Today is my actual second visit to Jollibee this time I was not their guest but their customer. As soon as I entered the restaurant Nostalgia sets in. Although I look as white bread as most other Americans, Im come from a cultural minority. That had it has its own dietary laws and dinning customs sitting in dining area waiting for my order at Joliebee today reminded me of some kosher chicken restaurants that opened up in New York City when I was a boy. You can see the pride in the faces of both the customers and the staff they have something that's their own now. Although it's really just fried chicken joint and some sweet spaghetti and one classic Filipino noodle dish thrown in it's made and operated with a Filipino sensibility. it's not McDonald's it's not Kentucky fried chicken. It,s theirs and there's a certain sense of pride in that. You see Young moms is waiting for their children's lunch orders and aunties and grandma's bringing their grandchildren to eat. You see contractors stop in there for lunch and a few Caucasian guys like me checking it out. At the end of the day this is fast food -good fast food-but fast food nevertheless. The french fries are not remarkable, the Chicken sandwich is much better than average. The pineapple drink reminds me of pineapple juice that used to have with my lunches as a boy. The service was friendly the place was packed and they were smart enough to change their plastic bags to paper bags. I'll be coming back here from time to time and I'm sure our large Filipino community will be here regularly proud that they have something they can call their own. Hopefully they won't forget the few mom and pop Filipino kitchens we have on maui. read more

Got there around 6:00, grabbed our number & joined the not too long of a line. I wanna say we waited around 20 minutes before being let in. They are very well organized as your order is taken while in line, so once you get to the counter you just hand them your paper. It seems as though most people were taking it to go, so there were seats available. Myself & 3 other family members got the Bucket Treat B, 6 piece bucket, adobo fried rice & the pineapple quenchers. We didn't wait too long. The chicken was a favorite, cooked perfectly, tasty skin nice & crisp. Gravy with it was not bad, but I'm not a huge gravy fan. Spaghetti was okay, better then I thought, but think I'll stick to the regular Italian style. The sausage inside was interesting, it really had no flavor. Quencher was refreshing, wish it was a little more tart. Fried rice wasn't too bad. Tiny bit of spice, but I've had better. Pie was yummy, outer shell was crisp & the mango wasn't overpowering the peach which was nice. That was a lot of food that probably could've fed 2 more people. My one thing though is that if you decide to eat there with the family style items, there's really no plate to eat on. We ate off of the chicken covers & napkins which we saw other people do as well. Even one week after a festive 5,000 guest opening day, there are lines out the door...in the pouring rain...at 4pm. Opening staff of 120 uniformed employees in orange and grey, manage and train others, prepare the food, sweep floors, and take orders at the door. All hands on deck feverishly pump-out orders like bailing water from an upturned outrigger, or building an Amish barn. Curiously, burgers and a few other items are not on the overhead menu. The seating/waiting areas are streamlined and clean. Bright, large picture windows and good lighting as you chew chicken bones and lick your fingers, after tasting that delicious fried chicken. Burgers decent, pasta and noodles different. Gravy savory. Decadent Peach pie is similar to MCD's Apple Pie but somehow buttery. As Maui's newest franchise, maybe it's worth the weight. read more

We placed an order online for pickup for two buckets of chicken. I reach there and the doors are all locked. Online ordering said "pickup". Exactly what I thought, go there enter the building and pickup my order, correct? NO! It's not like that. I reach there and the signs are posted all over "if you are picking up a order please use our drive thru". Wow! Okay so I had to now enter the drive thru and get in line with everyone who was placing their order and wait till their order gets ready while my order was ALREADY ready!! Terrible. I was excited to try it because I always hear my Filipino friends rave about it (the Honolulu one) but to be honest- this fried chicken just tasted like normal fried chicken, nothing special. Where to go for a late Sunday dinner on Maui? That's a tough question since most restaurants close by 7 or 8 pm nowadays. Jolliebee is open until 10pm Sundays so that's where we headed. It's located in the Maui Marketplace shopping center. There wasn't a line at the drive through so we got our order quickly. We tried the 3 piece Cjoy with mashed potatoes, gravy and pineapple quencher. We also got the 2 piece burgersteak with mashed potatoes and pineapple quencher. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It comes with an extra container of gravy for dipping. The burgersteak was kind of small. If you're hungry I would get the 3 piece and 2 mashed potatoes. The pineapple quencher drink is refreshing and not too sweet. The peach mango pies would have taken an extra 10 minutes so we didn't order them this time. But we've had them before and they are really good! This rating is due to the speed of service. Never order a meal from inside this restaurant. I ordered a 10 piece meal and only had two customers ahead of inside the store. It took over twenty minutes (from the time of the receipt print out) until our number was buzzed with the order ready. The staff prioritized cars in the drive thru so they got their meals much quicker even if they were given a number and the meal had to be delivered outside. I saw around a dozen cars come and go until they got to my order of 10 regular pieces of chicken and three sides (fries, mash potatoes, and rice). There were plenty of original chicken on the racks. After fifteen minutes, it would have just been faster cancel the order and then to go through the drive thru. Lesson learned. read more

My daughter won't eat it so we threw out a couple sandwiches in the last week. Jollibee has always been a favorite for our family, so we're glad when it came to Maui several months ago. Luckily, the Jollibee that you're get at this Maui location is pretty much consistent with the Jollibee you can get elsewhere! For me, it's all about the Palabok with Fried Chicken--definitely a step a from many of the other fast food chicken joints you could go to. On the downside, we wished they offered larger drink sizes other than their standard 22oz side. We also think that, even though they are pretty amazing, the Peach Mango Pies are a little pricey considering you can get similar pies (but different flavors) from McD for about twice as much. read more

Didn't quite understand the hype because I tried this place in Oahu and wasn't impressed. Supposedly known for their fried chicken, Chicken Joy, as they call it. And their Cheeseburger. I recall having the spaghetti to cure my craving and enjoyed the convenience of getting spaghetti at a drive-thru! It was just ok. So, seeing my Jollibee was opening on Maui, I wasn't hyped like everyone else seemed to be and waited, just so they could take the bugs out and the crowd cooled down. Went there on a Sunday and believe it or not, the wait was only about 10 minutes, from waiting in line to getting my food. And damn! Chicken Joy, hellooo! Yum yum! Crispy outside, moist inside and not too greasy unlike the KFC down the road! And the taste was pretty darn good as well! And the Cheeseburger! I think it was $3.29 for the burger only, pricey, but good! Same size as McDonalds cheeseburger but way better. Oh, and the mango peach pie! Yummers! Been there 3 times since they opened and plan to go again soon! Very nice inside with several eating booths, window counters and outside seating also. The crew there is quick and professional and the food comes out hot and fresh! Drive-thru on Maui hasn't opened yet, but I parked my car there so I'd be first in line when they do! We decided to brave the crowd and got up EXTRA early on a Sunday to get in line an hour and a half before the store opened. Glad we did. The time went fast everyone was so excited there even was a DJ and best of all first 100 costumers got a Jollibee Mascot Doll. Since I'm a 8 year old trapped in this body I was THRILLED!!! There is not a lot seating inside but its very nice. The staff was wonderful and everyone was really excited! We decided to order a 6 piece Chickenjoy Bucket, Chicken Sandwich, Jolly Spaghetti, Peach Mango Pie and Pineapple Quencher. The Chicken was crispy and moist. The Chicken Sandwich was OK nothing too special. I liked the Spaghetti it was good but it is a little sweet. I really am a fan of sweet so I really liked it. The Peach Mango Pie is GREAT !!!!! I just loved it. Very close to a McDonald's pie but MUCH more flavor!!!!! The Pineapple Quencher is GREAT!!!! I would order that again and again. I have to say the food has gotten much better since they opened. I have eaten here multiple times from when they opened thru today. The food has much better taste and they now have the full menu. Keep in mind this is not fine dining but for fast food it's not bad and adds a twist to your ordinary fast food places. Especially here on Maui where our choices are severely limited. So it is very nice that they have improved food quality and I wanna say service has improved but that is to be expected. These folks are doing a great job even with limited staffing. I was kinda on the fence before but now I'm definitely a believer. I will be back again. This morning I had a cheese burger with fries and a soda. I enjoyed the cheese burger it had a different type of sauce that gave it a nice flavor. The bun was nice and soft and the fries were done perfectly. It was perfect for a nice pre lunch snack. Everyone that knows Jollibees knows it's a novelty for Filipinos anywhere when one comes to a new community. That's why as of 1/31/2020 (one week from opening day) there's still a line out their door 30-45 minutes deep. For those that don't know Jollibees... this is NOT filipino food per se (with a few exceptions), it is filipino FAST food. Sweet spaghetti, fried chicken, and yumburgers are the standouts/best sellers here. There's more for sure but start with those if you're still cutting your teeth with this culture. Here comes my actual review. There is no shade being cast here. I want this place to succeed. But there is reason for 4 stars instead of the 5. The Good: The food hits the spot. It's not healthy by any means. I'm guilty of craving a YumBurger or some super crispy fried chicken every once in a while, and my last 2 visits have both been satisfying. I also enjoyed their Fried chicken Sandwich which I was not planning to order on my first visit to this location. The Bad: Service wise they are very efficient and friendly, but on both visits they were out of or not serving something I wanted. One of my biggest issues: Just yesterday the burger I got was not hot. Not cold either but close to it. To summarize, Fried chicken and gravy: Hot. Burger: Not. I guess it takes a pandemic for the lines to lessen. Finally had a chance to utilize the gift card that I received. Drive-through was our only option as there is no dining in allowed while we are under Stay At Hone orders. The drive-through was not very busy, thank goodness. I really enjoy the fried chicken here. The problem is they rip you off. The chicken is expensive enough (10 piece drumstick/thigh mix for $30), and they rip you off on top of that. I recently purchased a 10 piece box to find out that every piece of the thigh pieces were cut in half. Not only that, the halves that I got all had the back/pelvis bone attached to it. Essentially it looks like a bigger piece of fried chicken, but it's half bone and not meat. The piece of the thigh bone that was in the chicken was only about an inch long. I've never experienced this with any other chicken places I've been to. I can't spend my hard earned money here anymore. Better to go spend money for local plate lunch. read more

This is only based on a first time visit. We had chicken sandwiches (add lettuce and tomato), fries, and their version of a Sprite. I am not sure why, but I didn't like their chicken sandwich. Too much odd flavored mayonnaise for my taste, and it just didn't sit well on my palette or in my stomach. The fries were standard, and I gobbled those up. The off brand Sprite was odd too. Last time I was here Family meal was $29. Swung by today, price has jumped to $39. I understand there's inflation, and I certainly can afford it, but won't be coming here much anymore due to value. I had my normal coffee that I drink 20 years and the only other food I ate was Jollibee at this place. I couldn't eat anything else that whole day. This on Christmas Day and now 5 days later I am still recovering from the symptoms. I like Jollibee and ate at many of the place on Oahu and various locations in SoCal California. I don't usually eat "fast food" but I'll make an exception when it comes to fried chicken. I like real chicken, not nuggets or tenders but chicken on the bone because it just tastes better. I'm not a fan of KFC so I've been in a bit of a fried chicken drought since moving to Maui. I've heard about Jollibee for a while but never had an opportunity to try it on my travels. Jollibee just opened here on Maui providing fried chicken fans with deliciously crispy juicy fried chicken. Filipinos like their fried chicken served with gravy. I think they're onto something! The gravy was full flavored and not overly thick or salty, it was the perfect accompaniment for the simply seasoned chicken. A side of adobo rice provides a nice bed to catch any dripping gravy and is tasty on it's own. Be sure to order a little extra as it is delicious the next day with a sprinkle of salt and pepper. The pineapple quencher was the perfect beverage to cut the richness of the chicken . I will probably visit Jollibee just to pick one up at the end of my town run before heading up the hill. If it's been a rough day I may also pick up a peach mango pie , a deep fried hand pie with a super flakey crust and sweet peach and mango filling. What a treat. I am also grateful that Jollibee has plenty of clean seating options,both indoors and out. Living so far away from town I rarely get takeaway unless I am planning on eating in my car. It just doesn't taste the same after a 40 min drive , so I'm always on the lookout for dine in places and Jollibee has plenty of seating , sothing that is really lacking in Kahului. I just wanna say, I am impressed by the efficiency of the Jollibee crew that handles the MASSES of people during opening week! Went for superbowl Sunday, barely waited ten minutes, in line and to pick up food. Staff were calm, cheery and efficient, no sense of opening week chaos what so ever. Picked up food for a superbowl party and everyone was so glad they could try it without waiting in line..... No matter how much I told them that the line really isn't that bad.
