There was plenty of room to sit and talk once the crowd dispersed, but even standing there were plenty of places to set your drink. There are pool tables (or maybe a pool table) in the back of the pub near the bathrooms, which were some of the better kept ones I've encountered. The decor is a country style pub with low ceilings and plenty of dark nooks. Not sure what it's like on a regular night but either way stop in for a pint!

The landlord who is a distant relative (interest declared) ran the place single haned all night after the barmaid called in sick but he knew exactly what everyone in the place was drinking and in true Irish style, a wave of the hand and another round arrived! He did get chance to chat with us for a short while and just after midnight I asked what time he closed. Well he said, were usually open until late but we have a new Gard in the village so we will have to be a bit careful. He continued, as soon as he's nearly finished his Guinness, then I'll call time! Kids played on the pool table in the back. If we had known about it earlier we would've come here every night of our stay. Yes, lots of stale cigarette smoke from when that was legal, but the seating situation is great. No food, but Michael did come up with a coffee for someone who needed some waking up.

Pat Cohans is famous for the fight scene in the Oscar wining movie (1951) The Quite Man, staring John Wayne and Maureen O'hara. My wife who did all of the travel bookings is an old movie buff and put Cong on our travel itinerary. It was about 3:30 p.m. when we arrived in Cong after our morning visit to the Cliffs Of Moher. We had not eaten since breakfast and quickly made the short two block walk to Pat Cohans. We ordered the double burger with fries and a side order of onion rings. It was all good. Best onion rings I've had in a long, long time. The burgers were excellent. A few of you will pick up on this this statement, "where's the beef", well it was on our burgers. The beef patties were nice and thick. Great burgers! We had a nice late lunch, early dinner.
