My previous dentist was good, yet they didn't really handle the administrative side very smoothly from time to time. They stopped accepting my insurance although it hadn't changed and were not careful with helping me keep my out of pocket expenses lower. They tried to stick with me a $90 invoice for an error on their part and that didn't sit well with me. Avalon Dental has been taking care of me for about two years now. With Avalon, I am clear on what my out of pocket costs will be up front. They have been able to accommodate me when my insurance has changed. Their high quality of leadership is apparent and their customer care is top notch. I feel well taken care of and appreciated. This would be my 2nd year, and could have been my children's 2nd year, with Avalon. Last year's experience was exceptional for me and my children because we were new patients, IMO. I had an appointment with them today for a cleaning, which, unbeknownst to me until I had to pay my co-pay, turned out to be a periodontal cleaning. The co-pay was higher than usual, and, of course, I questioned it since I have exceptional insurance. The person I spoke to TRIED to be patient while explaining to me the difference between a periodontal and a regular surface cleaning. Not sure why they're taken aback when patients question their services and prices. This is a service business the last time I checked. My next scheduled appointment is in July, and I moved my children's appointment onto the same day, which will make it easier for me to cancel our appointments if I choose to. It's a new year, so my dental insurance just reset. Prior, my and my children's dental group of 5 years were the excellent until we had to move. Within throwing distance we have Sapphire, Grand Mission, Studio Dental, etc. who have high ratings, not only on Google, but also on Yelp. I have options. read more

If you are looking for a Dental office that will take care of you visit Avalon. I have been going here for a bout three years now. They are very flexible. I travel a lot and had to cancel my appointment like 2 or 3 times. Then when I got back in town I call to make an appointment, and They had an opening the next day that they gave to me. They have all of the latest equipment. When they see anything that you need they bring it to your attention and make sure that you understand what the issue is and how it can be or should be treated. Avoid this clinic if you're planning to visit with insurance--it's a complete scam! They have no idea what they're doing. I was assured that my doctor was in-network and even received an estimated bill, which I paid upfront for the uncovered portion. However, when the claim was processed, the doctor turned out to be out-of-network! The clinic manager was unprofessional and dismissive, insisting that the doctor was 100% in-network and that the issue would be resolved. After a 15-minute discussion, she never apologized or even acknowledged the mistake. In the end, they received payment from both me and my insurance for a covered service but refused to issue a refund. I've never seen such a cheap and dishonest clinic willing to lose both current and potential customers over a couple of hundred dollars. This was, without a doubt, the worst dental experience I've ever had. read more

I used to hate going to the dentist until I found Avalon. Of course I have to mention COVID protocol-- Avalon takes many measures to ensure the patients as well as staff are safe. I didn't have any extra, random charges. Everything was set in my treatment plan and reviewed with me before beginning. I almost don't want to add this because she's already so booked lol but My hygienist, Jessica, was FANTASTIC and the sole reason I'd make this place my go-to dentist from here on out. I recently convinced my husband to go to Avalon a while back for his dental issues and he told me they made him feel uncomfortable and gave him a judgy feeling. I told him it's all in his head and dental visits are stressful, and they're ok with me. On my husband's last visit I went with him and sat in the waiting area. I'm assuming my husband was asking Dr Yu lots of questions about what kind of procedures and cost he was going to hve look forward to and Dr. Yu came out NOT KNOWING I was his wife in the waiting area and told the girl up front to run his credit card now just to make sure he "...doesn't get screwed." I work in the medical field. NOT APPROPRIATE AT ALL. I understand he's not working on teeth for the love of it and it's a business but he could have some couth as a medical professional. And what if I was not his wife!!!!! & someone else would hve heard him say that. HORRIBLE BEHAVIOR. My husband is self conscious about his teeth and I couldn't tell him what Dr. Yu said. It would be terribly upsetting to him and it would hurt my feelings to let him know that. But needless to say i'm looking for another DDS. Definitely can not trust someone who feels that way about my husband to give the best advise and care to him, me or anyone else. I would go elsewhere!!!! BEWARE. Who knows how bias Dr Yu and his staff are. They may overcharge those who he deems hve deep pockets and poorly manage the care of the ones he thinks can't afford his services. STAY AWAY! read more
