Today, I finally got through to someone, but the woman I spoke with was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I asked genuine questions about their policy--simply because I was confused--she hung up on me. Completely unprofessional. I tried calling back several times to get her name, but she refused to answer, and the call kept going back to that fax machine sound. Even Santee Alley in downtown LA would offer better customer service. This business has no place in Malibu!

I decided to visit the store instead of ordering online because I wanted to make sure I got the correct size. The first time I visited this location, an employee named Hannah (I believe that was her name) helped me. She's short with jet black hair. Unfortunately, she was extremely rude. While I was asking questions about sizing, she seemed annoyed and gave off the impression that she didn't want to help. The second time I visited the store was today, on my birthday. I wanted to buy something as a gift to myself. She happened to be there again, and when I asked about an item on the silver rack she was once again very rude and dismissive. She looked like she either hates her job or just didn't want to deal with me. Another employee ended up helping my friend and me. She had an accent (I didn't catch her name), but she was much kinder and actually helpful, so I appreciated that. The store itself is really cute. The design feels very 70s-inspired and they even have a lounge-style seating area that feels like a waiting room. They also regularly have items on outside sale racks--things like bathing suits, hats, shirts, leggings, and sweatpants. Parking is not great. You may have to park across the road for free parking or drive further down to find a spot. Also, because the store is in Malibu, expect heavy traffic. Overall, I probably won't be returning to this location. Now that I know my size and have a few pieces from the brand, I'll likely just order online. It's nice to go into a store the first time to feel the fabric and see how things fit, but the customer service here made the experience disappointing.

Then I accidentally brushed my elbow on another stack of nearby T's which caused an unfortunate crease on the one on top. The saleslady who hovered next to me during this mishap, perhaps in an effort to make it clear how much time they put into folding clothes at their job, took both piles of shirts off the shelf and made me wait with my items while she perfected the shirts' folds. After my daughter and I waited on her (no that's not a typo), she then announced she was now ready to ring me up at the register. This is and has been a continuous problem at this location. I hope management considers a workshop for the employees on quality and professional customer service. Making a customer wait with their items while you fold clothes is unacceptable and rude. This can and should be done after you've finished sale transactions. If I didn't like the actual James Perse clothing so much I'd truly never go back. Customers spending $400 on three T-shirts should be treated at a much higher standard.
