While the initial HVAC and plumbing work appeared acceptable at first, multiple issues became apparent over time. Some installations required repeated adjustments, certain problems were not properly diagnosed the first time, and there were ongoing airflow issues that were never fully resolved. This led to rework and ongoing troubleshooting that a homeowner should not expect from a professional contractor. More concerning was how accountability and professionalism were handled afterward. Items and tools belonging to me that were borrowed during the work were not returned when requested, and communication around resolving this was dismissive rather than professional. This is something consumers should be mindful of when allowing access to their home and property. Based on the quality control, the need for repeated corrections, and how disputes and borrowed property were handled, I can no longer recommend this contractor. I'm sharing this so future customers can make an informed decision and set very clear expectations up front.

An electrician then came out but couldn't figure out how to connect things. Frank painstakingly tested all of the wires in varying combinations and while connecting and disconnecting thermostat and condenser wires to figure out the mess of wires. Eventually, he got it working. He's also an extremely nice guy, who charged something very reasonable given the amount of time he spent working everything out. We will definitely be calling Frank next time we need HVAC help.

Wish I could give zero stars. Here is what happened…read more Called Haverstraw to fix a furnace that kept shutting off seconds after starting. Getting a technician on site took four attempts over three days due to repeated no shows and scheduling failures. When work finally began the scope kept growing, a commitment made onsite that the new control board would be included at no extra cost was later ignored and I was billed an additional $370. Five visits and nearly $1,800 later my AC was doing the exact same thing the furnace had been doing. I brought in a second company. They found the problem in under an hour: the new control board Haverstraw installed had been incorrectly wired. One technician. One visit. Problem solved. When I presented this to Haverstraw they responded without anyone putting their name on it, denied any responsibility, and had the nerve to claim the board was reinstalled as originally found. They put in a brand new board. There was nothing to reinstall. If you are looking for reliable, accountable service look somewhere else.

They'll send a local plumber and promised them they will get paid the service charge at least.
