My new dentist referred me to someone he highly recommended, but the only thing I could think of was the experience I had with Dr. Shapiro back in 2020. Dr. Shapiro is a magician. So gentle and careful. Dr. Shapiro always addresses my concerns and even when I think I don't need a root canal he actually goes through small tests to verify if in fact I'm in the right place. Lol Dr. Shapiro explains what to expect in detail and makes sure I'm breathing and comfortable. No one wants this procedure right? But if I have to get a root canal I'm coming to see Dr. Shapiro. I am a young person and woman of color and both times I have come here Dr. Shapiro was professional and knowledgeable. I read the prior review and hate that you had that experience as that is nothing what I received. Needless to say Dr. Shapiro has been great through a difficult situation. He plans on retiring and I hate to hear it as he is soooo good at what he does and I would recommend his service and expertise to the most skeptical. Thank you for your service in a time when I was soo afraid of this procedure and thank you for care and patience during my procedure. I could go on but I won't. I would just say if you need a root canal go Dr. Shapiro before he is retired.

Please do not make an appointment with Dr.Shapiro if you are young, a woman, or a person of color…read more I am writing the review I wish I would have read before making an appointment. The staff are very kind, especially Laura, but do not let that fool you, Dr. Shapiro's office is the dentist office that gives dentistry a bad reputation. I was charged for a procedure I did not agree to, my pain was ignored, and Dr. Shapiro created an odd atmosphere as he commonly referenced me as "girl" and played old western music over the intercom, a small detail but odd. Probably a comfortable space for older white people but everyone else, choose any other option for your services, it will be money and time better spent. I have never written a review for any service ever, but I want to help anyone avoid what I experienced.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Michael Bens. From the moment I walked in as a new patient with a…read morebroken tooth,I felt I was in exceptionally capable and caring hands. Dr. Bens is the rare dentist who combines true professionalism with genuine compassion. He takes the time to explain everything in detail, making sure you fully understand your condition and treatment options. There is never any rush, and no question goes unanswered. What truly sets him apart is his level of involvement and advocacy for his patients. He referred me to an excellent endodontist for root canals and personally communicated with the specialist to ensure seamless care. He then referred me to a prosthodontist and went above and beyond--spending time on a phone call and texts coordinating my treatment. Dr. Bens even called me personally afterward to walk me through everything. Most impressively, after reviewing my prosthodontist treatment plan, Dr. Bens took the initiative to speak directly with the prosthodontist. That kind of dedication is extraordinary. He also took the time to carefully explain why the treatment was necessary and why the original cost was so high, which I truly appreciated. Dr. Bens is not only highly skilled but deeply invested in his patients' well-being. I feel incredibly fortunate to have found him and would recommend him without hesitation to anyone seeking outstanding dental care.

I have a horrible…read moredental phobia, and for the past few years, I've flown home to NY for cleanings and dental care because I was petrified to try anyone else. I did alot of research on dentists in Atlanta, namely those with reviews and experience treating patients like myself. I just had my first full visit at Dr Bens (cleaning &xrays) and what an amazing experience. Kendra was aware of my phobia and handled me with care from the moment I poked my head in the door. She explained every thing she was going to do and walked me thru what was a very comfortable cleaning. She didn't make me feel embarrassed about my phobia, but she made me feel empowered by not moving any faster than I was comfortable. So I felt in control. The environment is beautiful. The other staff members I met were very friendly. Dr B is phenomenal and has great quick wit. Thanks guys.....You're A+ all the way.

So I went in sweaty palms and weak knees from the fear of getting numbed, knowing I had to go through with it one way or another. There was absolutely no pain - I'm not kidding. INFORMATIVE AND ASSURING - Dr. Goodman answered all of my questions at each appointment and walked me through the work he completed, and then answered my follow up questions. He was patient and honest, which I really respect. I'm lucky to have found him, I hope you're lucky enough to read this review and follow through with going to see Dr. Goodman and his team. Stay well.

Dr. Goodman quickly determined I needed a root canal and got the job done on the spot. Of course, "root canal" is synonymous with "pain," but Dr. Goodman assured me I wouldn't feel a thing. I had my iPod ready to go to blast loud music to help me through it and didn't even need it. I didn't even feel the novicane shots because I was numbed with Q-Tips before they went in. Plus, Dr. Goodman and his staff are nice, good-natured and fun. Post surgery was painless as well. I can't recommend highly enough.

I initially saw an endodontist who diagnosed me with issues involving my two front teeth--one tooth…read morethat needed a root canal, and the other tooth that needed retreatment. This doctor ultimately said one of the teeth might need to be extracted later on. Because it was a significant and concerning diagnosis, I told him I would like to get a second and third opinion, which he fully supported. After some research, my husband found Modern Endodontics of Buckhead. Their website emphasizes "advanced technology," "compassion," and a "patient-centered approach," which gave me hope. Per their website:..."they (modern endodontics of Buckhead) care for each patient from the first phone call all the way through follow-up treatment ....." Unfortunately, my actual experience was far from what they advertise. From the first phone call, the front desk staff--particularly one individual--was very dismissive and unhelpful. I got the distinct impression that she was more focused on her upcoming vacation than trying to help me. I explained that I was seeking an unbiased third opinion and that I already had two recent 3D scans and doctors' notes. However, she was adamant that Dr. Raymond required scans taken only in their office. I completely understand that some providers prefer to use their own imaging systems, and I even offered to take a third scan, if needed. All I asked was that the doctor at least review the scans I had already paid for before making that determination. I also tried to find out his availability to come in for an initial consultation. However, she did not want to put me on the schedule until the doctor had reviewed the documentation I provided. I put effort into sending all these images and information without knowing whether I would actually be seen. Per Modern Endodontic's of Buckhead's website, "Dr. Raymond starts by reviewing your medical history, taking radiographs (x-rays), performing an oral examination, and doing diagnostic tests." Instead, it seems Dr. Raymond reviewed a report from one of my prior doctors--without ever speaking to me, reviewing my scans, or examining me in person. According to the receptionist, Dr. Raymond's recommendation was to extract both teeth and that he didn't want me to have to spend extra money. I was very confused. How could a provider make such a serious recommendation without even examining the scans they insisted were necessary, let alone evaluating me in person? And I much rather keep my teeth as long as I can and spend the money. Making a diagnosis without that interaction is not thorough--it's dismissive. When I asked how he arrived at that conclusion, the receptionist simply said, "He can just tell." When I mentioned that another endodontist believed a root canal was still a viable option for one tooth, she responded, "I don't know. That's just what he said." Trying to get any clarity or meaningful assistance from the front office was frustrating and demoralizing. In the end, my husband pointed out this may have been a blessing in disguise. And I agree. I wouldn't feel comfortable entrusting my dental care to a provider who refuses to review available information or make a diagnosis without seeing his patients-- and whose staff treats patients with such disregard. And I saved $450 for the consultation. Unfortunately, my experience with Modern Endodontics of Buckhead was unprofessional, unwelcoming, and disappointing. I cannot recommend this practice.
