You should have zero expectations and not compare the food to whatever original dish it is trying to emulate because you will disappoint yourself. It will not likely taste like the classic dish, but it should still be delicious. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak sandwich. Did it taste like a cheesesteak? No. Was it damn delicious? YES! They also have smoothies, desserts, and what kind of looks like Jamaican beef patties, but of course, no beef, but lots of variety of fillings. I want to come back to try the curried chickpea. Beautiful restaurant with amazing decor. There's a lot of street parking as well as a parking lot just up the block. Several tables to dine in. There's also a nice park across the street. I got there in the evening, so there weren't many options, but what I did get was pretty good. Kale, a pasta dish. ginger vegan chicken and rice. I also bought a mango moss drink and a lentil patty. The next time I'm in the area, I want to get there early because they typically have several options available. They also have all natural health and beauty items. I have been enjoying Jolo's food for many years, including at their previous location. The owner was always warm and friendly to my family and food is healthy, delicious and flavorful. However I was disappointed that the new location no longer has table service. It's really a takeout place now. Confused we sat down and nobody offered to help us. Our food was served in take out plastic trays and with plastic cutlery. The salad we ordered was forgotten and never received. So let me start by saying; THIS GEM IS SO HIDDEN I WISH I CAME SOONER!!! It was my First time here and I was brought there by a good friend of mine. I chose the pick 4 and got the curry "chicken", ginger"chicken " , kale and some dish with mushrooms and I think spinach cAnt remember. Now, I am more or less a pescatarian(mainly eat fish) and I do eat certain foods that are meat based(working on it but Covid made me stick to meat) . Anyway I got those along with the chicken(not sure if it's actual chicken or not but dammit it was delicious! ) chicken and hummus wrap it has hummus, breaded chicken, cucumbers and some lettuce or something. The guy there was so sweet and made me feel right at home. He welcomed us and was just the sweetest man ever while I took my time trying to figure out what I wanted. Needless to say I'm glad I made the choices I did and glad I came! The food was so fresh and you can taste the reAl ingredients not that over processed shyt, the place was super clean, they wore masks and provided hand sanitizer. He carefully explained the juices they served and the dishes they had available. Again; I AM NOT VEGAN!!! And I still enjoyed the food very much! I brought some home and let me say my daughter loved it all! My husband enjoyed the wrap and my picky son even liked the ginger "chicken" even though he hates veggies. A family run business, met Jolo's son on a return visit and this fabulous boricua/Haitian mix was charming, informative and incredible server. I felt like I was an unexpected dinner guest. Being of a similar background, that Caribbean love for people and food was apparent. This is NOT a place to miss! I found it searching for a vegan restaurant when family was visiting from out of town (drove them from Manhattan to this gem) and then had to be a repeat spender after my Westchester meetings.
