Cheese Sticks
Abbi R.

Based off of previous reviews, I was super excited to try this place. I ordered a large pizza with ham, bacon and pineapple, as well as an order of the cheese sticks. When we opened the boxes, the first thing I noticed is that there was no sauce for the cheese sticks. Typically, that's the best part for me. We used our own ranch dressing to dip them. The pizza also looked great, but the taste was not impressive. It didn't have much sauce on it, in fact, I couldn't really even taste it. The crust was a bit too hard to eat in spots. On the good side, the staff was VERY nice!! The location was clean, and smelled amazing, and their prices are decent. I'm on the fence whether I will try other items on the menu.

Beef Cremeoso Sub, Pepperoni & Mushroom Pizza and Cheesy Garlic Bread.

The deep dish here is out of this world! Great authentic food. Much better than the chain pizza places nearby.

So this time, walked to good ol' Buddy's. Soooo good! The pizza here is absolutely delicious. I can't get enough of their sauce. I got both a four corner, and round, and both were outstanding! Our waiter Anderson rocked it, as well, kept our water cups full and checked on us often. Thanks Anderson. So Buddy's is also in Detroit, which I went to, after a recent Redwing's game, and let me tell you, the GR Buddy's is way better. They both rock, but the GR sauce is the boss, and so much more. I'll be back for sure. If you need the goods, and pizza is your thing, go to Buddy's!

Parking is easy, and convenient. They have ton of pizza, styles, flavors, and crusts. We settled on the "Build your own" pizza. We chose the Detroit style, four piece, with original crust. It was the perfect choice for our eating wants and needs. We added pepperonis onions, mushrooms and black olives. Service was slow, but the friendly waitress made it more enjoyable. Overall, the pizza was OK. It was a little burnt, and hard to cut. The taste was pleasing. I must admit that my favorite is Chicago deep dish pizza, sorry Detroit fans. But i feel that it is one of the better pizza places in GR. If your not a pizza fan, they have several other option; burgers, salads, and sandwiches. Check it out.

The concept was a pleasant surprise, it has more of a sports bar atmosphere than a traditional Italian restaurant, but they still offer a solid selection of pastas, pizzas, subs, and other comfort food favorites. They also have a full bar, making it a great place to catch a game. We started with the pepperoni rolls, and they were easily the highlight of the meal. The garlic butter and Parmesan on top made them absolutely irresistible, definitely a 10/10 appetizer. For my entrée, I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with grilled chicken. The chicken was well-seasoned and had a nice crispy exterior that added some texture to the dish. The Alfredo itself was good, but fairly standard and nothing particularly memorable. The garlic bread was also solid and complemented the meal well. While this isn't the best Italian food I've ever had, it was satisfying, reasonably enjoyable, and exactly what I was looking for that evening. I'd happily come back, especially for the lively sports bar atmosphere and those pepperoni rolls.

I was curious to try Uccello's fare after all the chatter. The staff are enthusiastic, from greeting to service to checkout, knowledgeable about their menu, mindful of checking in during the meal, and friendly. The Meatball sub & U-fries combo was a hearty portion but I found the flavor and seasoning weirdly subdued, especially considering they have a vested interest in selling beverages. I would have thought it to be more tomato-forward and salty. My trip ended before I could do a return visit, but I'll be back in a few months and grab something else from the menu. There's definitely potential here.
