My experience with Hurdle's has been nothing short of exceptional. We visited several jewelry stores during our search, but ultimately decided on a custom piece. After researching multiple custom jewelers, we chose Hurdle's, and I am so glad we did. From the start, Aria was incredible. She not only answered all of our questions but also took the time to educate us on the different qualities to look for in various stones. Hurdle's has a great relationship with their ring makers, which made the process seamless. I found a ring design I loved and wanted to modify, and they provided multiple modification options--from their in-house team and the ring maker. The wax model they created was a game-changer, helping me visualize the final product perfectly. My engagement ring turned out so beautifully that I trusted them with two other custom projects for my wedding. For my wedding necklace, I wanted to use the stone from my proposal ring. I asked for recommendations on how to add interest without overshadowing the main stone, and they delivered stunning designs. I also worked with Haley to create a custom wedding band. Like Aria, Haley was incredibly helpful, offering suggestions and sharing her extensive knowledge of different stones, settings, and metals. I was more indecisive with the wedding necklace and wedding band design, going back and forth on several ideas. Haley was exceptionally patient, listened to my evolving vision, and helped me narrow it down while managing my expectations. The result is a both a wedding necklace and wedding band I absolutely adore. My fiancé is equally impressed with their knowledge and service, so much so he purchased his wedding band from them too! I highly recommend Hurdle's for any custom jewelry needs. I recommend seeing them sooner rather than later to make sure you have time to work on the design, make changes, and have it made. I do not recommend purchasing or melting any jewelry with HJ. I had a very poor experience with melting my jewelry and purchasing a designer piece from them. Some of their employees will only go off hallmarks instead of taking the time to test precious metals using other testing methods. They did not do any kind of buyout process for the stones in the pieces I melted either. In addition, they lack options to create a custom piece. They only had one fine chain option in gold, which was surprising. I decided not to go that route and instead ordered a designer piece. I waited around for about two months to hear for them. I finally called and was informed there had been an issue with the piece, and it had to be remade, yet no one could tell me why. When the remake came in, it was not what I had discussed with the owner. I opted for another designer piece, but they didn't have it in the length I wanted. They told me they could order it but that I would have to commit to it without even seeing the stone first. I contacted the designer directly and found out that the piece was a standard option on their website and that if I ordered through them, I wouldn't have had to commit if I didn't like the stone. It was too late for me to order directly as HJ had already added the extra length. I should have reached out to the designer sooner. I was charged a hefty labor fee for a minor adjustment to the chain. They made no mention of the labor fee and then claimed they gave me a discount on labor as if they did me a huge favor. Most jewelers I've worked with offer complimentary resizing and minor adjustments when a minimum purchase is met. I was often talked down to and made to feel incompetent through my entire experience. HJ took no accountability for their actions during any of the interactions I had with them. I could have saved a few hundred dollars ordering directly from the designer due to Boulders' hefty taxes/fees and HJ's labor fee. I like to support small businesses, but I wouldn't support this one again. read more

i am 84 ad my husband is 91 years old . . . i have used hurdle's for years. i took them a ring that the stone had fallen out of the setting . . . they charged me $150.00 to replace the stone. i thought that was horribly excessive . . . but i dearly loved the ring . . . less than a month later, the stone fell out again! i took it in . . . they said the mounting was too weak . . . i had taken in a written description of the components in the setting . . you would think a jeweler would determine that it would fall out again . . . and refuse the job! i was shocked . . . they refused to return my $150.00 . . . or give any discount! i just threw away $150.00! don't let them rip you off . . . there are many non-gready jewelers. martha w. jones read more

I popped in that same day to have my piece assesed. I brought in a turquoise silver ring that needed to be enlarged. The first time they did it, they put in a spacer that not only had visibly harsh seams, but it only lasted a couple of months. The spacer broke off completely while I was wearing it, and I am always very gentle when I wear it, so there wasn't a reason for it to break (it's my baby!). I took it back in and they were able to fix it, however, the band is super super thin and crooked now. It has completely changed the character of the ring and the way it sits on my finger. Pay these guys $40 to ship my tag Heuer watch to the headquarters. They told me they would receive a breakdown of needed services from my watch that they would share with me and then I could choose which services I wanted the headquarters to perform. After nearly 2 months, I finally called them back and they said that they got a notice that my watch would be arriving any day because the headquarters and shipped it back a week or so before? I have had two previous tags shipped to their headquarters and always got a breakdown of the page repairs that I could choose from. I recently bought my wedding band from a local jeweler that was going out of business. All jewelry was final sale. When I took the ring to another jewelry store to have to resized they told me it was not possible to take the particular ring from a 7 to a size 5.5 and that there were no options to fix the ring. I went to Hurdles upset and sad that I had to sell the ring and lose money on it. Instead of taking my money for the sale the jeweler at Hurdles was able to re size it for me at a very good price! ABSOLUTELY THE BEST!!!! I have extremely high standards when it comes to jewelry and I'm very particular. With that being said, I had no idea what I wanted in an engagement ring - so I popped in and out of jewelry stores often to get an idea. I went in about 5 high-end jewelry stores around Boulder and Denver and NEVER experienced the quality and customer service like when I stopped into Hurdle's on a whim. I worked with Jessica and right away I knew she was AMAZING at her job.. I told her a generalization of what I liked and she picked out a ring that made my jaw drop - perfection! I was handed every generic ring in the book by other stores, never hitting the mark and here Jessica NAILED it on the first try. I knew I wanted to create my ring custom so I met with Jessica over the course of a month (since I was driving 45mins from Denver just to work with her - cause they are the BEST). She collected different clarities and colors of loose diamonds, giving me the best selection in our price range. Once the center stone was chosen, I described the type of band I envisioned and she produced a life-like image of our collaborative design on the computer for me to see the design come to life. I can not even explain to you how easy and amazing our ring shopping process was with Jessica and Hurdles. Their diamonds are quality, their artistry of design is one of a kind, they make options seem endless and deliver beyond expectations. Even though I had seen the final design of my ring through the computer image, when my boyfriend proposed, I was completely beyond blown away. They honestly created my dream ring...and then some! I had been toying with an idea for a very unusual custom engagement ring for my girlfriend, and I went to Hurdle's because they seemed reputable, tasteful, and Keith gave me the lowest quote of anyone in town. When I got there, Keith seemed to understand my goals for the ring perfectly, and the very first sketch he made was almost exactly how I had envisioned it. The experience just got better from there! I cannot say enough good things about Hurdle's! I have been there twice, once while shopping with my friend who was looking for an engagement ring, and recently to get my wedding band and engagement ring cleaned. While shopping with my friend the owner's daughter helped us and was incredible. My friend was very indecisive and tried on almost every ring in the store. Even though it was obvious we wouldn't be buying anything that day, she was in no rush and gave us her undivided attention. She really read my friend's taste well and not only made excellent recommendations but also made the experience a lot of fun. There was a nice selection including a small booth of nicely curated vintage pieces. When I went to get my rings cleaned I left the store feeling so happy! Who knew such a simply errand could be so enjoyable. The woman who met with me was so unbelievably sweet and helpful. After taking my rings to the back she assessed them and ended up recommending that they give them an even deeper clean because "of the way the diamonds were set" (they were actually just a filthy mess, but she even found a way to be sweet about telling me that). I left them there for an hour and when I came back they were sparkling as if they were brand new. They went above and beyond in performing this complementary service.
