This product is great when it works. My issue is with the service from JC Generators. Since 2020 JC Generators had provided exceptional service on my Automatic Standby 20kW Generac generator. The last annual service was 08/29/2024. No more. The winds from Hurricane Helene blew the lid open. Rain damaged the board that would activate the generator. Fred and Nicole came out 3 days later. Replacement parts would cost about $550-600. Both had mentioned, as did Bob the owner in a separate conversation, that over the past few years Generac lids have been blown open by winds. Also, Bob said that he recommends that the lids be locked. In the 4 yrs they have serviced my generator, no one from JC Generators had recommended to me that the lid be locked. Had I known that I would have kept the lid locked because I cannot afford avoidable, expensive repairs.
One may ask why the lids are not locked after service. My spine is injured. I was unable to see the lid locks until Fred showed me where they were located and provided me with a set of keys.
When the part/s were delivered, Nicole called to schedule the service for Friday, 10/18. I had called Bob to discuss and try to negotiate a solution. I believe that JC Generators should absorb all or most of the cost of the repair. Bob said that he would have to think about that and he would call me back. That call ended abruptly. October 18th came and went without any calls or anyone showing up.
Four days later I called Bob to check on the status. He continually interrupted and raised his voice at me. No one from his company would be servicing my generator. A very agitated Bob told me that since they did not install my generator, that I had not been instructed in the homeowner's responsibilities, did not have keys (a set was found in my deceased husband's drawer) ..., JC Generators would not provide service and was not responsible for the damage to my generator and for me to find another contractor for service. End of call. Not by me.
There are at least two sides to every situation. Speak to Bob and make your own decision as to whether or not you would want his company to install or service your generator. Should anyone want additional details, I'm willing to answer their questions. read more
