Driving back from the Cliffs of Moher to Galway we decided to stop in Kinvara for a quick bite to eat since we were starving. We passed Kinvara on the way and it looked nicer than some of the restaurants in Burren, but unfortunately most places were closed on a Saturday afternoon, except Conoles! It started to pour so we ran to the nearest pub. Conoles is a straight up old school Irish pub. They were watching Gaelic football where the announcers were actually speaking Gaelic and the patrons had brogues so thick that it was definitely a challenge to understand them! The barman was very friendly, but I'm sure he hasn't had three Americans and an Englishman in his pub all at the same time! They were so accommodating that someone went to the market to get my mom a lemon for her drink! The overall decor of this place is quite from, but for their hospitality I would rate them high. read more
