I finally had the opportunity to stop here for lunch today after seeing announcements that they were reopening. This establishment is a small brick and mortar building with takeout as the only option. I believe their primary business model is catering. I was informed before ordering that they added a couple new items to the menu and was shown the new menu. I already knew that I wanted to order, the Smoky Cuban Sandwich, but I also added a Wagyu Beef and Cheese Empanada, which they identify the source that I do not recall at this time. I was told the empanada would melt in my mouth...it did. On their menu you will find pork that is Maria smoked and pork that is Jon smoked and I had to ask the question what the difference was. I spoke to Maria and she said that Jon has a more traditional smoked pulled pork then asked me if I knew what "Pernil" was, which I was, and said she prepares her pork in the same method but smokes it instead of roasting it. A few customers who had preordered showed up and were given their food while I waited. I eventually received my food and looked forward to returning to my office to eat. I started with the empanada. It was flaky but the filling was savory and flavorful. I wish they would've included a side sauce with it but they didn't. The Smoky Cuban Sandwich was good and definitely indicated that the Pernil was placed in a smoker and tasted good. My only criticism about this sandwich is it's size and price compared to other local bodegas who offer the same sandwich at a lower price point but I will also attribute this sandwich's cost to the addition of the time it takes to produce this from the smoking process. While my initial observation felt underwhelmed, I was not disappointed ultimately. It was a great sandwich. I will return, based on their limited schedule, to try some other items. Buen Provecho! read more
