Having our crawlspace encapsulated was one of the most seamless processes I've been through…read more Everyone was super professional and helpful throughout the entire process. Harlan Moore did a wonderful job explaining not only how the team would encapsulate our crawlspace, but how they would do it as well. He efficiently explained all the payment options and ensured we selected the one that best fit our needs. Corey Church and his team (Tyrese Ware, Devon Plater and Gavin Grigsby) were the best. They kept me updated on the process from start to finish and I was confident I was in good hands. They found our resident black snake in the crawlspace and Corey came to the door to ask what I wanted him to do with her - and wouldn't even show her to me until he was certain I was okay with putting eyes on her. The team had to leave early for a previous appointment the second day, but they stayed longer the third day and they were able to finish the job! These guys were very hard working, kept the noise to a minimum as they knew I work from home, and were very polite, efficient and cleaned up well after themselves! I could not have asked for a better crew to do this work - you'll be in great hands if you get even one of the guys on this team! Thank you Corey, Tyrese, Devon and Gavin!!!

I got a free inspection + quote from Tar Heel Basement Systems and they were super pushy and rude…read more Salesman would not take no for an answer, and they tried all kinds of slimy tactics to close the deal. "Sign today to get an additional x% discount" "My boss won't like this but...." "Oh oops I forgot to add this one $10,000 piece to your invoice, the price we've been discussing for 1/2 hour is now 50% higher" "Well I guess I could give you the friends and family discount..." etc etc Every time I said no to their "absolute lowest price they can do," they came back with another "lowest price" with some kind of discount or deal that they "shouldn't do, but can make an exception for..." I've read online that they do excellent work, but all they wanted to talk about was their competitors. If I had a nickel for every time I heard about "the other guys," I could possibly afford their newest "absolute best price we can do." Not a fan. Just tell me the price, tell me what you do, and cut the gimmicks.

Little Corner Construction replaced all the windows in our house (more than 30 windows), expanded…read morethe size of one of our windows, replaced the back door and surrounding windows and transoms, repaired wood rot around our house, replaced 25% of our siding, and painted our house. It was a tremendous project and it took a few months, but it was worth it and our 32-year-old house looks brand new! I worked primarily with Vivian, who was very professional and made sure we had everything we needed for the project. Miguel was the on-site project lead, and the quality and attention to detail of his work was unparalleled. The team came out to our house on a couple of occasions before the project started to take thorough measurements and discuss any additional work we needed done. Vivian was super knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to talk to, and at no point did we ever feel bullied or belittled (which is rare for construction companies). The pricing of the project was in line with (and slightly less than) other estimates. And Vivian always returned my phone calls and emails, unlike our experience with some other construction companies. From our perspective, the only notable areas of improvement for Little Corner were time estimates and communication regarding work days. We started the project at the beginning of October and were told everything would be complete by Halloween. When that passed, it was a stretch to get the windows and doors complete by Thanksgiving. The entire project (including siding, painting, etc.) was done shortly after Christmas, and then there were a few minor items that stretched out a couple of months after that. Given, we added on a few items to our original project scope, but the project would still have taken 6-8 weeks longer than originally estimated, even without a lot of rain or other weather delays. If the estimate had been 2-3 months from the beginning, it would not have been a problem for us. The other area of improvement was work days: it would have been great to have an update at the beginning of each week regarding which days the guys would be working on the house. We were usually notified in the mornings after the work day began that the team would not be showing up that day, either due to weather or other scheduling issues. It wasn't a huge deal, but there were a few occasions that we had to rearrange our day last minute when the team couldn't show up. With that being said, we would definitely work with Little Corner again in a heartbeat. When the project was complete (and even after we had paid our final invoice), Vivian was great at following up and making sure that every little thing on our checklist was complete. I've never worked with a construction company that was as easy to work with, as detailed oriented, and of as high of quality as Little Corner. They were very respectful of our property, did great work all around, and they did not call out any unnecessary items that needed repairs. Thanks for everything!

Always willing to take a moment and explain all the steps they were taking to protect our home. The were also very friendly to our kids who were excited for the big hole. I would absolutely recommend them and will be returning for any other foundation projects we might have.

I needed a lot of work and while I was at it, decided to go ahead and do the encapsulation. The crew that came out to do the work was great as well. I was off on vacation that week and got to know them a little bit. One day even bought them lunch because they didn't like to leave the job site. Another crew came out and installed the dehumidifier, but for some reason, they neglected to close up the foundation vents as they were supposed to. Another guy had to come out on a day nobody was home to do that and that completed the job. Since nobody was home that day, I couldn't pay them the balance for the job. I assumed I would receive a statement in the mail or maybe by email. After a week or so, I had kind of forgotten about it as I went on with my life. Believe it not, this is where the trouble started. About two and a half months passed. I got a phone call at work one day. The man on the phone wanted me to clear up my balance. He made me feel like I had done something wrong, so we got off on the wrong foot right away. I explained that this is the first time that anybody has asked me for money and I have never received a statement. He offered to email me a statement and I told him I would take care of it. In the ten day period from when I first received the statement, to the time they received the payment, I received statements by email twice, by regular mail twice as well as numerous phone calls. This really blew my mind. I had already paid them well over $20,000 for the work they did and for nearly three months I didn't hear a thing. Now all of a sudden it's the biggest emergency ever. I really didn't appreciate it. If the accounting department was on top of things the way the rest of the company seems to be, this wouldn't have happened. It was completely their fault. I'm just hoping that things go well in the future when they have to come out to replace my filters and such.

2 1/2 stars. I…read morecontracted this company after receiving numerous quotes for exterior foundation work. They were not the highest or lowest, they offered what I felt was a solid solution to my concerns. I liked that their scope of work was to inject foam below my driveway and front steps and walk, and to route the downspouts to discharge away from the house foundation. I also liked that they had their warranty offering as part of the job price, and not a separate line item to be purchased. I was told that I would need to be present when they were working. Ok, fine! Initial work scheduled for 25 August. The initial team scheduled was the downspout discharge team. They could not complete their task as some of their work required the foam to be applied first. This meant that the 2 step process was now to be a 3 step process. The promised time for the foam application came and went. I called and was informed that they would need to reschedule for 2 weeks later. Foam was applied. Driveway was lifted, ok. Front steps and walk did have foam applied and I can only hope that the ground below them has been stabilized. They could not lift the stairs back into position, or at all. Anyway, we are now on to the third step, the drain across the driveway. I had three different dates promised to me where this would be accomplished, that did not materialize. Communications for an update had to be commenced by me. They were not very forthcoming with updates. I did get a call from a manager who gave me his word that a crew would be out to my location on a Saturday to commence work. This did not happen and there was no call following up. I did request a follow up call from the manager, who promised to call, but this never happened. I had to contact them again to reschedule. Please be advised that work completed 3 months after down payment and 2 months after first shovel hit my property. Please remember my note above about having to be present. This means I was taking time to accommodate the work for little reward. Now on to the warranty. It was stated to me that the work is guaranteed for 5 years. If the driveway or front walk/steps drop by 0.25", they will come out to repair. To be effective, there should be a baseline measurement to gauge this dimensional guarantee. To date, I am unaware if any baseline measurement has been taken. I am concerned about the effectiveness of this guarantee. Do I recommend? Should you use this company? Maybe. If you are considering them, and again I liked their end solution, I would definitely recommend getting some language for timing and communication in the contract. Also have a discussion about the warranty. I really think that they need some program manager types to help with these deficiencies. Good luck

While we…read moreended up deciding to go with a locally owned company, I have to say, inspector / salesman, Kent Tysinger of '58 Foundations & Waterproofing, was thorough, knowledgeable, honest, and BY FAR the most professional and courteous of any of the people we've had out from any of the bigger, national chains. I was impressed by the fact that he gave us a few different options of what could be done, and explained the pros and cons of each, rather than just fearmongering and pushing the most expensive one with all the bells and whistles. '58's quote was definitely higher than the local companies, but generally on-par, if not a little lower than, their big national peers. And true to the promise they make on their website, they didn't do any kind of price matching or marketing gimmicks; they just gave me the price. '58 was our 2nd choice behind who we decided to go with (out of 6, yes SIX separate inspections/quotes), and I would definitely use them for other work, should I need it down the line.
