I brought my wedding set in to John Atencio at the Flat Irons Mall for an appraisal. I provided the stone certificate as well as the original appraisal from when the ring was made. Several weeks later when the appraisal was completed, I picked up the wedding set, paid the appraisal fee, then looked at the appraisal document. The details of the ring were wrong which reflected a lower value. The store manager acknowledged this discrepancy and was going to resend the stone certificate and past appraisal back to the John Atencio appraiser and ask for this to be corrected. I was promised that the official hard copy of a corrected appraisal would be mailed to me. Over the past 3 months there have been phone calls, emails and texts between me and the store manager regarding this updated appraisal. She unofficially gave me information from the updated appraisal but some of the details were still incorrect. In addition, the promised hard copy of the corrected appraisal has not yet been received. Currently this is the only appraiser John Atencio had working with them, so my request to have a second appraiser appraise the wedding set could not be accommodated. I was told that at some future time there may be someone else who could do it, but currently they had no other person. I was verbally offered that they would do that appraisal at no cost once they had someone else, but was not offered a refund for the $225 I paid for what is a useless appraisal. I believed John Atencio to be a very reputable jewelry store and have been shocked at their failure to resolve this situation or refund my payment. Admittedly, I made a mistake in paying for this service prior to reviewing the appraisal document, but I never imagined I would run into this type of a situation and that the company would not value it's customer and it's reputation enough to follow through. read more

I recently bought an engagement ring here. I didn't buy a diamond here, just the ring and matching wedding band. I had looked around at a number of private stores, online sites, and the typical common retail jewelry stores. Of all the places I looked, John Atencio had the best styling and design. I really like their jewelry. I've visited John Atencio stores in Park Meadows, Fort Collins and here at Flatirons. I just haven't been wowed by their customer service though. I don't mind spending a little extra money if I get good service and find a product I like. Here's why John Atencio isn't a 5/5 for me. I spent a TON of hours trying to find the perfect diamond for my fiancee. At least 3 different times I had John Atencio employees try to sell me a diamond I didn't want. I had some really strict parameters that I didn't want to go outside of. I would have probably budged a bit on one or two parameters. What really bothered me is that they would try to hide the parameters that didn't meet my desires. If the polish on the diamond was "good" and I wanted "excellent/ideal" they would sometimes just "fail" to mention that. Also, I could give JA 4/5, except, after spending $2000 on an engagement ring AND the matching wedding band, I was told I would still be charged $100 just to mount my diamond. Just on principle, I felt cheated, angry about them not offering a service I felt they should provide free after I spending $2K. So, I went to another jeweler I trusted and spent $130, and felt MUCH better about it. Main point: J.A. has great jewelry, but you better know your stuff and be very thorough if you want to get exactly what you want. I ended up buying my diamond elsewhere. I probably will NOT return to a JA for future purchases because of the poor service despite their nice jewelry. read more

I told him about the great service we once had at that location and how i hoped he was permanent (turned out our favored sales woman was his wife who was awesome, but at a different location more). My best girlfriend had the most gorgeous Engagement ring, and when I found out it was a John Atencio engagement ring, I just about flipped because I know and believe in this company and cannot wait to wear one of those rings on my own! Customer service is supreme, and the exotic stones are legitimately hand picked from all over the world. Three years ago my husband and I noticed a beautiful ring in the John Atencio Park Meadows store. The sales gal showed me the ring and I was in love. When I got my engagement ring several years earlier, it was in a plain band and for years I have been looking to remount it so it showed off the cut better - so we had them remount my diamond into this new setting. My husband surprised me by ordering the matching wedding band. Since then, I have brought my band in countless times because the white gold is turning yellow on the wedding band - a dingy bad polished penny color. They have on 4 occasions made me new bands - those have turned the same color in less than a year. On all the other occasions they send it in for rhodium plating....this lasts about 3 months. The engagement ring band has not changed one bit. They have given us about a dozen different excuses for this color change. Once they had the odacity to tell me that I must have put my hands in bleach to cause this color change......now wouldn't my other band change color as well if I done something like that (which I didn't). Each and every time that we bring it in they say they will document this issue so the next time if it happens they will do something to "make us happy", unfortunately, they do not do anything and but give me more excuses. Very disappointed that such a beautiful setting looks like crap. I have had dozens of people comment on the ring but when they see the band - they are appalled and ask why such a "quality" jeweler is not doing something about it. read more

I bought a beautiful ring a couple years back. After loosing a lot of weight, I Recently went to Park Meadows Mall to get my ring resized. I was very surprised and disappointed that they were going to charge me almost $80 to resize the ring I bought from them. The three ladies that were there that day could care less about me or the ring that I wanted resized. Needless to say that if I knew that there was a charge to have a ring resized after you purchase it I probably would not bought any jewelry there. read more
