He charged $400 for this. I was shocked. Foam will compress after time and I assumed he would use a better material. I called him to discuss, and he said he was sorry I felt this way. He thought $400 was a good price. A lot of other people said he charged a fair amount. Not even close. For 1 hour's work and a piece of foam.

I wanted these chairs to be renewed but without destroying their late 1800s character. I opted for a green velvet. I was confident that Mary would take good care of these chairs when she saw them and got excited about the restoration. These chairs turned out beautiful - Mary restored the springs, batting and straps to preserve the firm but comfortable seating. The velvet and piping work are beautiful. This was our first engagement with Mary and we could not be more pleased. We have other pieces that we will be bringing to Mary for restoration.

My chairs look and feel better now than what they were when I first purchased them. They even did more to my chairs than what I knew and I wasn't charged for the extras. Example: I paid for 1 side of 1 chair to be repaired, but they did all of them, and didn't charge me for the extra ones!!! The cost is also reasonable, compared to other upholstery companies that I contacted, and they charged me a total of $75.00 to pickup my 6 chairs and then return them. It was barely used and was in excellent condition, but for some odd reason the cushion was sinking. I figured, if I got it reupholstered to the color of my choice and had the cushion replaced, it would be good as new. I took to my handy dandy Yelp app and did a search and Mill End popped up. I'm familiar with the shop, since a family member worked there years ago, but I had no clue they did this type of work. I gave them a call and was told to bring in a picture to evaluate the chair because they didn't want me to be without my chair for a long time. Well, I thought bringing in the chair itself would be easier, since I wasn't in a hurry for it. I was greeted by a very knowledgeable staff member who gushed about how beautiful the chair was. She did an evaluation of what would be needed to repair and reupholster it and then showed me the fabrics that were available in the color I selected. They have a large variety of fabrics on-sight in the store, but they do have options that can be ordered. The one I selected was on-sight. We agreed upon the estimated price, I filled out some paperwork and I was out the door. It was literally that quick and simple. Since they have a pretty extensive client list waiting for their projects before me, my estimated date for the chair to be completed was about 2 months or so. To my surprise, I was called about a month later informing me that my chair was ready. I arrived and was extremely pleased with my brand new chair. The workmanship was beautifully done and the cushion they replaced was perfectly placed. They did such a phenomenal job, my parents wanted their chair back. Lol! Not on my watch! Yes, Mill End is a bit pricey, but so worth it! They're truly professionals. I recently moved and my old couch no longer fits my new space. The couch I bad is able to have an…read more"L" shaped couch that had a removable piece at the base that could be made into an ottoman, should you ever just want a standard couch without the "L". The place I bought it from wanted to charge us $500 to create a new cushion to set atop the existing base, which not only felt pretty steep, but they estimated that it would take them a month or two to do the work. Since we already had the longer cushion, we shopped around to see if someone could just convert the longer cushion into a square, rather than creating a whole new cushion: enter Rainbow Upholstery. Not only was the owner incredibly responsive, his prices were more than fair and he was able to complete the work in 1-2 days, not months. I'm so happy with my new ottoman--it looks like it was always meant to look this way, and fits my new home so much better!
