So let me start off by saying John must be the brother of Doc from the Back To The Future Movies, lol. I had hired someone to help with some smart light switches and they broke a few and left with my lights not working. So I contacted John and he quoted me on replacing 20 - 30 light switches to smart internet-connected ones. I had already purchased them at Costco, so I just needed the install. I contacted John to have some recessed lights installed in my living room. I chose John after reading many positive reviews as well as comments about how reasonable his pricing is. When I received his quote I didn't even bother to get a 2nd estimate. Well him and his helper did an outstanding job installing all 12 lights in 1 day. They also cleaned up the mess when finished. It amazes me how some electricians will leave wire scraps all over for us to clean up after them. Not with John and his helper. John then patched the hole he needed to create for the wiring and came back the next day to texture. Even the patch and texture came out great. John responded to my initial contact within a few minutes and provided a reasonable estimate after viewing our electrical, flooring and door replacement projects. He suggested reasonable alternatives rather than the more costly and time intensive electrical options. He texted appointment confirmation the night before and arrived punctually. He was flexible when we added on the installation of two solar security lights. He advised us on code requirements for our door replacements and tutored us on tile selections for our next project. We subsequently hired John for an additional set of projects, painting a bedroom, cutting, painting and installing mop boards running electrical service and installing a new ceiling fan; installing a kitchen floor and threshold including cutting, painting and installing mop boards; rehanging three existing hallway doors; and cutting, painting and installing a new board for our ceiling attic entry. This experience was not as positive as our first. John and his assistant did not come prepared with adequate tools and supplies causing unnecessary delays in completion. The bedroom required a paint redo as several areas were not adequately covered. Although John assured us that he could install our choice of kitchen flooring, well into the project he acknowledged that he was not familiar with the materials and hadn't paid attention to the overall patterning. We asked him to remove and replace a section before continuing. He advised against it saying they had had to hammer the snap-in pieces to lay flat and that it could compromise the remainder of the installation. This resulted in a less than attractive, expensive floor with damaged seams. I give an overall rating of three stars because John and his assistant were very pleasant and required a lot of oversight. read more
