At Johnny Jones you will find the best cuts of meats available. Tomahawks, ribeye, skirt steak, etc... also very good are their own made sausages. Spicy or regular. Should you need something specific that they don't have at the moment ... you can order it and they will special order it for you. Like Rabbit or oxtail or veal Ossobuco. This is the best place to buy premium meats in Kendall. It's a super small shop and you would probably never think to stop here but it's such a difference getting meat here than the grocery store. I always get the vacio (aka flank steak), sausage and the little breads they sell. The vacio is about $13 a pound. I definitely recommend it! read more

Oh man, do they know what they're doing. I always come in and speak with Kiko, who really knows how to fit my exact needs. I come in telling him how much I want to spend, or how many people I'm cooking for, and really delivers with suggestions on the best meats and how to cook them. I usually pick up Picanha, a Brazilian specialty in which I fully recommend to anyone who loves a spectacular cut of salty meat, but the last time I went by, I told Kiko I only wanted to spend about $10 on a good steak. He suggested a really tender cut of sirloin would go great on the grill, especially with my planned of wrapping it in bacon. Went here to get my old man a nice steak for his birthday dinner. The owner was super nice and even gave us a couple of sausages to try out which were quite flavorful. He recommended a nice cut of portherhouse and it had the type of marbling you wouldn't find in any supermarket steak. What a difference to buy your meat at a good old fashion butcher as opposed to your day to day supermarket or your overpriced specialty store. I have visited this place nothing short of 20 times and this last visit will be my last visit. When they actually have supply they tend to have good cuts at a decent price. It is always a guess as to what they have in stock before I'd arrive, so I would constantly have to readjust my "menu" on my way back to the car. Their supply is notoriously inconsistent. Another thing I noticed, time after time after time, was when I'd ask for 1 lb, I'd always get 1.2 lbs. If I asked for 3, it would always be closer to 4. I never made any sort of deal, but I always thought to myself that a 1/4 here and 1 lb there was extremely unethical and unfair business. What else are they doing? Putting their thumb on the scale? Who knows? The other day, I was presented with a 1.5 lb steak, I asked if he would trim it down to the size I requested. He made a pathetic attempt to remove some fat (literally didn't move the scale) and refused to do any more. I urged him to reconsider bc I was not going to buy what he had cut for me. His response was "I don't care." Think of THAT - "I don't care about your business". I hope future customers read this and if they still decide to go there that they 1. call in advance to see if they actually have what you bought last time and 2. Keep your eye on the scale and hold the butcher accountable to sell you the actual weight you ordered read more

If you live close by this is where you should be buying your meat from. I stopped by to pick up some ribeye steaks for a cookout. I usually buy my steaks at Publix because I'm already there and it's convenient. The quality at this butcher shop was incredible. The steaks were cut to my specifications and the marbling on them made my mouth water before even taking them out of the store. The owner was working behind the counter and was very friendly and helpful. He even gave me two sausages to try out since it was my first time in the store. The place is a little pricey compared to a grocery store but you're getting high end restaurant quality beef. I got 3 ribeye steaks about 1 1/2 inch thick and it came to $44. You're going to pay that for one good steak at any fine steakhouse. I consider myself exceptional when it comes to cooking meat. I prepared them as usual with sea salt, pepper, and my own agio e olio marinade. I cooked this particular evening for my spouse and mother in law. It was quiet until everyone took their first bite and we let out a unified "mmmmmmmmm". It was almost melodic. You immediately taste the difference in the quality of meat in comparison to a grocery store. It was one of the juiciest, most flavorful steaks I've ever eaten. Even better than most restaurants. I now know why steak connoisseurs always say buy your meat from a butcher shop, not your local grocery store. Beyond that, the store was small, friendly, and has all you need when it comes to meat. It would be nice if there was some pricing somewhere or a menu but you just have to ask. I cooked the sausages a few days later and those were incredible as well. read more
