My husband and I satisfied our craving for BBQ with the help of Roger's BBQ when we were in LaGrange. This is definitely what a down-home BBQ joint is supposed to be. Our server was friendly and welcoming as soon as we walked in the door. She was patient, and just really good. The sweet tea almost made me cry it was so good. Since we no longer live in Georgia the sweet tea was like a welcome home in a cup. My husband said the same thing. We both ordered the BBQ Sampler, and I added a fried catfish fillet to my order to satisfy my Southern ancestors. The three meats all had good, different flavors. I don't want my meats to all taste the same. There was a slight mix up with my sides, when my tray came out. I had ordered fried okra, and baked beans, which the server quickly took care of. The fried catfish fillet was a great, a good size, with a cornmeal crust, yum! My taste buds were so happy. Roger's doesn't need to change anything in my opinion. Fried pickles and fried okra were great. My husband got the AYCE ribs that are advertised as a Tuesday night special. The ribs were okay, oven baked and not smoked which isn't really what I'd consider BBQ. Not once after bringing our food did the waitress come check on us. It was fairly busy but for over twenty minutes we were ignored. When she finally come back it was just to bring us a check. We were charged for the AYCE ribs even though he was never able to get a second order. By the time she brought the check we were over it and ready to leave. read more

I'm accustomed to Memphis Bbq. So I prefer my bbq a little sweeter. As well as the slaw. Brunswick Stew was delicious! The baked beans had ground beef in the which I wasn't expecting. Would have preferred my bun be warm or better yet buttered and toasted. I may opt for the bbq pulled pork plate next time and requests a little bbq sauce on the side. Atmosphere was quaint and clean but it is an older establishment so a little worn looking. Staying at Great Wolf and didn't want to dine there. My Daughter found this when searching for options. It's not pretty, but the food was good. My dish was BBQ chicken plate. Probably best dish to order if you like BBQ. Wife ordered catfish. She said it was delicious. Daughter and Son in law ordered sandwiches, and both were pleased with their choices. Service was impressive. Our server was a middle aged woman, and was really good. The sides were mediocre except the coke slaw. I probably could have eaten a bucket of that. Went on Tuesday at 6:30. Usually go on Friday s when we go. We had company from out of town & wanted to treat them to a catfish dinner. Server came & we ordered drinks & went ahead & ordered food. The corn bread was dry and the lime beans overcooked and he didn't like the Mac 'n' cheese because it too was dry but the side salad was fresh and the homemade hushpuppies were big and tasty, even without any real butter. What an unexpected, but very pleasant surprise to have run into this homely lil restaurant and have the best fried catfish and hush puppies I've ever eaten! My husband, sister & I all enjoyed our meals and the delicious homemade brownies that we indulged in upon arriving back @ our hotel. I love this place! Everything I get is great. Ribs and fried catfish are what my family orders. If you order early enough they have juicy burnt ends! The sides are fresh and delicious the coleslaw and baked beans are my go-to! The drinks are great the tea is strong and the lemonade is tart. I want to try the Brunswick stew my husband doesn't eat pork that's the only hold up. The only drawback is the time they close... if y'all can at least stay open til 10pm maybe even midnight on the weekends would make my heart smile. read more

Okay... I know... barbecue has so many different variations and as many opinions about what tastes best. Yolanda, our hotel manager, steered us to Rogers Bar-b-que and away from some other closer options and we were glad she did. The sampler plate revealed they can do all three types (ribs, chicken and chopped pork) with 2 different secret sauces. One was sweet, the other a mustard base. Fantastic! Not giving any stars, I normally love this place but today it was horrible. If this had been my first time, I would never come back. We put in our order, 20 minutes later the server informs us our burger cannot be cooked as requested. We informed her the menu says prepared any way you want. Cook agreed to make the burger rare once we said we wanted the check for the drinks and onion rings we had already consumed. Stopped here on my 1400 mile MC trip. Off street parking and had a drive through also. Nice little local restaurant with a typical country décor with wooden tables and chairs... very country., They did not have beer (-1) but food was good. I'm extremely impressed by the food here. I love mom and pop whole in the wall restaurants. This place gives you that feel. Home made grandma passed down many generations type food. I just happened to run across this place and I'm glad I stopped by for lunch. Their specialties are bbq and fried catfish but they also have a daily lunch special with a good price. I really wanted grilled filleted catfish and they fixed that for me. It was delicious and I got the large sweet tea. They include a choice of fries or other side and hush puppies and automatically include sliced onion and captains crackers, lemon and sliced pickles. Very good service. Took our AAU basketball team there for dinner after a big win at LaGrange HS 3 blocks away - and they were very accommodating with our no-notice, noisy filling up of the back half of there dining area. After reading the reviews, we figured we stop here for some authentic bbq. The food was good, but the portions were smaller than expected- especially the sides. The service was outstanding! Amy went out of her way to make sure we had an enjoyable experience. She graciously allowed us to sample the cole slaw and the delicious stew they are famous for. My hubby and daughter got the catfish and he said it tasted good. My son got the fried chicken and the batter was well-seasoned. I got the 1/2 chicken which was somewhat bland, but the "special bbq sauce" tasted good. The ambiance was casual and quiet. Overall, it was a nice dinner out with the family. Place was recommended by an assistant at Great Wolf Lodge while staying here. It wasn't nothing wow or worth writing home to! Order the catfish sandwich and it had no toppings or spread, just PLAIN FRIED CATFISH, plus the bread tasted stale. The cheeseburger tasted like any cheeseburger with the same stale bread. Rib sandwich which I didn't know served with bone on still, could have broke a teeth of mine if I bit harder also served on same stale bread! The only thing good was the the ribs and the coleslaw was ok and the potato salad was eh if you're really into mustard flavors.
