I especially like this field because the parking is so close to the beach and you don't have to walk that much compared to other fields. I find the sand to be the most beautiful of Long Island beaches. There's so much space and if you want to just hide away in a private area, it's so vast , I wish the actual bar at field 6 was a lot larger, there's enough for six people to sit down at best. Also, when they serve you a beer, they pour it in a plastic cup, which of course makes the beer warm pretty quick. The boardwalk is absolutely amazing, plenty space for people to bicycle and walk without having issues. And there is also many benches to enjoy the view of the ocean. Parking can be a little bit challenging, but there's so many fields. You'll eventually find something. read more

Jones Beach is beautiful, this is our 2nd visit and this time we brought our bikes to bike the whole path. There was a lot of construction this year so some areas we couldn't access that we did last year. Welp that just means we will need to return! We come in town to see Dave Matthews Band and come to the beach early in the morning to enjoy the area, this year we ventured almost all of it but there's a few areas we will need to check out next year! read more

Parking is $10, but there is otherwise no fee for getting onto the beach! There is admittedly not a ton of commercial restaurants or stores nearby, so do bring everything you need to enjoy a day at the beach! The sand and water was so clean and nice. It was also a lot less crowded than the Rockaways. Highly recommend! read more

Visited Jones Beach state park over the weekend for the Memorial Day air show, and it was an absolute blast! The air show is amazing, held every Memorial Day weekend to kick start summer, however: it definitely did not feel like summer this past weekend with the temps being only in the 50s. Nevertheless, we had a great time spending about 6 hours on the beach. For events like this, it's always best to get here early!! Once the parking lots and fields are full, they're closed off: so getting in will be a hassle, or, you might not even be allowed in. We arrived at the beach around 6:45am, and there were a lot of people setting up for the day. The lot we were in, field 7, was closed by 10:30 and no one was allowed in. There are showers and restrooms through the beach, and each field had their own facilities; for the most part they were kept clean. There are also some cantinas offering small bits and beverages, keep in mind this will definitely break your wallet! The beach allows you to bring bags, coolers and everything you may need for the day, so bring your own food and drinks and you'll easily save a few hundred bucks. (Depending on your group size of course). A definite must if you ever get the opportunity not only to visit the beach, but to also check out the amazing air show. read more

Seriously , how lucky are we to have Jones Beach in our backyard ? This is a WORLD CLASS beach !! It's got class...much of the design is to resemble a cruise ship in Art Deco style. So there is the Boardwalk and funnels(that hide waste cans)and even a mast with pennants in the center. You've got a restaurant in Gatsby's which is terrific. Air shows, fireworks are amazing. Have those Jets rumble overhead? Has to be experienced. The sand is white and soft. There are concessions and even a beer garden on the Boardwalk. Did you know you can ride your bike on the boardwalk ? And beyond ? You can even ride to the beach on a paved trail on Ocean Parkway. Not into waves? Hit the pool or swim in Zack's bay. Haven't been in a while? Did you know you can zip line there now ? Mini golf, basketball, softball, pickleball, shuffleboard. It's all there . I do a lot of traveling. There are people who never even see a beach or an ocean .They are lucky if they have a lake. They can't even fathom what we've got here. Parking is ten bucks but do yourself a favor and get an Empire State pass. It's 80 bucks and you can use it to get into ANY state park. They give you a break on renewal and here's a tip. Keep the membership card , have someone else get the app. They can download your card to the app. See where this is going ? Growing up, I always looked forward to seemingly endless summers at Jones Beach with family and friends. Also attended many awesome concerts at the Jones Beach Theater. The Boardwalk Cafe reopened post-COVID but I can't speak for the food or service since I have never eaten there. Many of the buildings feature Art Deco architecture and the water tower serves as the central feature of the park. I also remember accompanying my family for a fun day of fishing out at the piers at Field #10. Good times and looking forward to making more memories in the future! read more

Got up bright and early to be apart of the Breast Cancer walk. It's always crowded with plenty of women and men supporting the cause as well as many survivors. We all represented with our pink on. Parking lots were packed but enough spaces for us all. read more

Summer again! It's time to go to the beach. Jones Beach is one of not too far and the outer barrier islands off the southern coast of Long Island New York. Swimming is allowed only when lifeguards are on duty. There is no admission charge to visit the Jones Beach. Dogs are only allowed off-leash and to swim in the southern area of Jones Beach. This area is indicated by northern and southern boundary signs on the beach. Dogs are prohibited at all times from all other areas of the beach, including dunes and the rock platform. read more

Solid beach in Long Island. We have friends who live roughly 25 minutes away, so when we decided to have a beach day, they suggested Jones Beach. We arrived around 10:20am on a Sunday and Lot 6 was already full, so we parked in Lot 5, which is essentially across the road. You access the beach via a tunnel that goes underneath the road. Parking was $10, cash only. The beach is fine, the sand is really soft and there are bathrooms along the beach. The water is clean, but there is a lot of pebbles and broken shells to get into the water, so if you have sensitive feet, bring water shoes. The beach was starting to fill up when we arrived and got really full by the time we left, so I do recommend going early - or later in the afternoon when people are leaving (we left around 3:15pm and someone came in and swooped up our spot. read more

I've never been much of a beach person. I do remember as a child coming here and of course yelling in the tunnel to hear my echo...it was just a Long Island thing. As I've gotten idler I prefer to walk the boardwalk and head to the beach when it isn't crowded. It's more enjoyable that way....calm and peaceful. Jones Beach is on the South Shore of Long Island, and one of Long Island's longest beach. It has definitely grown over the years with more things to do. As of my recent visit I've noticed new restaurants, and a zip line. read more

This is great beach for Perfect summer day! if you're taking the n88 bus to get there, $2.75 by MTA card or Coins. you should be there at least 20min earlier the driver will leave early - sometimes 10min / 20min whenever he wants. I just realized that I had not been to this amazing beach in well over a decade. I'm not much for big crowds and the Point Lookout beach is much more convenient for us. Yesterday, I took advantage of free parking off season weekdays and checked out the boardwalk, starting a field 6. Even with half of the parking spots coned off, there was plenty of parking, and I headed past the whale sculpture towards the center. There were quite a few people taking advantage of the boardwalk - most walkers and some bicyclists. There are signs that state the rules for bikers - mainly common sense. Go slow and look out for pedestrians. Many did, and others had trouble reading that sign when they were hauling at full speed. Walking past a large area of picnic tables and shuffleboard courts, it was easy to forget that there was ocean to my left. Easy because it looked to be a half mile walk to get your toes wet. Not sure if this was due to dredging or if the beach is really that wide. There are several eating places along the way, but I could not tell if any of them were open because I was pretty early. It did appear that the Greek food truck was gearing up for dishing out the gyros. All in all, it was a great place for an hour's walk on a mild morning. Just stay to the right and be vigilant. read more

I just came here with my class and we were waiting in the freezing cold weather for a hour and a half we got to go on onto the zip line and no courses and when I finally got to the course the course was "allegedly" closed if you ever think about taking your kids/family here I would not recommend. I went last week and the week before and the week before right before camp started and everything was at capacity. You know why. Because it's clean and nice and there's food, parking ($10) and the beach AND the pool. My teens enjoy the refreshing cold water and I like the relaxing setting. It's safe. We go to Jones Beach State Park, EVERY YEAR, for the air show. It is amazing to see how many things have to come together, in order to make these air shows take place without any issues. I really appreciate that the park installed the runners, that go from the moment you step onto the sand until you are about 3/4 of the way to the water. This makes it A LOT easier to pull any coolers, wagons, or pushing strollers. There are many trash cans, that are placed about every 100 feet on the sand, and it alleviates trash flying all around the beach The lifeguards are always professional and do a great job at keeping swimmers safe, especially when the aircraft are flying. This year's air show featured the Navy Blue Angels and they put on a memorable performance, as always. If you've never seen them perform, please do so. Words cannot explain what you will see and feel. Attending these air shows are a great way to welcome in the summer and Jones Beach State Park never waivers in making it happen. read more

Jones Beach is just an okay beach. There are better ones in Long Island. It gets too crowded on the weekends and it is just a parking lot and a beach. Long Beach is closer, is just as clean and is actually surrounded by restaurants and bars. Robert Moses is only a little further but it is just as nice and less crowded. Jones Beach is a fine option for Westchester people like me, and a great option for people coming from NYC. It's definitely more Laissez-faire than the Jersey Shore (you can easily smoke and drink) and the ocean water is surprisingly clean. First time visiting this place since I was a teenager. Waves get big here, so do be mindful of your surroundings if you're towing around little ones or aren't a good swimmer. Beach is a lot cleaner, thanks likely to there being a lot more trash bins around. I have not-so-fond memories of dodging tons of cigarette butts and garbage while barefoot. They have a blue runner that extends from the boardwalk to about 3/4 of the way to the water; brilliant idea to help people travel to/from the beach faster and without burning their feet on the sand. It just needs to be wider, as there's a lot of folks who take up the whole runner and are too busy lollygagging or chitchatting to notice there's an army of people behind them trying to get around. We didn't have a beach umbrella, so we bought one from the gift shop for $22. It barely lasted 30 minutes and is probably at least part of the reason pretty much my entire torso got burned. Yeah, don't make our mistake. They have umbrella rentals for the day, but they cost almost twice as much. The snack bar was very sad, coming here as a child. You had a choice between hamburger, hot dog and fries. Only drink choice was soda. You had no choice but to sit on these rickety wooden benches covered in seagull poop. The dining options have improved slightly, but (shocker) it's still grossly overpriced. At least there's an outdoor bar now and better tables. They even sell soft-serve ice cream, which is actually pretty good and oddly enough the best value in the whole park. So come and bring the fam here. Parking is only $10. You don't have to pay a toll anymore. Have a good time. Although I would bring my own lunch. read more

I haven't been to Jones Beach since I was a baby. Well, a proverbial baby in my teens. Stopped by for a beach day. Was searching online for details on which field to go to, and eventually just settled on Field 4 because there was a concert later that night and we didn't know how bad/weird it'd get. Field 4 is alright, but holy crap, this beach is wide. And there's no actual boardwalk path to get to the water. So prepare for a ton of walking on hot sand. The parking lot also isn't that close, so don't count on carrying anything super heavy (unless you have a wagon or are looking for a workout). All that said, it's nice and clean. There were lifeguards on duty through some parts. And when the wind wasn't blasting sand in our faces, it was a nice and relaxing way to kill a day. $10 parking. read more

It's a good beach, not a great beach. If it's a last minute idea to go to the beach, this place will do. If you're lucky enough, you'll find a spot where there are no ratchet people that play music loud because they think they own the beach or smoke their cigarettes or weed. Amazingly, as I type this, the weed smell blows my way and ratchet people that don't know how to act outside argue with other people over nonsense. It's $10 to park per car from 8am-4pm weekdays and 7am-6pm on weekends and holidays, unless it's a holiday or weekend, then the hours are extended. read more

At Jones Beach right now. I like going to either field 2 or 6 when im here. With 2 you can easily access the boardwalk and have to walk about 10 mins to go to the beach. With field 6 you park right in front of the beach and voila you're there! Beach is clean and safe and my favorite part is walking down the board walk. You're also able to bike here so that's fun. Only thing is you have to pay for parking ($10) and there's no other way around it unless you park at cedar creek park and jog/run/bike which is like 13 miles away. read more
