I was referred to Sunscape last spring when the city was going to tear out some very large palms in my yard to do a sewer project. It would be a shame to let those beautiful palms die. Steve was very responsive. He coordinated with the city's contractors to time the pick up of the palms. They brought in heavy equipment and took them out like pros. I couldn't replant them, but he offered me a credit for a planting when the work was finished. I purchased nine new palms, of decent size (Steve calls them instant gratification size) at a fair price and including installation. Now I have a beautiful row of Areca palms lining the back fence and hopefully my old palms have found a good home.
That little project worked out well, so I asked Steve what he thought about installing some pavers and landscaping for my side yard. He immediately gave me his vision of how it should look, which matched mine, so I asked for a quote and gave him the project. One thing I noticed was his workers were the same guys from the palm installation. They are polite and friendly and very hard working. For this project, it required taking out existing concrete, patching a section of pavers in the back where a tree was removed, installing a pool drain to the street, a pad for my garbage cans, tropical landscaping, and pavers for my front porch.
It was a large job and they were here for two weeks. I was more than pleased with the results. It's absolutely beautiful! As a bonus, Steve recommended I add a drip irrigation. Price was very reasonable compared to what others have quoted me, so I said yes. Who wants to hand water all that new landscaping?! When they installed the irrigation, they also added the wires to accommodate outdoor landscape lighting as the wires had to go beneath the pavers. Good thinking because I would have had problems with it later when I got around to that piece.
He also recommended I pull out a foot or two of pavers on the other side of my yard and add some tall landscaping to balance the yard. Another great unsolicited idea that, yes, did cost me money, but in the end, I have the yard I envisioned and it wasn't cost prohibitive to add a couple more plants. I also have a tiny side yard for my dog. The pest control people killed the grass when they sprayed and were supposed to come back out and resod. Well, with all that new beauty in my yard, I didn't want to wait for them to get around to it, so I asked Steve how much? I was quoted $500 before by another landscape company. Steve's price: $175. Yep! Go ahead and do it, and now that we are in this section, how would you rearrange my plants to make it balance out with the rest of my beautiful tropical yard? Steve had his workers move plants around, add a couple, install irrigation on that side, and now my entire yard is complete with irrigation, pavers, and beautiful sod and plants.
I couldn't be happier with the work they did. I did have an issue with some of the pavers being uneven, as would naturally occur in such a large job, but Steve came back out the next day and worked on them until they were set correctly.
If you have an idea of what you want, but don't know how to implement the vision, and want an honest, down to earth company to work with, I highly recommend Steve at Sunscape. read more
