I…read morethought I was hiring a kind, trustworthy and professional company but somewhere along the way that completely changed. They told me it would be a 6 week job (which sounded absurd at the time and I knew it would take longer than that). 7 months later after they started work (we moved out in an attempt to make it easier and quicker) we were finally able to move back in. Somewhere along the way they say they went ~$30-40k over budget, which they failed to tell me about until 2 weeks after they stopped working on my house (not fully completing the work). Personally I think they just didn't care about my project and Phil was spending the summer getting his pilots license instead of overseeing the work at my house. They used the money they said I owed them (they never would fully document the expenses) as an excuse to not complete some minor things or honor their 1 year warranty. Before they even stopped working on the house, the LVP flooring they installed through out the house started separating in a couple places. Now it's either separating or buckling all over the house. Their workmanship is poor and they used cheap materials. Their attention to detail is a joke (like the bathroom faucet handles don't start/stop their turn in the same places and hot/cold water is backwards) and numerous mistakes were made throughout the project (used the wrong type of paint on all of the doors in the house and had to redo, they drilled for the wrong size handles on the cabinets having to fill, touch up paint and re-drill, window trim installed crooked, used wrong edging on backsplash, crooked light fixtures, etc.). The cabinets are terrible, the slow close drawers don't close, shelves have fallen down, and they left 2 completely unfinished inside. All of the caulking has dried up and split. The paint job throughout the house including the cabinets is terrible. I spent all my money to be left with something that looks like amateur did it. Phil's office manager wife was absolutely horrible to work with once I signed the contract. Before she was super nice. Same with Phil. Phil flat out lied to my face multiple times - saying he had purchased finishes when he had not. Then when it was time to install, the finishes I chose they were no longer available. I had to take additional time off of work to go find new ones. Anyhow, I could go on all day about how much I think they suck but my advice is to steer clear of these folks - no integrity or professionalism.

After mediation I signed a waiver releasing stonewood of future issues. Fast forward to 2021 when mold appeared suddenly on my ceiling and drywall tape started separating. To my dismay, Stonewood Construction did not follow my city approved plans and the entire roof was not vented. Anyone familiar with a shed style roof knows that the venting is different then your traditional roof. The damage is extensive, estimated at $70,000 including removal of a large section of the roof. Stonewood Construction has chosen not to cover the damage, falling back on the old totally unrelated CCB agreement. This is their right. However they do not appear to have the ethical standards to pay for this repair. It was their huge mistake, and I believe that an excellent company would take care of this regardless of the CCB board ruling because it is the RIGHT thing to do. Buyer beware!!!!

They also vastly improved the deck with handsome railings and steps down to the yard. Actually, if I could, I would give FJC even more stars. Of all the contractors I have worked with over my lifetime, Fred was by far the most committed to ensuring that I got what I wanted, and the most collaborative. His suggestions and creative solutions vastly improved the ultimate design and saved me money in several areas. He also has excellent taste. The LVP flooring that he found and recommended to me is stunning. I spend a few minutes every single day just admiring my floors - yes, I actually do. I called Dreyco (60 miles away from my town) They came out and leveled the floor because it was carpet before and wasn't level under the pad. They then did a great job installing the 2.25 inch planks in a huge area, living room, bedroom, and walk-in closet. Then they did 3 more smaller rooms from carpet to LVP. Great improvement.

It was agreed that the job wouldn't start until after the first of the year. Tried to contact the company on January 5th. Left a message on the answering machine. No call back. Called again a couple of days later. Still no response. Tried a third time. No call back. I drove out to the showroom a few days later and found it closed and empty. DREYCO had moved out. Managed to track down Tanners mother to find he had moved into a warehouse complex off W.11th. When I arrived the place looked abandoned and the only sign that anything was going on as a small sign on one of the windows. I dug up some other phone numbers and still no call back. I Finally managed make contact with Ceasar to inform him that I had hired another contractor to do the job and wanted a refund. Ceasar agreed and said he would have refund check in the mail on a few days. It arrived a few days later, but failed to cash. Insuffient funds. That was the end of Februay. I'm still holding a bad check on 3/25/2024. I tried to make contact today but no one arrived at the new warehouse location. Next step. . . . Maybe the DA's office to file a formal complaint. I hope I don't have to do that.

Some work done poorly, work took forever and then never finished.....this company took time off to do other jobs, then quit and left some of their stuff behind for me to clean up. During this time, their license and bonding was dropped. They might be OK for a small job, but nothing comprehensive. Assistance help was poor and not professional quality.
