FOOD: Yumburger - $5.99 (combo + cheese) For reference, it's about the size of a McD's cheeseburger. The patty was soft and seasoned well with a strong oniony flavor but borderline salty. The burger's sauce spread tasted and looked like thousand island dressing-based which gave it some sweet notes. I opted for fries as my side as they go together like yin and yang! Unfortunately everything was cold. Not even the cheese was fully melted. I was eating at home but didn't feel like zapping the burger and toasting the fries as I was hangry! Burger Steak - $8.79 (combo) Two of the same tender, oniony-flavored patties from the burger were lathered in a thin and creamy mushroom gravy (not the same gravy that comes with the Chickenjoy for dipping). For my side I got mashed potatoes with gravy. Hawaii hamburger steak fans will be just okay with this version as the small frozen patties can't compare to the larger, fresh variety. The mashed potatoes were good but mainstream like all other fast food joints. SERVICE: I arrived around 8pm on a weeknight to an outside line of just five people ahead of me. I was given a menu and placed my order with the same person about a minute later. Got inside within five minutes, paid, and left with food in hand about ten minutes later. Ok I've been twice and it's been great both times. That crispy chicken really is juicy and hot and oh so yummy! Things I like: Prompt service; buzzer to tell you when your order is ready; they won't take tips; minimal plastic packaging; the great food or course! Maui finally has it's first Jollibee's and we are all going mad especially us Filipinos! lol! After getting a sneak peek on the day of their grand opening, I could not wait to go back and I've eaten at Jollibee's before but still! haha LOCATION: Located in the old Bank of Hawaii building across from Jamba juice and Starbucks in Maui Marketplace. You can't miss it or have a hard time finding it because it has been very busy since it opened this past Friday. ATMOSPHERE: The dining room is not very big but it is very clean with cute booths and various seating options. They also have outdoor seating which is awesome. SERVICE: Service was fantastic. Everything is well marked. When you arrive, there are gates with a sign that says "enter here," then a friendly employee asks "have you been here before?" If you haven't, they give you a brief overview of Jollibees. If you have, they say "great!" and they hand you a number and a menu and direct you to enter the line to wait. While you wait, a couple of employees take your order beforehand. I love their system especially since they are still brand new here on Maui. After driving by yesterday after work and seeing the line super long like it has been, I decided to take an early lunch today and chance 'um lol. I got there shortly after 10:00 am and the wait was not very long at all YAY! Thank you Jesus & praise the Lord lol. I waited about 10-15 minutes and then I got the go ahead to enter. Yay again! FOOD: Today I ordered 2 buckets of their 6 piece chicken, a Jolly spaghetti combo with a pepsi, a pineapple quencher, adobo rice and mashed potatoes. They are very well know for their chicken called chickenjoy. Their chicken truly brings you joy hence the name :) My boss who has never tried their chicken until today said she loves it more than KFC's chicken. That statement did not surprise me. Their chicken has a different flavor and is perfectly seasoned. The skin is so crispy and the meat is so moist. You must try their chicken if you come to Jollibee's. It is my favorite. Their jolly spaghetti is delicious. I'm a bad part Filipino who doesn't care for sweet spaghetti lol but Jollibee's isn't as sweet as I've had before at family/friend's parties and at Jollibee's on Oahu. Maui's Jolly spaghetti does not taste super sweet. It is just right. So 'ono. Try it. The sides that I ordered included mashed potatoes and adobo rice. Both were delicious. Both were perfectly seasoned and still hot when I brought them back to the office. Yum! Their pineapple quencher is very refreshing and delicious as well. I highly recommend trying it. My only NEGATIVE for today's experience was that THEY DID NOT HAVE PEACH MANGO PIE. I almost cried haha. My coworkers were so sad when they heard the horrible news. Their peach mango pie is so crispy, flaky and sweet and is packaged like McDonald's pies that I love to indulge in on occasion. They apologized for not having it this morning and said they would have it in the afternoon. Almost a month after their grand opening this new restaurant is still packing them in. Consequently, the drive thru is still used for overflow waiting during busy hours. There is ample parking because Maui Marketplace has yet to find a replacement tenant for Lowe's. Chickenjoy and the spicy chicken sandwich are my favorites. My wife and daughter really like the spaghetti and palabok. Unfortunately, they don't have the full menu as some other locations, which serve halo halo and other items. Today is my actual second visit to Jollibee this time I was not their guest but their customer. As soon as I entered the restaurant Nostalgia sets in. Although I look as white bread as most other Americans, Im come from a cultural minority. That had it has its own dietary laws and dinning customs sitting in dining area waiting for my order at Joliebee today reminded me of some kosher chicken restaurants that opened up in New York City when I was a boy. You can see the pride in the faces of both the customers and the staff they have something that's their own now. Although it's really just fried chicken joint and some sweet spaghetti and one classic Filipino noodle dish thrown in it's made and operated with a Filipino sensibility. it's not McDonald's it's not Kentucky fried chicken. It,s theirs and there's a certain sense of pride in that. You see Young moms is waiting for their children's lunch orders and aunties and grandma's bringing their grandchildren to eat. You see contractors stop in there for lunch and a few Caucasian guys like me checking it out. At the end of the day this is fast food -good fast food-but fast food nevertheless. The french fries are not remarkable, the Chicken sandwich is much better than average. The pineapple drink reminds me of pineapple juice that used to have with my lunches as a boy. The service was friendly the place was packed and they were smart enough to change their plastic bags to paper bags. I'll be coming back here from time to time and I'm sure our large Filipino community will be here regularly proud that they have something they can call their own. Got there around 6:00, grabbed our number & joined the not too long of a line. I wanna say we waited around 20 minutes before being let in. They are very well organized as your order is taken while in line, so once you get to the counter you just hand them your paper. It seems as though most people were taking it to go, so there were seats available. Myself & 3 other family members got the Bucket Treat B, 6 piece bucket, adobo fried rice & the pineapple quenchers. We didn't wait too long. The chicken was a favorite, cooked perfectly, tasty skin nice & crisp. Gravy with it was not bad, but I'm not a huge gravy fan. Spaghetti was okay, better then I thought, but think I'll stick to the regular Italian style. The sausage inside was interesting, it really had no flavor. Quencher was refreshing, wish it was a little more tart. Fried rice wasn't too bad. Tiny bit of spice, but I've had better. Pie was yummy, outer shell was crisp & the mango wasn't overpowering the peach which was nice. That was a lot of food that probably could've fed 2 more people. My one thing though is that if you decide to eat there with the family style items, there's really no plate to eat on. We ate off of the chicken covers & napkins which we saw other people do as well. All hands on deck feverishly pump-out orders like bailing water from an upturned outrigger, or building an Amish barn. Curiously, burgers and a few other items are not on the overhead menu. The seating/waiting areas are streamlined and clean. Bright, large picture windows and good lighting as you chew chicken bones and lick your fingers, after tasting that delicious fried chicken. Burgers decent, pasta and noodles different. Gravy savory. Decadent Peach pie is similar to MCD's Apple Pie but somehow buttery. As Maui's newest franchise, maybe it's worth the weight. read more

We placed an order online for pickup for two buckets of chicken. I reach there and the doors are all locked. Online ordering said "pickup". Exactly what I thought, go there enter the building and pickup my order, correct? NO! It's not like that. Where to go for a late Sunday dinner on Maui? That's a tough question since most restaurants close by 7 or 8 pm nowadays. Jolliebee is open until 10pm Sundays so that's where we headed. It's located in the Maui Marketplace shopping center. There wasn't a line at the drive through so we got our order quickly. We tried the 3 piece Cjoy with mashed potatoes, gravy and pineapple quencher. We also got the 2 piece burgersteak with mashed potatoes and pineapple quencher. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. It comes with an extra container of gravy for dipping. The burgersteak was kind of small. If you're hungry I would get the 3 piece and 2 mashed potatoes. The pineapple quencher drink is refreshing and not too sweet. The peach mango pies would have taken an extra 10 minutes so we didn't order them this time. But we've had them before and they are really good! This rating is due to the speed of service. Never order a meal from inside this restaurant. I ordered a 10 piece meal and only had two customers ahead of inside the store. It took over twenty minutes (from the time of the receipt print out) until our number was buzzed with the order ready. The staff prioritized cars in the drive thru so they got their meals much quicker even if they were given a number and the meal had to be delivered outside. I saw around a dozen cars come and go until they got to my order of 10 regular pieces of chicken and three sides (fries, mash potatoes, and rice). There were plenty of original chicken on the racks. After fifteen minutes, it would have just been faster cancel the order and then to go through the drive thru. Lesson learned. read more

Luckily, the Jollibee that you're get at this Maui location is pretty much consistent with the Jollibee you can get elsewhere! For me, it's all about the Palabok with Fried Chicken--definitely a step a from many of the other fast food chicken joints you could go to. On the downside, we wished they offered larger drink sizes other than their standard 22oz side. Didn't quite understand the hype because I tried this place in Oahu and wasn't impressed. Supposedly known for their fried chicken, Chicken Joy, as they call it. And their Cheeseburger. So, seeing my Jollibee was opening on Maui, I wasn't hyped like everyone else seemed to be and waited, just so they could take the bugs out and the crowd cooled down. Went there on a Sunday and believe it or not, the wait was only about 10 minutes, from waiting in line to getting my food. And damn! Chicken Joy, hellooo! Yum yum! Crispy outside, moist inside and not too greasy unlike the KFC down the road! And the taste was pretty darn good as well! And the Cheeseburger! I think it was $3.29 for the burger only, pricey, but good! Same size as McDonalds cheeseburger but way better. Oh, and the mango peach pie! Yummers! Been there 3 times since they opened and plan to go again soon! Very nice inside with several eating booths, window counters and outside seating also. We decided to brave the crowd and got up EXTRA early on a Sunday to get in line an hour and a half before the store opened. Glad we did. The time went fast everyone was so excited there even was a DJ and best of all first 100 costumers got a Jollibee Mascot Doll. Since I'm a 8 year old trapped in this body I was THRILLED!!! There is not a lot seating inside but its very nice. The staff was wonderful and everyone was really excited! We decided to order a 6 piece Chickenjoy Bucket, Chicken Sandwich, Jolly Spaghetti, Peach Mango Pie and Pineapple Quencher. The Chicken was crispy and moist. I have to say the food has gotten much better since they opened. I have eaten here multiple times from when they opened thru today. The food has much better taste and they now have the full menu. Keep in mind this is not fine dining but for fast food it's not bad and adds a twist to your ordinary fast food places. Especially here on Maui where our choices are severely limited. So it is very nice that they have improved food quality and I wanna say service has improved but that is to be expected. These folks are doing a great job even with limited staffing. I was kinda on the fence before but now I'm definitely a believer. I will be back again. This morning I had a cheese burger with fries and a soda. Everyone that knows Jollibees knows it's a novelty for Filipinos anywhere when one comes to a new community. That's why as of 1/31/2020 (one week from opening day) there's still a line out their door 30-45 minutes deep. For those that don't know Jollibees... this is NOT filipino food per se (with a few exceptions), it is filipino FAST food. Sweet spaghetti, fried chicken, and yumburgers are the standouts/best sellers here. There's more for sure but start with those if you're still cutting your teeth with this culture. Here comes my actual review. There is no shade being cast here. I want this place to succeed. But there is reason for 4 stars instead of the 5. The Good: The food hits the spot. It's not healthy by any means. I'm guilty of craving a YumBurger or some super crispy fried chicken every once in a while, and my last 2 visits have both been satisfying. I also enjoyed their Fried chicken Sandwich which I was not planning to order on my first visit to this location. The Bad: Service wise they are very efficient and friendly, but on both visits they were out of or not serving something I wanted. This is only based on a first time visit. We had chicken sandwiches (add lettuce and tomato), fries, and their version of a Sprite. I am not sure why, but I didn't like their chicken sandwich. Too much odd flavored mayonnaise for my taste, and it just didn't sit well on my palette or in my stomach. The fries were standard, and I gobbled those up. The off brand Sprite was odd too. I really enjoy the fried chicken here. The problem is they rip you off. The chicken is expensive enough (10 piece drumstick/thigh mix for $30), and they rip you off on top of that. I recently purchased a 10 piece box to find out that every piece of the thigh pieces were cut in half. Not only that, the halves that I got all had the back/pelvis bone attached to it. Essentially it looks like a bigger piece of fried chicken, but it's half bone and not meat. The piece of the thigh bone that was in the chicken was only about an inch long.
