I've been receiving letters from the city suggesting we add it to their historical registry, so we wanted to make sure this was done right. I was given Matthew's number from another painting service I had called due to multiple high ratings on Angie's list. This other service was booked up, but recommended Green Peaks due to some projects they had done together. Matthew was quick to come out and very reasonable with his quote. I appreciated his down-to-earth approach to letting me know what I needed. He's knowledgeable, friendly and confident in his work. I searched around for painters with good reviews. Several were booked, but I was able to receive 4 total quotes. Our house has multiple overhangs and is full of nooks, crannies and decorative trim associated with an old Dutch colonial. It had been baking in the sun for quite some time and needed some real TLC. Of the quotes given, his was lowest and I felt the most comfortable with his assessment of the project. His communication was great prior to, during, and after completion. The crew were considerate and focused. We had to leave for much of when they were working, but they didn't need us around. We had a TON of caulking to do (they even suggested areas they felt needed more attention) and a fair amount of scraping and priming. I'm sure it was a major challenge. They did fantastic work!!! Never complained about what probably was a larger job than originally planned and actually offered to do things that I hadn't thought of in order to make the house look even better (like color schemes on downspouts, how to work around deck shading, etc.). They kept everything very clean as well. You are welcome to contact these guys to get my address if you'd like to see the work. I highly recommend them and feel blessed they had an open slot for us. The bathroom had the most awful, early 80's, peach colored shower enclosure, I could not live with - and the counter was much too short. The backyard had a large lawn and a small deck - it was crying out for a more useful space for entertaining. My street generates a lot of traffic noise and I needed something to help reduce it. I also wanted an attractive trash/recycling bin deck, close to the street, for convenience. I looked for reviews and Emerald Valley Home Repair popped up. I like licenses and BBB ratings - Ted has them. He was professional in his walk through and intelligent, creative and confident with his advice and ideas - that he quickly put me to ease with his clear rapport I chose Ted Colee. My new larger kitchen space includes my necessary dishwasher and a couple new cabinets and sparkles with quartz counter tops throughout. He also replaced the lighting. The bathroom shower panels were removed and replaced with new bright white tiles. The deck steps down to a circular stone patio that allows for more entertaining and several large potted plants. I worked with Ted on ideas for the front driveway and we came up with a spectacular walled in - shingled and planter deck. It looks fantastic and provides more privacy in my front yard and most importantly, has reduced the road noise. The shingled trash/recycling/green-waste bin deck has a drop down ramp gate: So convenient! This was a series of jobs that effectively have turned this house into my home. Knowledge, skill, dependability, trust and respect are all vital in building that working relationship and creativity and flexibility complete the package. The rehab loan depended on it in order to proceed. We met Roman at the property, told him what we wanted and what we had to work with. The guy did not seem interested in being there at all to me. I ended up walking away and letting my wife talk. At the end, he said we'd have a bid from him in a week. That week came and went... NOTHING..... I called. He said he'd get his notes to me by the end of the day to make sure we were on the same page. No surprise, I didn't get that Email as promised. Days later, I get his notes. We confirm, YES this is what we want to do. We didn't hear back from him until a month later when we got an Email stating they aren't taking any new jobs. All I have to say is it's a damned good thing we gave up on contractors to get back to us and went with a conventional loan instead of the 203k we started with. What the hell is wrong with contractors in this area?? Nobody seems like they want to work. They all say they'll get back to you but it's crickets from there.

After picture showing obvious paint patches. There was no attempt to clean the area or blend in the paint. Picture 3. Soffit beside chimney that was supposed to be included in the $500 bid that they didn't even look at and looks like it might need to be better secured. Picture 4. Before picture of soffit and facia that was included in the $500 bid that were both supposed to be replaced. Picture 5. After picture of facia was replaced however soffit was just nailed back in because they claimed the wood was still good.
