Jones Beach is beautiful, this is our 2nd visit and this time we brought our bikes to bike the whole path. There was a lot of construction this year so some areas we couldn't access that we did last year. Welp that just means we will need to return! We come in town to see Dave Matthews Band and come to the beach early in the morning to enjoy the area, this year we ventured almost all of it but there's a few areas we will need to check out next year!

Visited Jones Beach state park over the weekend for the Memorial Day air show, and it was an absolute blast! The air show is amazing, held every Memorial Day weekend to kick start summer, however: it definitely did not feel like summer this past weekend with the temps being only in the 50s. Nevertheless, we had a great time spending about 6 hours on the beach. For events like this, it's always best to get here early!! Once the parking lots and fields are full, they're closed off: so getting in will be a hassle, or, you might not even be allowed in. We arrived at the beach around 6:45am, and there were a lot of people setting up for the day. The lot we were in, field 7, was closed by 10:30 and no one was allowed in. There are showers and restrooms through the beach, and each field had their own facilities; for the most part they were kept clean. There are also some cantinas offering small bits and beverages, keep in mind this will definitely break your wallet! The beach allows you to bring bags, coolers and everything you may need for the day, so bring your own food and drinks and you'll easily save a few hundred bucks. (Depending on your group size of course). A definite must if you ever get the opportunity not only to visit the beach, but to also check out the amazing air show.

Got up bright and early to be apart of the Breast Cancer walk. It's always crowded with plenty of women and men supporting the cause as well as many survivors. We all represented with our pink on. Parking lots were packed but enough spaces for us all.

Half enjoyed an bacon, egg and cheese sandwich. Definitely loved it.

What a beautiful place to spend the day. Visited to watch The Blue Angels show and did not disappoint. Love the sand the court food. The shops everything. They put so much care to keep it clean it was amazing to see . We will definitely plan for another weekend.

Jones Beach opened August the 4th 1929 and still is one of the most popular beaches on Long Island. there's the ocean part if you like the sun and swimming in the ocean and there's also Zach's Bay which is for people who like to swim in calmer Waters. they also have volleyball courts, shuffleboard and miniature golf and if your adventurous they opened up a brand new zipline area that looks like fun. there are also plenty of places to eat and to park

Most unmantained restrooms of any State Park. The State employees running the show have for years, dropped the ball and dont care.

Really beautiful area! The beach and boardwalk and very well maintained and clean. Also found a really great selection of shells compared to other beaches. Also huge parking lots.

Beautiful ocean! Bathrooms need a full upgrade. Lots of parking. The newer nature center is really nice, great for families.

Ask the Community - Jones Beach State Park

Are there any stands that sell beach umbrelllas?

Yes, they have stands that sell beach umbrellas

Is there a restaurant on the beach?

Yes, there is Gatsby on the Ocean restaurant and several small take outplaces on the boardwalk.

    Is there a food court?

There are multiple concessions up and down the beach, along with a restaurant. Jones beach is miles long so there is no one "food court". But there are many places to get food and drink

Are there good surfing waves? Or separate sections for surfers?

I believe there's a separate section because This beach gets crowded especially on weekends.

Are there grills on fields 1,6 and 10? I know you can bring your own on those fields, but is there an area where there are already some there?

Definitely not on 6 but possibly 1 or 10

Can I go to Jones beach at 5am?

Yes, the beach opens at 5 am.

Are there grills or can we bring our own?

There are picnic areas with picnic tables and grills

Are there any restrictions to a tent on the beach?

No. I've used both a 10x10 gazebo style shelter and a small 2 person sun shelter in the past without any problems.

Is preferred parking worth it for a concert?

    No

Are there showers? As in, could I spend the morning at the beach, shower and get dressed for a concert at the amphitheater that night?

Yes! I stayed at field 2 last time and there were showers. Just bring your toiletries.

Are dogs allowed on the beach?

An enclosed dog park with separate areas for big and small dogs gives dogs of all sizes some room to roam. While dogs are not allowed on the beach, except on leash during the months of September through March, the dog run is an opportunity for… Read more
