I was in shock as a) I've had one cavity in my 40 years; and b) I had a cleaning 6 months prior by a different DDS with no mention of any cavities. I declined the treatment. My suspicion that this was an attempt to bamboozle me into unnecessary treatment was confirmed yesterday after treatment by another DDS who also found no cavities - this was (again) just 6 months after my treatment at FBD. It's unethical to behave in this manner and I hope other patients stick up for themselves and avoid this type of fleecing (but keep flossing).

The hygienist, Jennifer, was gentle during my x-rays and cleaning which helped ease my nerves. Dr. Mateen informed me that I had a cavity and the office assistant was able to confirm with my insurance and tell me how much I would owe out of pocket. I figured I would have to come back another day for the filling but she informed me that he could do it the same day if I had time. This made me nervous because I wasn't expecting to get a filling the same day but I decided to just get it over with. Key came to take me to another room and explained the filling process which eased my nerves. Dr. Mateen joined her and also explained the process and after care. Dr. Mateen and Key were gentle and made my numbing and filling quick and easy. The office has a welcoming atmosphere and everyone I encountered was nice. However, during my visit, one of the dental assistants taking my X-rays put what appeared to be a used bite block in my mouth. It had visible bite marks all over it. As soon as I noticed, I immediately jumped up and asked, "Why would you put that in my mouth when someone else has already used it?" Instead of taking the situation seriously, she laughed it off and said, "Oh, we can give you a new one." I was completely mortified.
