Man, it is some scary stuff coming to this market. Even for me, born and raised in San Pablo. I don't know how I used to come to this market as a kid and not be scared. Maybe just ignorance back in the day. Swear there's always either a homeless guy outside just chilling, or a group of legit gangster looking guys mean mugging whoever goes in and out the market. It's like an adventure just getting into the place. Not to mention it's in the center of one of the rougher spots in San Pablo
On the inside, it's small and dark. I'd compare it to the market at a gas station, only worse. Wow worse than a gas station market? The workers here usually look like the homeless guys or the gangsters outside. One thing I will give these guys credit for is having a lot of food items you won't find in a normal grocery store, especially hispanic ethnic items.
I know I'm sounding like some pretentious yelper that's giving this place a bad review just cause it's in the ghetto, but just because the market is in the ghetto doesn't mean it has to be ghetto. I'd rather drive about 5 minutes more to a decent place to shop without the fear of getting mugged. read more
