I had an old SA 1911 Mil-Spec that I really liked and had for many years. It was the base model and deserved a makeover. Jojo's did front strap checkering, Novak cut Trijicons, beavertail, blended magwell, thumb safety and a world class trigger job. It's my favorite pistol now and even new shooters do well with it even though it's a .45. CT sucks for guns, but at least we have Jojo's. If you're itching for a new gun, consider taking one you already have, even if it's plastic and having JoJo's bring it to its highest form. read more

Took a Savage 350 to Jo Jo's to have the barrel threaded for a suppressor took a while before I fired the gun. I had issues with grouping. Brought the gun back and they checked several possibilities. adjusted the scope rings and bore sighted it. Went back and fired it again still had issues. Went back to have it looked at again. Bought our first guns here a few weeks ago. The staff was super helpful and informative. The woman that works there was great. I was a little insecure in not knowing what I wanted, and she asked me questions and recommended guns. She asked questions about the guns while I was holding it which was super helpful too. Ended up with a glock. I honestly wouldn't have bought anything if it wasn't for her. We will be back to get more when we are ready, but her service was beyond great. They've helped me in the past with things like transfers and custom/smith work. Great machinists and very knowledgeable (they've steered me off certain brands or options with good reasoning why). Very experienced guys and know what they're doing. I've gone to JoJo's twice now since reading all these reviews and I can't help if the negative ones are like one time gun owners or what or people who literally don't shoot and just wanna nitpick & complain. But I've brought 5 different slides to JoJo's to pin/weld my compensators. The first go around was 2-3 slides and comps and they function great. Barely noticeable that it was pinned. This latest go around I couldn't even see where it was pinned on one model, and the other was done so well, unless you ran your finger over a specific area, you would've never known it was pinned. The Rogue Gunworks comp is my fav compensator on the market however the Cali design is somewhat flawed in that it's an aluminum made comp and the roll pin needs to be soldered into place to make it "Cali" or on this case CT legal. Well the last place I went to have this comp installed marred up the comp so bad, it was so deformed and though they painted it black and it functions flawlessly, it looks horrendous one you shoot it enough it and the cerakote wears off. I have to keep reapplying gun blue to it to keep it black and looking fresh. Not the case with the JoJo's version. The craftsmanship on "welding" the comp on this latest gun (my Glock 43X) was so tight and so smooth looking it looks like it came that way from the factory. I was blown away. I'll update this review with photo when I can so yall can see how beautiful the work is (just hope Yelp doesn't flag the post if I do so .) Anyway I would HIGHLYYYYY recommend JoJo's and they're the only "gunsmith" I am bringing my guns to from now on. They know their sh** and were really nice to me and came in at a fair price. The first go round was much cheaper because I was a first time customer which was really nice, the second go round a little bit more expensive but not shockingly expensive. Just went to Jo Jo's to buy some clips and ammunition. Website said it opens at 10:30 on Sunday. We arrived at 10:33 and waited until after 11:00. Rang the bell for entrance and was told they were not open. At 11:13 the open sign was on so we rang again. The owner came to the door yelling at us that he just told us the store was not open. I said the web site said they open at 10:30 and his response was oh well, that's wrong we have opened at 11:00 for a year. Well fix it! He then asked what we were looking for he laughed, became rude, and sarcastic so we left. Not good business practice. read more

I used to be a customer. I bought 2 guns from them and had other minor gunsmithing work done. I went in looking for a sign p322 22 pistol. They had one in stock for $550. I had been checking around and The Gun Store in Waterbury had the exact same gun for over $100 less. I told them this and they called the gun store to verify. After verifying I was not lying, they offered there gun for $525 and said that's the best they could do because they didn't do the volume that the gun store did. I understand this, but 100 dollars is still significant to me. At that point the owner said I get it, your cheap!. I didn't hold it against them because they couldn't match the price, but to call me cheap for wanting to save 100 dollars is really insulting. I did not respond other than to say goodbye and now they have lost me as a future customer forever. read more

Let me give you some of the examples of what has happened to me when I went there: I wanted two P-Mags but there was only one left in stock, so one of the guys suggested the one P-Mag and a standard AR mag with a Magpul follower that was about $3 less. Because they didn't have exactly what I was looking for, he lowered the P-Mag price by $3. My Kimber Custom II was shooting consistently to the right. I brought it in to show to Joe; he took one look at it, said "yeah, the sights are off, hang on a sec." He was in and out of the back room in about two minutes. He came back and said that it should be perfect now. I asked how much for adjusting the sights, he said, "No charge. It only took about 15 seconds. Call me if it's still not shooting straight." I took it to the range not long after and once again, it was an absolute tack driver. Had my trigger smoothed and new sights put on my Kimber. I don't know what they did to it, but the gun shoots better than I can. Also, whatever they did cost under $100. I've called them multiple times asking about class III gun laws. They always explain absolutely everything I need to know and tell me to come in if I need any more clarification and help. So, small things, but customer service is absolutely top notch here. Small place in a business park you wouldn't even know where it was unless you already knew, but they are constantly busy. A guy I know who works for Colt said that JoJos is probably the best custom gunsmithing company in Connecticut. I can believe that. Joseph's Customs 1911s are works of art. Also, everything else they sell is quality. The only two negatives is that it's small, but I'm sure that keeps the overhead down, so that's not a real complaint. Also, they have good retention of employees so they're never hiring, much to my disappointment. I can't say enough good things about JoJos. I don't know what they're doing now due to the new gun laws, but whatever they go or whatever they do, I implore people to give them your service. You won't be disappointed. read more

I've had several gunsmithing jobs done here and the work by John and Jody has always been excellent. My last project however was damaged by one of the employees and Jody insisted on making things right. At considerable expense to himself, Jody replaced the damaged items and sincerely apologized for my trouble. I left feeling that I had been done right by a man of great integrity who takes pride in the work turned out by his shop. Also while waiting at the counter I've been able to observe other customers interacting with the staff and everyone received great service and seemed very satisfied. As for myself, I just had another gunsmithing job done at JoJos and I'll be back to see them again for my next project. read more

You'll be hard pressed to find a more knowledgeable staff in the state and all are more than willing to help, explain or educate customers on guns. These guys know how to service their customer. Great you with a smile and listen to your requests. I brought in an M14 to be worked on and my problem was very unusual. I had looked and spoken to gunsmith's across the country and they said can't be done or simply don't want to do the job. JoJo's Gun Works took my weapon and completed the task perfectly. Very reasonable as well. While I was there I needed my AR15 repaired. They did it on the spot. I walked out with two guns repaired. Kudo's for their team work and honesty.
