The food at Jon Boys is good! You can't go wrong with the barbecue, fries, and the stew!

I would have given a five star; rating, this was a drive through, pick up order, and what was supposed to be onion rings looked like scraping from the drain pan of a blooming onion and i can almost bet it was because of all the salt that was on it. It was 7:45 when I placed my order. I realizing they closed at 9:00 if they didn't have onion rings or didn't want to cook any more i would have accepted, but to pass off crumbs from the fry basket or the drain pan, was just plain wrong on every level!! read more

My wife and I came in and we were instructed to take any seat we wished. We sat in view of the staff standing around talking. No one attended us and after a good half hour of waiting to put our order in we decided to go somewhere else. No drinks, no menu, nothing! The Staff let us walk out without saying a word to us. Our server at 11:00 am took our order. After 20 minutes she came back and told me they was out of what I ordered and blamed the kitchen. She asked me would I like something else. I asked for a menu to DO THAT! I ask was my friends food done s h e said yes. She got my friends food and suggested I get the same. I agreed out of hunger. what a waste of money. ordered the lunch "special " and didn't eat but 3-4 bites. Either is was cold tasted bad or booth. waitress looked at my plate and saw 95% of it still on my plate and said "hoped you enjoyed your meal and hope to see you back". breaded meat tasted like they defrosted it and slung it on the plate and bypassed the stove. okra was stone cold and the coleslaw was so full of vinegar it was truly unfit for consumption. staff behind the counter was more concerned about what they read on Facebook and my waitress was just plain uninterested in providing even basic service. read more

Love the laid back southern vibe of Jon Boy's. The menu is extensive. We asked our server her favs, and chose the Bacon Cheeseburger. It was one of the best we've had! Outstanding and quick service. So glad we happened upon it on our way home from Auburn. We will definitely be back! read more

Saturday night, obviously under staffed!! Not approached at table by staff (had to ask for menu and help). Other tables of folks waiting over 45 min. were leaving. Not worth the wait, steak came out cold! Side salad never came out. Tables not bussed. Etc etc. Wait staff was nice, but not hustling to make it happen - all 2 girls waiting on tables. There's a BBQ restaurant like this in every small town across the South. So it's nothing unique but it's decent food at a fair price. The pork was chopped a little too much for my preference but still had a good smoke flavor. I had the hickory fried and enjoyed them. Wish it had more cheese and was shredded but they were still tasty. There were two options for BBQ sauce and both were good, though I preferred the mustard based sauce. All-in-all, I was not disappointed with my lunch and I'd eat there again. read more

Second time I've come for the steak, only to be told they were "out" (once is an accident; twice is intentional). So on this occasion I decided to get the fish and shrimp. The shrimp was good enough, but the single piece of fish was small, fried hard, and tasted strongly of lake water. I was able to scrape maybe 2 ounces of barely edible meat off the bone. The waitress who took our order disappeared, never came back for refills. Very disappointed this time, guess I'll just go down the road to Gedney's next time. read more

I thought this was pretty good!! I went here with my little cousin for my first ever dinner in Alabama. First of all coming from LA I was so pleasantly surprised with how CHEAP everything was! Seriously only 20 dollars or so for the both of us at a sit down restaurant, not fast food. Amazing. I got the BBQ plate and she got a chicken wrap. She really really enjoyed her chicken wrap and my BBQ plate was good. It was like chopped up pork and you put the sauce over it. Never had the style but it was pretty good. The BBQ sauce was really really good!!! It went well with the simple buttered piece of bread and fried okra. One small gripe is that I felt like the chopped pork came out kinda lukewarm, but it's okay. We came at the end of the day. That sauce more than made up for it. The sweet tea was really sweet but that's how it is down south. Half unsweet and half sweet was good for me. The waitresses were super friendly too. I would definitely return here next time I'm in Randolph County!!!! read more

John Boy's is a place I wouldn't go to , because as I'm getting in my vehicle I feel so disappointed 1. The place has a old cold feeling once you walk in they actually have weapons on the wall. It's saws on the wall , water pipes showing , paint peeling off the wall , and ceiling with cobwebs and all. 2. The waiter wrote my food down and it was correct on sheet but brings out something totally different, and I was missing sides also I asked for light ice I got plenty ice in my lemonade twice, and the food got seem like the cook took the marinated chicken off the sandwich I didn't order and served it on the plate , which I noticed right ahead because of lettuce and tomatoes still on the plate Also they serve the food on a very little plate. 3. As me my grandfather was eating we got the bill and the amount was nearly doubled Plenty more things but I'll keep it at a minimum read more

Doesn't look like much of a restaurant but the food is very good. Whenever I come down from Newnan, Georgia to visit my mom, I drop by here for the catfish dinner plate or the baby back rib plate. Just delicious I must admit. It's hard to get through on the phone to place an order after 4:30pm or the weekends, but that's the only drawback. read more

It was pretty good. Not many options in Roanoke, Alabama, or even Randolph County for that matter. Stopped here when passing through town on business (thanks Yelp). The menu was rather extensive, but I got a BBQ Sandwich (pork) and a bag of chips. I'm rather a traditionalist. Plus, you can judge a BBQ joint on their bbq sandwich. It wasn't bad, and I liked the different sauce options provided on the table. Everyone in the party seemed to like their meals. Fast and friendly service, generous drink and meal portions, great food and atmosphere. Definitely on my top 10 list. Jim had the chicken salad sandwich, which was excellent. I had BBQ sandwich with fries and drink for $5. Even though they only have dessert on weekdays, they gave me a piece Black Forest cake at no charge on Saturday afternoon. From out of town, came to visit my son and he said to eat here. Did NOT disappoint, I ate the grilled fish and fried shrimp with baked potato and camp stew. First I am not a big fish person, however this melted in my mouth great feast not fishy or what I call Mudd taste. The shrimp were crispy and good taste came with hush puppies cut onions, sliced lemon. Camp stew wonderful. All in all well worth it every penny! read more

Jon Boys is THE Best Restaurant in Roanoke, AL hands down. I live a mile outside of town and we eat out ALOT. This is my favorite out of all of the restaurants in town and I eat here at least twice a week. I have lived here my whole life and have eaten here a hundred times so I have made it a point to order a different thing every time I came here, and so in that process I have managed to order and eat every single thing that they have on their menu. Seriously, It's ALL delicious. I have NEVER had a bad experience here and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for delicious food served in generous portions with wonderful service. The waitresses are all so nice and make you feel like family the second you sit down. Oh and The sweet tea here is nothing short of amazing. I sometimes stop and go in just to get a tea.
