Have been going to John Anthony Salon for a number of years and the services, staff, and experience has always been terrific. The salon is always clean and well kept, not to mention being well run. I travel about 20 min. to get there, but for the quality I would even travel another 20. You are all GREAT! read more

Consistently getting a great haircut. No rushing when you're in the chair, professional vibe, friendly staff. I've been going for over 26 yrs and counting. read more

Got a Groupon and liked the cut and style and friendly service The hair wash was well done and didn't feel as rushed as some other salons. I didn't get anything too complicated and was happy with the result. I was in and out in about an hour but did wait 15 minutes for anything to start. There's not too much interesting in this Plaza but there's a CVS next door. read more

I had the pleasure of getting my hair cut and colored by the owner John Anthony and let me just say he is a master at his craft! He really took the time to ensure that he understood what hair cut and color I wanted and the experience from beginning to end was fantastic. He is extremely pleasant and professional and so are his entire staff. I look forward in continuing to get my hair done at this salon. read more

John Anthony Salon - Balayage, haircut and blowout. - Waxing Near Me - Old Tappan, New Jersey

I had a lovely experience here. I did an email through yelp, was told to call and speak to Nancy (she was super nice and helpful). I was sent to Jessica. I have a beautiful blowout and she was awesome. I cant wait to go back to get my hair done! The girl that also washed my hair was nice too read more

I came with my mom and we both had our hair cut and conditioned. We were in dire need of it too bc it had been months.. Ok maybe almost a year for myself, don't judge me! Cutting my hair is stressful even though its nearly down to my waist, OK?! Anyway we both saw Jessica who is super sweet and friendly. Mom went first so she could get her color started and I waited in the front area; was offered coffee and donuts/bagels. Once it was my turn, Jessica got a feel for what I was interested in doing and made me feel at ease that she wasn't going to cut off more than I asked for (which surprisingly has happened many times at other salons!) Let's just say, my mom and I walked out of there feeling AWESOME! My hair hasn't looked this nice in years and I love how she added some long subtle layers that look so nice when I blow dry and curl the ends. We went to pay and I was almost charged a gloss fee for my mom but I asked about this b/c it was never mentioned it was extra since we both had conditions included.. Jessica promptly came over and said 'no problem, I forgot to say that was an extra amount so don't worry about it.' I truly appreciate that she came over immediately and spoke to us about it since we were confused and let that slide. Salon is cute and cozy and they keep it SO CLEAN! It's nice to see hair dressers sweeping the floor every 20 mins or so to clean up the hair trimmings. It made me realize they take pride in the look of their workplace and I knew as a customer it was going to be a pleasant experience overall. If only this salon wasn't nearly an hour away! Otherwise I would be back more often read more

My friend Recommended me about the John Anthony salon, so ever since I panned to grow my hair I knew I had to do a straightening, so I went there , they suggested me for boys it's better to do hair relaxing rather than keratin treatment . I had down the hair relaxing and my hair looks awesome after that process , but after few days it stared to curl again , so called them and informed about the same , they asked to stop by again , I went there again to do the treatment , this time the owner himself did the relaxing for me , and it's worked perfectly for me .. I am writing this review after 3 months .. I just waited to see how Long b it's gonna stay..still my hair looks good, and Thanks John Anthony salon for the great service Will be back again read more

Made an appointment that they lost. They didn't offer any solutions and never called me back to reschedule. Totally understand mistakes happen but they didn't try to fix the situation. read more

Simply the Best! Have been a loyal customer for 20 years. Truly the best salon I have been too. Top notch across the board. Stylists are true pros and the atmosphere is classy but down to earth. Great people and the service is the best. My fusspot 21 year old son is even a big fan now!!! I moved from Edison to Hunterdon County (over an hour away) 10 years ago - tried a few local "highly rated" salons in a pinch for convenience and was totally disappointed. Decided it was worth the over 2 hour drive to get there and be totally happy with my hair. My dad was a sought after hair dresser in Manhattan at all the best places including on 57th Street and The Plaza Hotel where mega wealthy people and celebs came demanding the best. By luck I grew up with the best of the best as far as my hair. When my dad could no longer do my hair - I struggled to find a place that was in the same class.... so many trial and error disappointments- at supposed top rated very expensive salons. It was only when I came to John Roberts that I found the quality and service that was in the same league and matched the best of the best NYC salons! Truly-the best salon!!!!! Hidden treasure. PS I rarely give reviews - just feel when a place truly deserves it- it's the right thing to do. Lisa Forsberg New Jersey read more

Amazing place. I went in with a color correction issue from a different salon and the owner John chatted with me on the specific details I was looking for to fix it. He asked me what colors/ tones I saw in certain hair samples from my perspective which I've never heard from any other stylist ever and really shows they care about getting exactly how you want to perceive yourself with your hair. Overall fantastic place and would recommend all my friends to come here. read more

I can't believe I haven't written a review: The appointment process was super easy. Requested an appointment online and got a call from Nancy the next business day and I was able to get an appointment with Jenna the next day! As for Jenna, she is absolutely wonderful! This is my 3rd time I've come to her for color. 1st was a full head of highlights, 2nd was a glaze, this time I went for an ombre look. She nailed it each and every time! She was super meticulous in highlighting my whole head. And was never pushy about color, she worked with me to make sure it was doable. As for the ombre, no dip dyed ends for this girl. The ombre blends nicely from root to tip. Prices are also reasonable. You get great service, for a great price. They've got a customer for life from me! PS - they offer you coffee/water, make sure you are comfortable, and everyone is super friendly. read more

Another great haircut and blow out at John Anthony's. They revamped the inside of the salon - very clean & chic. I'll continue to be a loyal and frequent customer. Trust only the best when it comes to your hair!! read more

I went there on a living social voucher back. And I was expecting to be treated kinda well.. Let's just be honest.. shitty bc most places do when you use a coupon... But they were super nice and professional. I got my hair cut and blown by Jessica and she really did a great job. I'm super annoying when it comes to my hair but she def didn't act huffy or annoyed by any means. She was patient and listened. And I believe that is key to keeping a client. The only downside to this place is I have called 3x already for a follow up appointment but every time they seem to put me on hold than answer than put me on hold again. Until I get impatient and hang up. Maybe get more secretaries to handle the front desk? Anyways going try to call for another appointment soon... Wish me luck ! ;) read more

This is my first review but I just had to say what a great experience I had today. I bought a groupon for a haircut and did balayage as well. As a new mom who has worn my hair up for much of the past year it sure felt good to have it all done. The color was perfect! read more

My mom always took me here growing up and I love it! The owner is so sweet! My mom and I see Michelle and she is great! I also love the way Jessica does my hair! But of course the best part is getting my hair washed and the shampoo assistant does a great job with keeping me relaxed. read more

I went there today to use my groupon and love my hair color. I gave 3 stars bc I had to pay extra $38 for the clay or whatever! which she said not included in my groupon. Plus she didn't do conditional treatment that was included in my groupon! When I asked she said the girl washed my hair did! I didn't want to argue but I'm not stupid! The girl who washed my hair was very nice! The place is clean and would go back again. read more

I recently moved to OT and was very apprehensive about finding a new hair stylist. I researched a few local places on Yelp and decided to try John Anthony Salon in town. Their website is very easy to use for booking appointments and informative on their services and stylists. First impression- the salon is small, very clean and modern. It's located in Bi State Shopping Center, so there's plenty of parking, which is a plus. Everyone I met was courteous from the second I walked in the door, including Nancy at the front desk and Raquel, who washed my hair. I scheduled an appointment with one of their younger stylists, Jessica, and she was wonderful. She took the time to listen to my hair concerns, likes and dislikes. I showed her some pictures of styles that I like and she came up with a great cut. She did an amazing job and was an absolute pleasure to talk to. I was extremely happy with my experience and I look forward to many more visits. read more

Best hair salon around ! Everyone is super friendly from the minute you call for an appointment ! Jessica is amazing! Super sweet, professional and honest ! They are following all steps to make sure everyone is safe and there is plenty of room! Definitely recommend! read more

I had somebody come to my house to do my hair because the salon was closed the day I needed the services. She was not a professional and put no life into my hair. I asked for a very simple Updo (poofy up top and low messy bun on bottom). I asked her about five times to make it poofier and fuller. She then proceeded to just keep spraying and barely trying to pull my hair out that was tucked in. It was almost like she was afraid to touch my hair. The salon suggested that she come to my house but they should've known better when I told them it was for a fancy occasion. She almost did a DIY style I can find from Pinterest. Nothing special. There is no place near me with Professional AND affordable services so I was hoping this salon would be that place. I give up. Only Pros: easy to make the appt., friendly read more

John has been doing my hair for at least 12 years now. Everyone in the salon is so talented. They are up to date on the latest styles and techniques. My entire family gets their hair done here. It's a family-oriented place with a warm and friendly atmosphere. I love going here! read more

I have been going to John Anthony Salon for over 2 years now. I came in with a Groupon when I was trying to find a good stylist. Jessica did an awesome haircut, color and blowout so I have been going back ever since. I even got my mom to start going to her too. She never chops too much hair off and listens to exactly what you want while also giving honest advice on what she thinks will work best. The salon has super nice staff all around which makes coming here a nice enjoyable experience. The owner, John is always super friendly. Reasonable prices for a Bergen County salon too. I highly recommend to try it, you won't be disappointed ! read more

I love coming to John Anthony salon - it is very close to my house so it's super convenient. John did my highlights the past 2 times and he is SO quick, knowledgable, sweet and does an amazing job. I've had my haircut with him once or twice and it was one of the best cuts I've ever had. I've also had my haircut and blown out by one of the other women that work there (can't remember her name but she's been there for years) and she did a great job as well. Everyone, including the assistants and front desk team, are accommodating, kind and courteous, and they always seem to be busy - which says a lot! read more

Still loving it here. After my stylist, Jenna, moved away, I tried a different salon that is a bit easier for me to get to. I was looking to go from brownish hair to as blonde as possible. Long story short, I left with not nearly enough highlights and my hair felt so dry and tangled easily. I came back here a month later to have John work on my hair and it's very blonde and very soft. Even softer then before the bleach. I am pretty sure the name of the product they use is Olaplex, and that is what prevents the bleach from drying. I am so happy to have hair so blonde so soon that is in great condition. read more

John Anthony's salon was easy to make an appointment, clean and staff were friendly. At my first appointment, I met with Jenna who cut my hair nicely. She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave her feedback as well. My 2nd and last appointment with Jenna was a total regret! I came in for a trim, yet somehow she convinced me of donating my hair. I felt a bit uneasy because she kept pushing me when I truly wasn't ready to chop 8+ inches of my hair!! I loved my long hair and have been growing it outside my last cut. I wanted the usual trim but I ended up being pressured and donated 8+ inches. Yes, it's for a great cause but a week later I completely regretted my decision! :( . read more

I have been going to John Anthony Salon and been getting my hair done by Jessica for the past four years and I couldn't imagine getting it done by anyone else. I absolutely hate spending time styling my hair especially since it is very curly and frizzy. However, no matter the style cut I ask for she always makes sure it is manageable without salon training. She also has a gift for dying hair. She's creative and has a good eye for color. She is able to make all my crazy demands a reality. She most recently did a beautiful red color with purple lowlights. At this point, when people comment my hair I don't thank them, I just say "I know." She's so great at what she does and you can tell that she loves it. Everyone in the salon is warm and nice and very talented. I can't imagine ever going somewhere else to get my hair read more

I have been a client of John Anthony salon for several years. The owner, John, and all of his staff are professional and wonderful. Michele, is my stylist, and she is proficient in all aspects of hair care. My blow outs, color, cuts are always magnificent. Kudos all around to an upscale salon with a personal feel. read more

Clean place with knowledgeable, friendly and approachable staff. I'm very picky about my hair and who touches it, especially since being diagnosed with alopecia. I was taken care of by Jessica who has time after time given me the best treatment regardless of what I've needed done. I always grew up just my mom cutting my hair or me cutting split ends off so I was always nervous who was going the be the first professional to cut my hair. John Anthony Salon was the first salon I had ever been to and I went with the Groupon for Kayla. I absolutely love it there especially Kayla. I told her how nervous I was and that I always had long hair so she did exactly what I wanted and kept it as long as possible, adding some layers. I ended up loving it so much I went right back to Kayla a few months later and let her chop some more off. All I told her was I want it shorter and now my hair looks so healthy and not damaged! I've recommended the Groupon to so many people to try it out and it's such a good deal and Kayla is so great everyone loves it! read more

As long time client of this salon, I expected something, boy was I wrong. Back in 2010, I lost my job. After landing an interview, I felt I wanted everything to be just right, including my hair. Money, now being an issue, I called my salon to ask if they would be able to help me out with the cost by giving me some kind of discount. I wasn't asking them to give it to me for free, just some kind of discount. The receptionist put me on hold to ask the owner, when she got back on the line and to my surprise, she told me that he said, "If he does it for me, he would have to do it for everyone else and that the answer was NO." Over the years I had dropped a lot of money in his shop, WOW, REALLY!. 6 months later I got a coupon in the mail for his shop, stating they hadn't seen me in a while. read more

Such a wonderful and personal experience! The staff is so accommodating and friendly other salons could really take a lesson from these wonderful people. Jenna is my favorite stylist and the only person I let touch my hair. When they do a consultation with you they make sure you get what you want and need to get the best possible results for your hair. I would definitely recommend the John Anthony Salon to anyone who really cares about their hair! read more

I had purchased a Groupon deal for a conditioning treatment, cut and blowdry. It is located in the typical suburban strip-mall so you might be pleasantly surprised that the staff here seem to know how to do hair well. This place is amazing! Usually I'm hesitant with using Groupon deals because the establishments tend to be snobby to the clients; however, the entire experience from beginning to finish was great. The receptionist was extremely cordial, the woman who washed my hair (Raquel?) was amazing friendly and thorough, Irene (the stylist) was attentive to detail and very talented technically. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and explained to her what I was trying to do and she listened to me without trying to do something else entirely. Although I don't live in the area, I will definitely be back to get another conditioning treatment, cut and blowdry with Irene for full price at this establishment. I highly recommend this place. read more

Jenna HOOKED ME UP with the best highlights I've ever gotten. I was looking for a new hair salon an d as usual I wanted a cut ASAP. I called this place because it fad gotten good reviews and it was close to where I lived, not to mention open before 11am. You don't need an appointment but I would always recommend one. My stylist was Jenna and she was wonderful. Not only did she help me make decisions on what I wanted, going from long to a bob, but great highlights. The atmosphere was clean and friendly staff. Prices were reasonable. I got highlight, lowlights, and a cut for a little over 200. Better than some places. If your looking for a new place too, this is a great spot. read more

Very clean upscale salon with exceptional customer service. I have used two different stylists here, Jenna and Jessica. Both are excellent at both cut and color. I love John Anthony Salon. It's conveniently less than 10 minutes away from my home & everyone there is so ridiculously nice. The stylist I go to, Jessica, is amazing with cut & color. She did my ombre last summer & it was beautiful. This year she turned my blonde ombre into a red ombre & I was obsessed. I recently had her cut off the ombre & just dye my entire head a reddish-purple & it looks & feels great! I will be going back next spring to have her re-ombre my hair. The owner is always very pleasant & the decor is very chic. I recommend this salon to everyone. read more

Had a very good experience using a Groupon here. This was my first time to the salon and everyone was very sweet. The salon itself was clean and modern. My mom and my 3 month old daughter had to come with me and no one was upset about having a baby at the salon (first-time mom, I worry about these things!) Jenna did a beautiful job with my hair, listened to what I wanted, and even taught me something about my new bangs needing to be trained to stay in their style. I would consider going again, and would definitely ask for Jenna again. Thank you! read more

Went this past weekend to get my hair cut and colored by Jessica and she did an amazing job. Not only was she super nice, but every other hair dresser I've gone to always talked me out of going light and she was all for it. I'm so glad I did it because it came out great and I am so happy with it. The entire staff was also super friendly - offered me something to drink, smiled as you walked passed, very outgoing. The friendliness of the staff made me feel really comfortable. I also really liked how the owner walked around, giving positive feedback to his employees and asking if they needed anything while they were working.
