There's a BBQ restaurant like this in every small town across the South. So it's nothing unique but it's decent food at a fair price. The pork was chopped a little too much for my preference but still had a good smoke flavor. I had the hickory fried and enjoyed them. Wish it had more cheese and was shredded but they were still tasty. There were two options for BBQ sauce and both were good, though I preferred the mustard based sauce. All-in-all, I was not disappointed with my lunch and I'd eat there again.

Disgusting fish, tastes like you're drinking untreated lake water

Second time I've come for the steak, only to be told they were "out" (once is an accident; twice is intentional). So on this occasion I decided to get the fish and shrimp. The shrimp was good enough, but the single piece of fish was small, fried hard, and tasted strongly of lake water. I was able to scrape maybe 2 ounces of barely edible meat off the bone. The waitress who took our order disappeared, never came back for refills. Very disappointed this time, guess I'll just go down the road to Gedney's next time.

I thought this was pretty good!! I went here with my little cousin for my first ever dinner in Alabama. First of all coming from LA I was so pleasantly surprised with how CHEAP everything was! Seriously only 20 dollars or so for the both of us at a sit down restaurant, not fast food. Amazing. I got the BBQ plate and she got a chicken wrap. She really really enjoyed her chicken wrap and my BBQ plate was good. It was like chopped up pork and you put the sauce over it. Never had the style but it was pretty good. The BBQ sauce was really really good!!! It went well with the simple buttered piece of bread and fried okra. One small gripe is that I felt like the chopped pork came out kinda lukewarm, but it's okay. We came at the end of the day. That sauce more than made up for it. The sweet tea was really sweet but that's how it is down south. Half unsweet and half sweet was good for me. The waitresses were super friendly too. I would definitely return here next time I'm in Randolph County!!!!

My grandad felt bad about it and gave me a piece of his steak lol .... but the fries was good

John Boy's is a place I wouldn't go to , because as I'm getting in my vehicle I feel so disappointed 1. The place has a old cold feeling once you walk in they actually have weapons on the wall. It's saws on the wall , water pipes showing , paint peeling off the wall , and ceiling with cobwebs and all. 2. The waiter wrote my food down and it was correct on sheet but brings out something totally different, and I was missing sides also I asked for light ice I got plenty ice in my lemonade twice, and the food got seem like the cook took the marinated chicken off the sandwich I didn't order and served it on the plate , which I noticed right ahead because of lettuce and tomatoes still on the plate Also they serve the food on a very little plate. 3. As me my grandfather was eating we got the bill and the amount was nearly doubled Plenty more things but I'll keep it at a minimum

Really great Southern food in a friendly atmosphere with great prices. After a two week trip all around Florida, this home cooking joint was just what my husband and I needed. We both really enjoyed our meals and the service was great. No frills, just comfort food done right.

Took the family to a water park in LaGrange and was desperately seeking real food…read more Now I am from GA and love BBQ. I do a bit of my own as any true Georgian does. And my BBQ is pretty darn good. When it comes to eating out I have a rule that the place has to make something or do it in a way that is either cheaper than I can do or make better than I can make it. Hog Daddy's nails both of those points. My kids are quite picky eaters. They tend to gravitate to the typical 6-year-old habits of chicken strips and other fried foods. My girls were not pleased that I chose Hod Daddy's at first. Then they tried it and asked me to go back the next day and get more. The girls loved the pulled pork sandwich which they said "needed nothing else, it was so good." He even chopped up a 1/4 chicken leg for my twins that wanted chicken instead of port. That was not on the menu but he obliged as he saw I had my hands full with these picky girls. They loved the chicken sandwich! My wife and I got the Pulled Pork and Ribs platter. Between the two of us, we had Brunswick Stew, Potato Salad, and Baked Beans as sides. As you know, you can judge a place on it's stew. Hog Daddy did not disappoint. His Brunswick Stew was FIRST RATE. The pulled pork was top notch. Juicy and did not need sauce. The ribs were perfect. Fell off the bone and were also juicy and full of flavor. My wife and I were stuffed about half way through the platter. It was a TON of food at an amazing price. We stopped in the next day and picked up more food for the drive home. Stop in here if you are in the mood for BBQ you will love it. The kids will love it. This is some great BBQ. PS: I sampled the Chicken and Dumpling Soup. OMG if you have the opportunity to get some, do it.. you do not know what you are missing. I don't care if it is 95 degrees outside, this soup is worth it. Bummed I did not get a bowl while I was there.

I would definitely recommend a visit if you are in the area. You can tell the owner really takes pride in the food quality and provides very friendly service. A place you'd want to grab and go and don't forget to get some extra sauce (about $2), it's clearly made in house and very delicious depending on the style you might prefer. You will want some more of it. We tried the brisket, chicken, ribs, pulled pork, sausage, and some great sides especially the beans and potato salad (good spice flavor balance). My family all enjoyed making sandwiches from our various well smoked meats. One thing I would consider is a bit more heat, but I'm sure every area and individual has their own preferences. All around excellent value and deliciousness!

Short review: this is a must stop if you drive by…read more Time: We went on a Saturday afternoon in October 25. Outsize: For the road it looks like a clean BBQ joint with plenty of parking, a patio and easy to get to. Inside: once we got in the first thing we noticed was the friendly staff, like chick fil a standards friendly. Anyways, the restaurant has plenty of seating with 4 person tables that can support large groups easily. Very family friendly and the patio has a dog water bowl! Paper menu with ice cream flavors on the window. Staff event opened an extra register to help with the crowd size. Food: this is where they shine even brighter. The staff answered questions, asked about food allergies, and where helpful. I got the sampler platers (best way to see what is good) and was I surprised! The smoked wings might be the best thing there. Really these are amazing and I don't really eat wings. The brisket was my favorite, so much smoke flavor, tender with a nice smoke ring and so flavorful. The ribs were perfect, competition style with great bark, and fantastic pull, with a sprinkle of brown sugar on top to serenade your taste buds. Finally the bbq pork was delicious, sadly outshined by the others but it was good enough you don't need sauce for it. Speaking of sauces, original sauce was tomato with a tiny bit of sweet, the spicy was same just a bit of heat added, and the Carolina was the big winner here, tangy and sweet, had to grab a bottle on the way out. I'll end by saying m THIS is what a restaurant was before 2020; a place you what to keep coming back to, clean with friendly staff (they refilled out glasses 5 times with a smile EVERY time), and food you can't easily make at home (It's like most restaurants just cook from cans and bags these days) or buy at Kroger. Do stop here if you're in the area, we will be returning here even though it's a 45 min drive one way.
