first time, they spotted stuff that once they pointed it out, should have been obvious to the other guys--and I had a big name that runs ads on the radio out first. The big name company missed the obvious problems. Hale's did not. Everyone they've sent out or I've talked to on the phone has been polite and ready to help. On top of that, their guys are honest and explain everything clearly. I understand my system better now, and this past week when I had another problem, they explained all my options simply so that I could make an informed decision. Fair prices and they got to me fast both times I've had them out. These guys are the real deal. I'm calling them first for all my HVAC needs from here on out.

The services described in the provided service agreement were not done. the agreement says "Ductwork: Check for air leaks, and seal ducts." AND also " Insulation: Inspect and maintain insulation on ducts and refrigerant lines." These items were not done. When I called to talk about it the manager or whoever I talked to kept asking if I told him about a problem and That he looked at the ductwork at the inside unit. There is NO ductwork at the inside unit. There is a plenum which goes into the attic where the ductwork is. There was insulation missing on the chilled supply line from the exterior AC unit. That was not repaired. And he never looked at the ductwork at all and it was in need of repair. She kept arguing, talking over me! that he had done everything and that the ductwork was not included and saying he had done everything. So she just deleted the invoice.Now they can probably claim that this review is fake. It is not. They were very unpleasant

They have a Carrier HVAC system, which started giving them trouble. They live in near Athens, GA, I live in California. Mom called D & D to make a repair on their AC. They came out and told told my parents that they were placing a "band-aid" on their AC system, that it didn't need a repair. D & D charged them a ridiculous amount, 3 times what the other companies quoted. They were told D & D's price only after the "band-aid" repair had been done. One month later, mom's AC went completely out. This was on a Wednesday. My parents called every day through Friday and no one called them back. The heat was unbearable, my dad and mom were having a very difficult time breathing, getting around through the day and sleeping. Both my parents and myself left messages letting D & D know this. Still, no one would call us back. I started calling D & D (from California), trying to get a response. I placed many calls throughout the weekend. No one from D & D answered their phones (I called both advertised numbers), they didn't answer my email or call me back. Finally, on Monday, we contacted another HVAC company and they came to my parents (from another state!) to make the repair. They were wonderful and came very quickly. D & D finally called my parents back saying they were in their offices the whole time!!! Mom told them they would NEVER be called by her household again. Had a work-in visit today from Airmaster for a old old old unit that stopped working over the…read moreweekend. The horizontal unit is tucked away in a kneewall and is difficult to access the drain pan....which was the entirety of the problem. Clogged drainline which resulted in a float switch stopping the entire unit until emptied. The closed in area was no problem for the tech, Richard...who unclogged the line and then heaved himself into the knee wall between the rafters and horizontal furnace in order to clean the pan. Checking the pressure at the condensing unit, we had sufficient everything including temp testing the supply and return ducts....he wrapped it up in less than an hour and back to cooling off that portion of our home. It always an expense to call in for any maintenance and repair on any part of your home....but fair prices and good workers makes it worth the while for my continuing to call back AirMaster.

I placed a call for AC repair and received quotes for duct cleaning and a yearly AC subscription plan all unnecessary and not related to my issue at hand. Tech then became fixated on service request fee. This company is only concerned with how much money they can squeeze out of you and absolutely rude to the customers. The entire company starting with the owner including staff are rude and focused on charging you the absolute maximum rather than ensuring your AC unit is repaired. Look at the response from the owner which is proof that you DO NOT want to use this company there's your customer support!!!
