I started a project on Yelp looking for someone to help with a shower upgrade. Those of us in Rancho Cucamonga know how hard the water is, and I'd recently purchased several removable shower filters to help combat the issue. I was able to uninstall the shower head, install the filter and reinstall the shower head in one bathroom, but I didn't have the tools or elbow grease to do the same in the second bathroom. Within minutes of submitting the request, I received a message from Nick with his cell phone number, asking me to send him photos of the work. I texted him and he responded quickly confirming he could do the work with an estimate and potential time to schedule the job. He required a small deposit via Zelle. I was a little skeptical about the deposit, but he affirmed his business means more to him than the deposit and his word is worth more as well. He was able to get me on the schedule the following day and confirmed a time later that evening. That day, he texted me telling me when he was on his way and with an estimated time of arrival. When he arrived, he got straight to work. He confirmed the shower head was REALLY on there! He was able to remove it, as well as the stupid flow restrictor I'd asked the previous plumber to not install--but he did anyway--threaded the connections, and installed the shower filter and shower head quickly. He also gave me an opportunity to douse the shower head in Lime Away before reinstalling! We tested the connection and he made one minor adjustment and then was done! He charged me his minimum rate and it was worth it. Very nice gentleman, very professional and honest! I appreciate he takes Zelle and Venmo. Edit: the job I thought was done so well on Sunday completely fell apart within 24 hours. I kid you not: the drywall bulged out in the middle until the outer layers flaked away at the worst part of the bulge, and the rest settled into crevices and bumps. By Monday, it was worse than when I started. While Nick was nice enough to reach out about fixing the problem, I really just didn't trust him to do it again and hired a licensed contractor instead. Ultimately, I paid $675 for the botched original job, and $850 for the additional repair. I'm sure Nick is a nice guy, I'm aware this wasn't ideal for him either, and I know getting somebody out here on a Sunday was a lot. But if I knew it would all need to be re-done by Monday afternoon, I wouldn't have called in the first place. Original Review: Nick came to help me at the last minute on a Sunday when the guy who'd agreed to fix the drywall on the side of my stairs never showed up. I needed it done before Monday so the guys doing my flooring could install on the stairs and I was freaking out messaging all the top rates handymen on here. I called Nick because I had a light fixture that was buzzing and flickering on/off consistently and also because I had managed to make a whole in my living room wall with my recliner chair (‍). His voicemail said to text for convince, which I did, and he responded in good time. He came and assessed the situations very thoroughly and explained all the possible reasons and all the possible outcomes of whatever work gets done. The next day he gave me a price quote with which he was willing to negotiate and we reached a deal. The following week (he'd had some vacation days pre-planned, which is understandable and I was not in any particular hurry), he came by and was able to fix the light issue with total ease...so easy in fact, he knocked off some of the agreed upon work cost (especially because we saved a bit on material). The wall was a painful process because it turned out I had electrical wiring right behind the whole. Nick came up with an idea to be able to so a strong patch where the whole was...this took him time of course, but he worked it out. Because the patch wasn't drying fast enough (and I didn't have a standing fan in the house to speed up the process) he agreed to come back then next morning to texture the patch, and then came back later to paint it. This is extremely admirable of him since it took 3 visits and ultimately the wall looked perfect as if there never was a whole. Each time he came he was very timely and professional. He worked within my own schedule and cleaned up after himself very well. Nick is an experienced and talented young man who really means it when he says "no job is too small".
