I was referred to Dr. Johnson by another dentist. The receptionist had reassured me that insurance would cover the evaluation, but please note, this is a "PAY FIRST BEFORE WE CARE ABOUT YOUR TREATMENT" if you are out of network. However, again, I was reassured that I would be covered after providing my information. This was stated before I came in. On the day of the appointment I enter into what was decorated around 1987 and looked everyday of it. Now, I'm not suggesting that shiny marble and Persian rugs are necessary, but there is very limited seating and I ended up sandwiched between two others on a stained living room couch made more for two instead of three. Ok, well, I was hoping it would be worth the wait. Of course the doctor is behind and I am called back to a room that looks every bit as ancient as the reception area. I tried to engage the technician in small talk, but she was very young and shy and greatly inexperienced at answering very general, basic questions about the facility. She also shoved the film for the X-ray into my mouth hurting me. One thing she did know, and asked me several times about considering was the obnoxious charge of around $100 just for nitrous oxide or more commonly known as "laughing gas" for anxiety. Ok, this stuff should be included with service or boast a nominal charge at best. That is truly taking advantage of scared patients and is an outrage. Insurance does not cover this as well. It's more money for the doctor. Incredible. It's like buying a soda and having a charge for the cup. The doctor finally came in and seemed cordial, but deeply reminded me of a salesman doing an infomercial. Dr. Johnson has the "you will agree with me" tone and smile down pat. He advised me that he did not want to perform a root canal because the tooth was cracked and couldn't be saved. He stated I needed an extraction and either a bridge or an implant. I got yet another referral to an oral surgeon. I'm starting to wonder where the benefit is in recommending each other rather than letting the patient educate themselves and make a wise decision. I didn't ask for this referral. I got up, PAID!! Give them money! and left. I was notified by my insurance company a few weeks later that they were absolutely not paying, thank you, now I'm out well over $100 for a wasted trip as I was told by a SECOND DOCTOR, THE ROOT CANAL SHOULD HAVE BEEN PERFORMED AS THE CRACK DOESN'T EXTEND TO THE GUM LINE. Wow. Glad I didn't have it pulled! Won't be back, threw away the referral and am rethinking the dentist that greatly encouraged me on many occasions to patronize this establishment. read more

You'll love his room set up - TV's on the ceiling and wireless headphones so you can listen and watch your favorite show. If that's not your thing - you can always ask for laughing gas and take a nap. He's very skilled, super quick, gentle, kind and has a wonderful chairside manner. I work in dentistry as a dental assistant so for y'all who don't know what that means I help the dentist with procedures such as root canals. Because one of my roots had calcified my Dr referred me out to Dr. Johnson. He was phenomenal!!!! He worked super fast and I felt nothing!!! His staff were very nice and he made sure I was as comfortable as one can be getting a root canal. He had headphones that used Bluetooth to link to the tv so I could be distracted. I can also say I trusted him before I even met him though b/c I have seen him be an honest endodontist. I have seen him NOT do root canals when we have sent patients over for an evaluation ( we do this b/c he has equipment most general dentists don't have) b/c the tooth has a crack that makes the tooth unsalvageable or one that didn't need a root canal, at least he was not 100% sure it did. This is a big deal b/c there are a lot of Endodontist out there that would do it just to get the money. He is obviously a dentist I trust but one I would trust to work on my family and friends! read more

Dr Johnson and his staff are great! I'll start by saying I'm the biggest dental "chicken" out there and I was singing his praises when I left. I DID NOT FEEL A THING. He said i would but it was completely pain free. If you need a root canal, you want it to be pain free!! He informed me every step of the way on what to expect which did calm my nerves. The laughing gas and TV help as well. The procedure was quick and Dr Johnson could not be any nicer. I will confess that this is the 3rd root canal he has done for me(don't be jealous) over the past 13 years and every experience has been the same. I initially just went for a consult & planned to do treatment at a later date. Dr.Johnson is amazing!!!!!! I cracked my tooth over the weekend and didn't know what to do. I called him first thing Monday morning and he told me to come in for an x ray. Dr. Johnson said I will need a crown, however it might be best to do the root canal now instead of years down the road. He was really nice and explained everything about my tooth. He did the root canal and made sure my mouth was 100% numb before starting. Dr Johnson finished in about 25 min and I didn't feel anything except for the first shot. I had a root canal here and was very pleased. The front staff was very helpful in obtaining my referral and insurance claim information. The day of service, I had little to no waiting. The staff and doctor have gone out of their way to make patients comfortable in the procedure area. I enjoyed listening and watching tv during the procedure. Dr. Johnson had a very calming effect on me. Normally I get anxious for this kind of procedure. But I could tell the doctor and his staff were highly skilled at this.
