Not my proudest moment to date but I've been hanging on to the very last crusty bit of my long expired contacts just to avoid a trip to the optometrist. Can you blame me? I just had a baby and even showering on a daily basis is a challenge in itself. When my contact finally bit the dust and I realized that there were several social events coming up that were non-glasses friendly I finally decided to make an appointment with Dr. Du. Fate must have aligned that day because I was able to get a same day appointment right in between my baby's nap time. Checking in was easy peasy and I was in and out in no time. I was given Dr. Du's information by several of my friends as I was looking into lasik and just an overall optical check up. He was very friendly and accommodating. He went over the extensive process of the lasik treatment and gave me great advice on who was the best in the area. Dr. Du was one of the best eye doctor appointments I've had in the NOVA area. He was very efficient with the exam and was able to articulate the results to me in a manner I was able to understand. Dr. Du also looked up my insurance for vision and medical to figure out which method was most beneficial for me and explained all the costs up front so that I understood what I would be paying for before I actually got the exam. This is important to me because I have had appointments in which the doctor saw me and then charged me for a lot more than I expected but made me pay the higher cost because they said I had already been given the exam. Dr. Du also was able to explain the difference between the different contact lens types and brands to help me to understand why there was a cost difference and which he recommended and why. Best part is that you get to walk away with a prescription in your hand. Great experience with Dr. Du. I went to Dr. Du's office with eye infection and he was able to prescribe me with the right eye drop to use. Dr. Du was also very informative and knowledgeable during the process, answering all the questions I have as a nervous patient. Subsequent to the visit, Dr. Du also checked with me periodically via email and remind me to reduce the dose of the eye drop. I booked an appointment with this doctor as a new patient 1 week prior. On the morning of the appointment, I filled the outline form he text me the day before, and text him my insurance card. He called back saying that he does not accept Davis Vision. I was a bit surprised (I didn't have this kind of issues for vision insurance in the past). I weighed the headaches of dealing with out-of-network expenses, and said well, I guess I'll pay the NO-SHOW fee instead and cancel the appointment. Without missing a beat, he said what is the credit card number. What I am mostly unhappy about, was the fact that Dr. Du, who personally take phone calls for appointments, insisted to put me on the schedule even though as I asked NOT to be scheduled until I find my card and text it to him first. read more

The exam was quick and thorough! I was seen right away after some quick paperwork. Quick is good when you're hauling your baby around with you :) The office was clean and equipment was up to date as far as I could tell. Dr Du made sure to wipe down all equipment before the exam started. He also checked in with me a week later to make sure my prescription was good. One morning, I accidentally dropped laundry detergent and it splashed in to my eye and it was burning, even after I washed my eye and flushed it out with saline solution. Worried, I called Dr. Du and he saw me right away for damages. He examined and gave me solution and a prescription for antibiotics. He was very sincere and thorough. Dr. Du conducted the exam with great ease. He is very knowledgeable and friendly. Gave me some very helpful suggestions and options for eye care. I didn't feel at all pressured to make a purchse right away, which sometimes happens at a bigger chain store. I hate when I go in for an eye exam and for some reason end up walking out with two pairs of glasses. But if you do need to buy glasses or contacts, Target has an optical section! Dr. John Du is awesome! He's very polite and knowledgeable. I was due for an exam and when I got in, I told him my eyes have been irritating and felt dry for the past few months. He had a look and told me I had dry eyes and prescribed me some eye drops. He told me to use it 4x a day for the next week, no contacts and to come back in a week. my glasses were a bit messed up from a prior trip. I found Dr. Du through some searches and went to visit. I walked in and the place was immaculate and pristine. Check there. He didnt even look for 5 seconds and could tell my glasses were not properly made. He said the reflective coating was low grade and peeling off which is why it look foggy. Went through a quick but comprehensive eye exam and come to find out my vision had changed from previously. Glad to know cause i was basically wearing the wrong glasses for a year and half.
