John's Pass is a nice boardwalk in Madeira Beach with plenty restaurants, souvenir shops, boat tours, and jet skis. There is something for everyone. There were plenty of families there enjoying spring break. I found some great deals and gifts for family. There was ample parking, but I wish they had valet.

We had a wonderful day at Johns Pass Boardwalk. Lots of shopping, eating, and entertainment options. We took a nice walk, grabbed some taffy, and did some shopping. Always a great time.

This was such a fun spot to walk around, I'm so glad we made it here! There are plenty of shops, restaurants, bars, and especially dessert spots here! We enjoyed a great meal and beer flight at Mad Beach Brewing Co. we walked around several shops and had a great time seeing all the beautiful views here near sunset! It wasn't too crowded on a weak day evening, and we were able to get parking quickly for $4/hour.

John's Pass is a tourist dream with a little mix of nice stores and restaurants equally welcoming for the locals sprinkled in here and there. This is a great central shopping & dining location in the St. Pete area. Usually there's plenty of parking even on a busy day, and lots to walk around and check out. I have been pleasantly surprised that not all of the shops are complete tourist traps. Some actually have some really cute and nice stuff. Of course, there are the places with all the corny shirts and souvenirs and everything because there has to be, but there's so much more than that. There are almost equally as many places to eat, but I'd choose that more carefully. This is the worse part of the tourism area that many of the restaurants aren't that high quality but it's in a busy area near the beach so people come no matter what. I'd highly recommend the Boardwalk Grill if you can get seated in a reasonable time. At John's Pass you can also take a lot of tours along the water, boat rides, jet skis etc or it's fun to at least walk along the back boardwalk.

John's Pass is recovering nicely since back to back hurricanes last Fall devastated it. They were fully closed for some time. This past weekend we stopped by for the Seafood festival. They are recovering nicely. There is still a handful of stores I noticed in one area towards the boardwalk were they were closed. Hopefully that section will recover soon. It's still a great spot to walk and get that by the beach boardwalk feel, see the boats, ride a jet ski or get a tiki boat ride. I love seeing the pelicans and different seabirds there. It's a cool spot for a drink and hangout out with friends and family, catching some rays and having a nice day. You will find many shops with clothes, souvenirs, and just about anything. Make sure to stop by bc it's a cool spot with local vendors.

Shopping, drinking, and eating options a plenty here! The boardwalk has restaurants, bars, and ice cream. The street walkways have the shops.

This was a nice little tourist village to shop. Included places for ice cream, dinner, lunch, tea/coffee, bars, popcorn, cafe, VFW, jewelry, soaps, arcades,, and clothing boutiques. Tourist attractions like the pirate ship or party boats. Handicap parking is always free which I thought was a nice touch. $3 an hour to park in the area which we found was reasonable. So many friendly shop keepers that were always willing to help.

Fact (or myth): John's Pass, which was created by a hurricane in 1848, got its name from pirate John Leveque, who discovered the pass and was the first to sail through it. it was a historic fishing village turned into a shopper's paradise. John's Pass Village and Boardwalk is a top St. Pete/Clearwater attraction with more than 100 shops, restaurants, and water-related businesses. when I was strolling out there, it has a handful of watersports companies specializing in boat rentals, parasailing excursions, deep-sea fishing charters, and more. in fact, I saw dolphins a couple of times. The Royal Conquest, a pirate ship that sails out of John's Pass, runs daily cruises designed for families. It is a great spot for family fun. It also has plenty of fun options for lunch or dinner. great ambiance, nice scenery, and great company - lovely. Chain restaurants like bubba gump shrimp, hooters are there too. I did not get a chance to spend the evening here, but I am pretty sure it would be magical. Shopping: it is lined with nearly 20+ unique specialty shops. If you're looking to take home a souvenir for a loved one - or yourself - head just a block away to this shopping area. Handmade items are quite popular here. Find fine jewelry inspired by the coast at Landing Company, or take home an authentic Cuban cigar from Cuban Paradise Cigar and Cafe Parking: Onsite parking is available. Unlike Sarasota, Bradenton beach- parking is not free here in St Petersburg, it's $3/hour. make sure when you are in the St Pete beach area, you don't do back-in parking. The back number plate should be visible to the sheriff/police. it's the law.

A beautiful sunset from the boardwalk (actually, from Pirates Pub & Grub), but facing east.

John's Pass is a fun tourist center. I wouldn't call it a "tourist trap" because they don't rake you over the coals on pricing. From food, to cruises, to shopping -- pricing is pretty reasonable -- and, in my experience, very reasonable for a tourist area. We took a sunset cruise (Hubbards Marina - fun and well priced) and ate dinner one day and returned another day to do a little browsing, shopping, and eating. We missed it, but apparently the pelicans put on quite a show when the fishing boats come in. You can find videos on YT. Larger selection of souvenirs - they had all the kitsch you'd expect and a lot more in the various shops. Reasonably priced, if you're in need of souvenirs. There is a shop (forgot to get the name!) that makes their own tropical wines and does free tastings (don't forget to tip, though!). If you're a oenophile, this won't be for you. But, if you like sweet, fruity wines and don't have an overly refined pallet (me), this is really fun. We ate at the Pirates Pub & Grub (separate review, but 5 stars and eight thumbs way up from our group) and Bubba Gump Shrimp (two stars for food, but 5 stars for service). There are at least a few other options. We tried the Hershey's Ice Cream place - one of us thought the ice cream "meh" and the other of us thought it the worst abomination of frozen milk and sugar ever made. And, since the one writing this is the one who absolutely hated it, I'm going to say hard pass.

If you've ever been to Cape Cod, John's pass is like a replica of a small beach town with lots of shops and eateries. You can even buy salt water taffy! Mad Beach House Brewery is here if you want a tasty beer or two, and there's a couple of restaurants that offer great seafood, even new england style lobster rolls. Definitely worth a visit. PS. More than likely you'll see dolphins swimming around, really cool spot.

Fun shopping village on the water to visit and have fun. We saw a lot of fun places and bought some good things. We walked out in the ocean and listened to live music. Fun times

John's Pass Village & Boardwalk is a great touristy destination and fun place for locals to visit. The history behind it is interesting- it was actually technically made from a hurricane in 1848. There's a variety of shops and restaurants and bars in the village, and the board walk is beautiful with the ocean, you can see Dolphins regularly swimming there. There are also plenty of water activities you can do there via boats like rafting, sky flying (I think it's called that?) on the ocean, renting speed boats etc. John's Pass boardwalk also has a beautiful memorial called the Hand of Fate that pays tribute to those lost at sea. Parking is not free fyi there's a charge but I recommend parking in the garage by the boardwalk. It's a fun place to visit and to walk around - you should definitely check it out when visiting the area!

I was somehow given to believe that this was a place laden top to bottom with frolic and festivity. Either I was misled or we just came at the wrong time, day, date, whatever... Very scarce parking alongside a typical touristy beach walk area. Multiple T shirt and bikini shops, dotted with the occasional bar or restaurant, and the ever present beach kitsch. We found a decent frozen custard shop and a pretty cool cigar store, but nothing here stands out of the crowd as a must see. If you're from Florida, this is literally the same street you've been on anytime you went to the beach anywhere.

How are the mask bandits at Johns Pass? I'm visiting FL and I've loved going to Johns Pass in prior visits. I don't wear a mask and have not had any problems on Anna Maria Island so far. Is it hit or miss at Johns Pass?

While walking around, we didn't wear one. Some stores had the "mask required" sign but others didn't.

Is Johns Pass open on Christmas day?

The village itself will be open. But not all the shops.

Is it free to park on Saturdays? I read it somewhere and wondering if it was true.

Right now with the red tide it's free to park every day, but I've never heard of the free parking on Saturdays before.

What is the name of the nice swim suit sjop across from DeLosas pizza?

The GOOD: The Publix here is one of the best in our area. A former Albertsons, then a Safeway, it is very large and managed well. The Target is OK, but often jam-packed. I prefer the quieter shopping experience at the other store on Park street. The Petsmart is great and the service is always friendly. The staff at the Michael's location here are always very helpful. I find the Labcorp location to be the best and most efficient that I have ever visited. Smiley Thai is one of the best kept Thai take-out "secrets" in our area! The BAD: There is a significant amount of "bad characters" that often congregate here, especially after dark. Unfortunately, this appears to be more common when there is a major "bus hub" in the area, like the one just south of Target. There always seems to be a small group of them loitering just south of the Publix, hoping that I have spare wealth to gladly and willingly give away for unknown reasons. My apologies, but I am on a strict budget. Don't ever fall in love with a smaller store here. They come and go often. The turnover rate is quite high. I miss that "Bulk Nation" location! They used to have my favorite movie theater here, but I have not been to any since 2013. People constantly checking their cell phones every 5 minutes ruined the experience for me, forever. Never again So try your luck, you may really enjoy shopping here!

The bay, the walkways, some shopping, and a stop at Columbia Restaurant which honestly was not good. Then we went to International Plaza and Bay Street thinking we would do what we always do. Browse, hunt, and find something great on sale. That is how WE shop. We walked into Altar'd State and asked where the sale section was. We were told they do not do sales there. Not even a small rack in the back. .. thought maybe it's just that store Then we went into Dillard's and asked the same question. The woman looked us up and down like we had three heads and gave us the same answer. Finally I made the realization . . This mall is built for people who pay full price and do not question it. To be fair, it is beautiful. Clean, polished, very well put together. A strong mix of stores and a surprising number of high end brands. Completely different than what I expected and it threw me off my game. But there is no thrill here. No hunt. No digging. No moment where you find that one piece that makes the whole trip worth it. Have fun shopping at full price here. I am not one of those people. I do not pay full retail ever and I am not starting now. Hyde Park Village is absolutely perfect for strolling, wandering, lingering, and people watching because if you want to observe how the well heeled set moves through life, this is your front row seat. You will see retirees with serious jewelry sitting at cafés for hours, young professionals dressed like they have brand partnerships, and valet attendants casually opening doors to cars that cost more than some people's homes. It is fascinating in the best way. As for shopping, I will say this with humor and humility, it is way outside of my budget.
