Friendly close to the house taco truck. Asada Quesadilla or asada burrito are our go to's. Spicy is for sure spicy. Easy. Quick. Efficient

Fresh flavors & cozy vibes at a Chico gem!…read more Tacos Tonaya is a small, quaint, family-owned spot here in Chico that feels really welcoming. The family not only takes your order but is also in the kitchen cooking your meal -- and they are genuinely friendly and warm. The ingredients taste fresh -- from the beans to the salsa casera -- and they also offer aguas frescas (hibiscus, melon, watermelon, horchata), plus Jarritos, Mexican Coke, and other drinks. We tried the chicken taquitos, and the filling was actually juicy -- not dry like you sometimes find elsewhere. They could kick it up a notch by keeping the chicken seasoning a little simpler with just onion, salt, and pepper so the flavor shines through. The California burrito with carne asada, French fries, guacamole, and cheese was big and delicious! A nice extra touch would be grilling the tortilla to give it that golden crisp bite. Overall, a Chico gem with authentic flavors, friendly service, and room to become even more amazing. .

Its a burrito so its still generally good, but the addition of crunchy cheetos inside the warm ooey gooey burrito does not mix well. I will not get this again. It was very filling I could not finish it (but thats with other burritos too). Extra Nothing extra, same as last time I reviewed 4/5

Best Birria in Chico! I've been to a few places and they were okay but the consume never had a lot…read moreof flavor. Well Mas Amor was amazing - meat is tender and flavorful and the consume is tasty and has some good flavor! Order the BIRRIA!! I should have asked for extra cilantro and onion but we had a wonderful lunch! The decor is so cute and the lighting is calming and nice. Love the artwork super creative and beautiful pieces! The marigold garland on the ceiling is a nice touch and the music videos were on point. It felt like we had gone on a journey and left Chico! I had the Birria Quesadilla with consume and mom had Birria nachos! Neither disappointed for sure. The meat is so tender and flavorful and added a nice touch to the nachos! I was surprised my mom even ordered Birria but she was happy she did. We didn't order chips and was happy we didn't because between the nachos and Birria quesadilla it was the perfect amount of food. Washed it down with a Modelo and couldn't have been happier! Makes me want to go back for the Birria Ramen!! The salsa was served in the cutest little clay containers on a beautiful clay heart plate. The dishes were great and so was the food - I highly recommend trying them out I'm sure the rest of the food is good too! Can't wait to try more from the menu. They have a food truck also off of Nord - will have to try that too!!

Prices were on point $3 for each taco and chips and quacamole well worth the $11+. Homemade tortillas with fajitas were good. Not so good-waitress was nice but never came back to refill our waters and the fajita tasted way too salty. Maybe I'll try again next time I'm in town and see if we can get more stars for this?

Finally bought a lengua burrito with extra meat and they're worth every penny. The burrito is huge…read moreand the meat is delicious, tender and abundant. I also bought a couple of the basic tacos which are crazy good too. The enchilada wasn't that great though because it was a mess in a broken foam container that had no included utensils so there was no way to eat it.

I absolutely love this place, but I can't recommend it to everyone for a few reasons. Let's start…read morewith the positives; I unabashedly love their beans! They blend them totally smooth which I'm not used to, but they taste SO good! I also ADORE their al pastor, but it is always super greasy and I mean like dripping and pooling grease everywhere, saturating the tortillas and making them fall apart. This can be very polarizing depending on personal preference, but to me, fat is flavor & there is no lack of flavor here! I've also tried their tres leches cake which was very yummy. They have a nice patio outside which is pretty empty and a very big dining area so finding a table is never a problem. Now for the negatives; their salsa game is pretty mid at best. I make great salsa at home so I usually take it to go and use my own supply. I almost always order the grilled tacos with al pastor and no sour cream, but the last 3 times I went they put sour cream on the tacos. Not a big deal, but it's kind of comical they can't seem to get it right. They always remake it when I point it out and the food is always great despite the hassle. I love their food, but it's not for everyone. If you are cool with a little grease and aren't too picky about salsa, this could be your spot. A few tweaks to the food and service and this place is an easy 5 stars for me. Despite its flaws, Azteca still rocks and is probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in town.
