I LOVE John's Place. That's probably a bit of an outlandish statement to make about a business before ever actually having visited it, but oh well. Oh. Well. I have ordered their delivery far too many times lately. Yeeees, there are other great places in the area for delivery, but I'm hooked on a couple things in particular at John's: 1) New York Pizza. The honey mustard base with the grilled chicken and bacon just makes for one excellent pie. Goodness. 2) Fried Mac and Cheese. They're like mozzarella sticks, but... with mac and cheese inside. They are lovely. You'll get six of 'em. I also like their traditional pizza, Italian hoagie, cheesesteak and chicken salad. Their chicken salad isn't one of my top chicken salads, but it'll do in a chicken salad crunch, so that makes them good in my books. So, yes, try John's Place. They're open early. They deliver fast. They won't kill your wallet. They're just great. I love them so much.

On my most recent visit, I wanted a salad. I asked if they could make a super veggie salad that pulled together grilled vegetables only offered for hoagies and combined with a cut grilled veggie burger. They were up to the challenge and produced a mind blowing salad. The waitress mentioned that the kitchen got a real kick out of making the super veggie salad. It was better than I could have hoped. The Super Veggie Salad was so legendary that I photographic it and posted it. John's Place treated me like royalty by creating Super Veggie Salad, which I eat all of because it was so delicious. This was fitting since I actually became the Duke of John's Place when checking in on this visit.

    "small" philly cheesesteak pizza

Got some quick takeout using the Yelp Eat24 app, which I never used before (more of a Seamless guy myself). Easy enough to navigate, and waited just 10 minutes and my food was ready. The philly cheesesteak pizza was damn good. The crust was very crispy, hot, and they definitely don't skimp on toppings. The "small" pizza was very sizable and more than enough for one person with a big appetite. I also tried the buffalo chicken sandwich, which is also massive. The chicken was fresh and came in huge chunks and the buffalo sauce with blue cheese dressing was unbelievably tasty. The lady at the counter was super friendly and even joked around with me for using the app to order takeout. She seemed to know everyone that came into the restaurant, which gave the joint a very familiar feel. Great place for a quick meal in the Fairmount area. The offerings are pretty unique and the service is always very friendly. It's definitely a neighborhood favorite and I'll be back again.

I'm really digging their pizza. And their french fries were cooked perfectly. There is nothing worse than limp french fries. Their fries were crispy with a little salt added. The pizza had a perfect cheese to sauce ratio. It was a little oily, but not to the point where oil was dripping off the end of the slice. The lady that took our order was nice, and laughed at the jokes my coworker made about me. But it was all in good spirit. What made the visit best was the fact that they had air conditioning. Esp since it is close to 90° outside. Their pizza is better than some of the close competition pizza places nearby. Will be back again.

I went to Middle Child a few weeks ago just after 3, only to find it closes at 3. Today I returned, around 1, and there was a good crowd there having lunch. I ordered the Surfer, and the Hash Brown Potatoes. The Surfer is Middle Child's most popular sandwich. It's made on a Ciabatta bun, and has a thick layering of tender, lean, House Turkey breast, with melty Swiss cheese, arugula, blueberry chutney, and Duke's mayo. It's hard to describe just how delicious this sandwich was. My biggest concern was the Ciabatta bun - it's not one of my favorites, as I've found them to be tough and difficult to bite through. My fears were quickly put to rest after the first bite! The bun had a slightly crispy exterior - and when I followed through with my first bite, the tender, soft interior of the Ciabatta was a pleasant surprise. In fact, it complemented the thick savory Turkey, arugula, chutney and mayo! It was one of the best Turkey sandwiches I've had. Now, if that wasn't enough, don't forget, I ordered the Hash Brown Potatoes. It said Hash Browns on the blackboard, see attached picture, but these 'weren't your Mama's hash browns'! They are described online as Latka'd Hash Browns. They are thick crispy squares that combine a potato pancake latke with a hash brown texture. The interior reminded me of my mother's potato kugel, which I still reminisce about. In one word, those fried crispy potato squares were outstanding. It's 'a must try' and goes so well with the Surfer! Last, but not least, the Limeade! It was so refreshing! Not too tart, not too sweet... just right! I'll be returning to Middle Child in the not too distant future!

The corned beef was an enticing vibrant pink, tender and juicy, with a perfectly balanced and pure saltiness that accentuated the beef's natural flavor. The scrambled eggs were incredibly smooth and creamy, complemented by the rich, melted cooper sharp cheese. The rye was toasted with butter, giving it a thin, crispy crust and a soft interior--a bit softer than Hershel's East Side Deli's, fragrant but not greasy. Every part was delicious, and the combination was harmonious and delightful. The portion of ingredients was very generous, definitely worth the $14.50 price. The service was a little slow, but the moment you tasted it, you would forgive everything!

If you enjoy the somewhat newer Cooper sharp style that's out there you'll like theirs. The Cooper sharp was gooey, mixed in well with the meat and on the heavier side. The ribeye was thin cut, delicious and the portion was pretty hefty. Second visit I went with - The Nad - $15 Chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, arugula, Mike's Hot Honey that came on an unseeded Liscio's roll. The portion size was good, chicken was fresh with good breading, the hot honey was a tad on the heavy side, but the flavors all came together pretty good on this one. Sweet, salty, light bitterness from the arugula and some heat from the hot honey. I added Thin Cut Idaho fries to make it a combo for $3 extra and I have to say they were delicious. They smelled like McD's and tasted similar. They are cash only, but have an ATM on site. You can use a card if you order online. The one bathroom they have was pretty clean and organized. I will certainly stop back for a visit if I'm in the area to try out more of their menu. Thanks guys!
