Late post -- Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center…read more Let's be honest--no one wants to spend time at a surgical center. But when you're greeted by familiar, friendly faces each visit, it truly makes the experience feel far less intimidating. I've been here a few times now, and it really hit me how many incredible nurses I've encountered but never properly acknowledged. In the moment, you're focused on the procedure--but it's the people who leave the lasting impression. A heartfelt thank you to Kenya and Jenn for taking such great care of me during both pre-op and recovery. Their calm, attentive approach immediately put me at ease. And to the entire OR team--about 5-6 nurses whose names I didn't have the chance to catch--your professionalism and seamless teamwork did not go unnoticed. Of course, I'm also incredibly grateful to my orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon, Dr. Lundeen, along with Alex Ernst, MD, and Lindsey Whitlock, CFA. Having a team you trust makes all the difference, and I truly felt I was in the best hands. And a very special shoutout to Jen B--my "IV queen." At this point, she recognizes me not just by name, but by face--and that level of familiarity brings instant comfort. She is truly one and done every single time, and I can't thank her enough. To Jen B and all of the amazing nurses here--your compassion, patience, and dedication don't just make a difference... they define the entire experience. Highly recommend this team if you're ever in need of their services. Grateful beyond words.

You know what hurts more than your current pain? Getting an intervention you might not need, or…read moreworse, causes more harm. I'm here to share my testimony and let you know there are non invasive and effective courses of treatment. At 29 years of age I first felt the shooting/burning pain down my leg and it was extremely alarming. However, with time and cautious movements the burning began to diminish. Unfortunately, with pressure to return to work and the desire to be completely free of pain I was talked into an epidural injection. Against my better judgement I followed through with the epidural, which increased/spread the burning sensation, left my legs weak/unstable and gave me blinding headaches for three months. This prolonged my healing process (physical and emotional) and left me with physical deficits. Since then I have tried and learned a few things. Firstly, when it comes to decisions about your body make sure you're 100% certain this is what you want to do, because regretting the decision is way worse than waiting. Consider the following: New symptoms or old amplified symptoms are scary and all you want is for the pain to go away. After multiple failed interventions I learned emotional trauma and stressors can trigger physical symptoms. Your body tries to communicate with you. What if addressing the trauma and stressors makes all your physical symptoms go away? What's it going to hurt to wait? Are there exceptions to your pain? Do you find relief or symptoms diminishing when you engage with something you love? You can't take back interventions but you can wait and replace it with something that better fits your needs. There's this shame surrounding pain that isn't 100% physical and emotional pain isn't as accepted. As if emotional pain makes someone mentally unstable or can't amplify physical pain. In reality the two coexist and can drive the other. There is a likelihood that you haven't been taught how to process physical or emotional pain and there are people trained to help. Processing with the help of professionals shows strength and a commitment to get better. I was offended and insulted when someone insinuated I was fabricating physical pain and it was all mental. However, physical and emotional pain trigger a similar response in the brain. This means emotional pain or a combination of physical and emotional pain can be mistreated. Remember physicians are running a business and you can walk away at anytime. Your time and quality of life are more important than their business transaction. Listen to yourself. If it doesn't feel right or you're feeling pressured then you are entitled to walk away at anytime. Lastly, I had a physiatrist (pain doctor) tell me that I "might need to just deal with the pain". They didn't give any recommendations for how to do that, so I had to research and find helpful resources. The following is a list of resources that I have personally tried and found helpful without costly side effects or permanent damage. He did a fusion for me in C6-C7 in 2013. It continues to be doing well. He diagnosed me with severe bilateral carpal tunnel in 2022 and is okay with me refusing surgery for now (I don't do surgery because its not hindering my abilities but I do have atrophy on left palm). Dr Demers did surgery on my dad in 2019 and 2020, and my dad was satisfied with care and recovery (he passed in 2020 but from a non related condition). Now, I have some lumbar spine issues and Dr Demers has been supportive. He even explained that I needed to see orthopedic for my knee. As for front desk, I haven't had any bad experience with them either. I do a lot of check in on the Athena Health app, so they already have information.

After imaging, I returned he said the screws were loose, then and he bullied me to make it seem like it was all my fault. I went to another surgeon The other surgeon looked and his surgery noted and said he did not do half of what his notes said he did. Furthermore, one of the screws was broken off.
